Where is the "large maps"? whats "large"? as said i dont know how it was in previous ones but i like the size of firestorm/caspian etc. far bigger and we just increase the "boring" times or not?
Ultimatly Bf3 isn't a worthy contender as a sequel to such an amazing game as BF2 imo. It did not match my expactations. But do I like the game? Hell yea! It's not omfgbbq-amazing, but it's a good game imo. You totally ignore the new great aspects of the game and point only at the bad ones. Gunplay and CoD-like gamplay has always been a niche in the battlefield series.
It's just like what happens when an artist or band changes direction. Older fans HATE and new fans appear. I'd prefere if the two styles could grow together, but thats unfortunatly too naive. All I can do is give DICE feedback and hope for the best.
EDIT1: See change from SC:BW -> SC2 EDIT2:And we should, if considerd worthy of further discussion, probably take this to PM to avoid a closing of this thread.

Can't you just stick to non-B2K maps? While B2K maps are great for the most part, most of the vanilla maps are entertaining too, whether you're a fan of infantry or vehicle combat or both.
Both of my friends have the DLC maps, so it kept booting me if they were put on a map I didnt have.
why did this thread go to shit in a day? I came in here expecting dogtags and all i got was a link to 1/2 of the dogtags available and a bunch of activism that feels like it belongs in the general forums

Why would this thread be about dogtags? Its a thread about battlefield 3.

The thread went to shit because it turns out the DLC is a piece of shit. Does that answer your question?
"As its name will imply, Close Quarters is designed to replicate the tight-nit corridor multiplayer gametype like that of the recent Call of Duty games. Except with Frostbite 2 because that makes everything better, right? Oh, and get ready for this one: no vehicles allowed in Close Quarters. How will these types of maps hold up? We'll have to wait until we get some hands-on time to weigh in on that topic."

100% agree with this, just quit the game. CoD fanboys are annoying but I don't like these anti-CoD fanboys that play BF3 only because it isn't CoD. Seriously, stop insulting the game you supposedly play because its annoying for people who actually *like* the game for what it is and not what it isn't
My opinion on DLC BF series infantry has always been garbage comparatively speaking to other games. To act like its boycott time when DICE wants to work on infantry fighting over vehicle fighting is hilariously stupid because DICE is trying to improve the weakest part of their game. Keeping infantry a sideshow affair in BF3 is your guys idea of a complete game?
FYI: If you don't want to play infantry, play on a vehicle based map that BF3 is filled with If you want to play infantry based map, play bazaar or metro? maybe karkand
BF as a game is about choices and variety. New DLC gives you more choices and more variety, including the choice not to buy it. I personally wont be buying it because I don't do much infantry to warrant buying it nor do I care about some guy having access to a weapon I don't since my weapon is still capable of killing him e Z. That said the original game is still there for me to enjoy, so why would i ever boycott the game idk O_O

Funny, first thing i thought when i saw this is: looks like arkaden from mw3. Im a bit disappointed with the fact that the close quarters dlc wil be the first one id rather see the vehicle one come first (im actually excited for the big map) but its ok i can wait.
Also i can understand the frustration of BF veterans but DICE dont have much choice i think. Im pretty shure that a big part of the community wants it this way. I mean metro is the most played map in BF3 followed by bazaar and seine, just look how many metro only servers there are. Squadleader only spawn and autoregen can be turned on and off in the server options but i cant find a single server where autoregen is off and SQleader spawn only is on. That tells me people want to play small, shallow meatgrinder maps and DICE has to deliver that if they want to please the major part of their playerbase. Unfortunately thats how industry works and how the players are these days and Blizzard (like ivereturned mentioned) isnt a single bit different. Compare BW maps to SC2 maps, the complexity of those two games or the fact that Blizzard claims to make SC2 for esports but doesnt implement LAN, releases the game in episodes, makes (stupid) patches too soon and they take away or nerf interesting units/strategys into oblivion. (Seriously no carriers, lurkers, reavers = not a starcraft game to me as a longtime bw lover). Although i have to give credit to Blizz that they let us make our own maps atleast. The only thing that is a really bad (even retarded) and not by economic factors explainable decision from DICE is that they didnt implement VOIP in a game that suposedly encourages teamplay.
Ballance issues in BF3 are actualy rather small. There is a wide range of guns that is used already. No matter how much whine threads there are in the forums its just not true that everyone runs around with a USAS or FAMAS. In fact, if you play maps like Kharg/Caspian/Firestorm you see those guns rather rarely. And yes tanks are strong but thats how the game is played it would be stupid if a engineer who fights a tank would win 50% of the time. Imballanced would be if the RU tanks were stronger than the US tanks. The power of tanks also gives opportunity for strategical deepness in mapdesign. One of the things i like so much about Caspian is that there are two flags with tank spawns (A and E) that makes those two flags a bit more important than the rest and leads to interesting situations where for example one team has AE and the other team has BCD.
Actually, aside from my rants about the M16/M4 being too powerful (and not promoting gun variety) , the RU chopper is often called the bathtub for a reason, as its flying capabilities are inferior compared to the US Chopper. I have no idea about jets, though I would assume the F-35 is crap because of the hover/BF2 bias.
Differences in the tanks are slight but significant. The RU tank has a wider turning radius, but to compensate, the turret can dire directly behind its target. The US tank turret is angled slightly upwards, so the turret has problems firing targets at close range.
I don't understand all the people complaining about the next expansion being infantry only. DICE announced 3 expansions, the second one is vehicle based and the third we know nothing about. It's not like DICE is saying Battlefield 3 is going to be infantry only from here on out, you just have to wait a little longer for Vehicle based maps to come.

For most people, the point isn't that they have to wait for their large vehicle maps. The state the game was released in, the features that were cut and the Close Quarters DLC shows that EA is after the money of the CoD crowd. While BF3 has sold well, MW3 has sold much better, and EA wants a share of that market. They won't even think twice about transforming this into Battlefield: Modern Warfare if it means their sales go up. And while that's a legitimate decision for a business, it's a slap in the face for all those players who were promised a "spiritual successor to BF2".
Those of you that are active make sure to join our new platoon, my name in game is Mathew_1942 for those that don't know and I play quite a bit, only 3 of us got on last night but we had a blast. The last game of the night was hilarious and Tennet you missed out! WakaDoDo was driving one of the IFV's and spotted a sniper like directly in front and asked what we should do about him and I walked up while he was even looking at me and burned him with my repair torch. haha edit-Oh and I also learned last night that 2 TL guys=no enemy choppers.
