Actually the 27th is for pre order and medal of honor people the 29th is when the open beta starts

Never really looked at it that way before like Keitzer put it, makes a ton more sense and I feel a lot better about having to play on low res and low settings now. The "e" world always makes everyone feel like they need everything now now now but hearing that kinda reminded me that common sense does sometimes live on the internet as well. ^_^

You are right. I put the 25th by mistake because that is the last day to pre order if you want to get access.

So I can still pre-order today and get the early access beta?
Can't wait to play with some fellow TLers, been creeping on this thread for a while.

Battlefield 3's page says pre order by September 25th if you want to get early access to the beta. I just pre ordered it right now.
Regarding the recommended settings...
@zh1nt0 @Lezziter that is wrong, the recommended settings are for High.
So... it's for high settings..... not medium.... not over medium....not lowest.... not low.....not ultra.....not super ultra....not super high...... but high settings.

i'm so excited for this, pre-ordered mine through gamestop about a week ago, so i'll have to wait a bit longer for the beta, but those days are busy for me anyway so i don't really mind.
only thing i'm semi-worried about is the recommended specs T_T
i have a gtx 460, runs everything fine but bf3 recommended is 560+..
i hope the difference between medium and high isnt too insane, cuz i honestly don't want to shell out 400-500$ for a card to play this game on high

Why can't they let us download ahead of time before the beta starts? D: My bandwidth is going to get so raped.

They could easily enough make it so you can download and install it today or tomorrow, and just not be able to log in/ play it until Tuesday.

The download it during the beta is dumb because of how many dopes will be downloading at the same time.
Origin will crash for sure.
Also, if I download the beta will I have to redownload for retail?
|
Yeah beta will most likely be deleted similar to SC2 beta, files are all useless since its all made to around that one map and only some settings for the game. I'm no genius about that though so someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Oh and I agree about the pre-download beta thing, I have terrible connection and 3gb's while not large will take me around 4 to 7 hours. I'm super pumped for it either way. I've been playing BC2 nonstop lately so I can hold back my excitement, although I am officially burnt out on Heavy Metal, one team always get's raped while the other can pin them in, the shape of that map is terrible for comebacks if one team is even just a little better than the other.

Ugh, so I won't even be able to play in the beta? I don't have 40 gigs to spare .__.
|
So I preordered at 11:56 lol. Think I'll still get early access to beta? Heres hoping!

I agree I wish we could pre-download at least so I can play second it goes up.

Creating new thread for BF3 servers. So we don't de-rail this one with server-related talk.
Thanks for all of the support guys.

Where did you see 40? I saw minimum system requirements at 20 gigs.
Also, I agree that no pre-download is dumb, Tuesday's going to be hell for their servers and I can't imagine what Thursday will be like.
|
I wonder how many will be in beta, since its open to everyone I bet it will be pretty insane. Oh and Torte dude the games not 40 gigs its 15 for disc and 10 for digital download and 2-3 for Beta. I'm forced to buy disc version so I can get it in the morning from Gamestop when they open and then just install that way so I don't have to wait around nearly 24 hours for download, in fact I'm pretty sure it'd take my like 27 hours to get 10 gigs.

For those who are complaining about DLing so much and wasting bandwidth
"The beta will include Operation Metro as the only map, and Rush as the only game mode. This was the same map/mode combination used in the Battlefield 3 alpha. The beta will support 32 players on PCs and 24 players on consoles. It will be approximately 2-3 GB in size."

Aw, damn. Was hoping there'd be at least a 64 player cap overall for beta, but oh well. Weird how the player count will be a whole fourth less than release cap...
|
64 would be nice but that would mean they would have to show a different map and test a different map, I think there wanting to see if all there changes will hold up well since alpha. Also this way they don't have to let out the "surprise" of vehicles, if they did it for beta I think it would be less exciting on release. Plus the download won't be so crazy huge, probably a ton more stuff to stuff into a download for a map like Caspian. On release day I'm going to be refining my flying so I can end up a pro Thunderbolt pilot, that planes so beastly.
