I don't think DICE straight out said it, ever, but I believe so.
On-topic of Iron Sights, certain guns appear to have less 'bounce' with Iron Sights. Specifically the AEK-971 is easier to aim without a sight.
Hmm okay guess thats something to look into. Dunno, I am honestly more at home with iron sights more than anything having come from BF2, all the clunky optics don't feel right for me and it would be even cooler if iron sights give a bonus
If you like sniping, headshots,0.44 Magnum and Home Story cup music chances are you will like the video below:
I simply gathered footage from 2 of the matches I recently played on Seine Crossing, slapped nice soundtrack and uploaded it to YouTube. It's just kills, headshots and more kills.
Hope you will enjoy it and if you do, make sure to let me know by leaving a "Like" or comment or both

think its iron sights/rds/holo < 3.4/4x etc < 7x/8x/12x
not sure if there is a difference within those "tiers".
btw am i the only on that finds it weird when people just play one class? im rank 36 now and see people running around with 2 class service stars at the same/lower rank while i have not one class star yet .but im very close on recon and eng ,got my jet and soon tank service star and around 50-60% on medic and support~~.
also is the headshot dogtag supposed to show just the headshots in that match? im confused since in the stats screen it shows all time headshots and my other "counting" tags (like the start walking anti vehicle one) all show the whole number.
oh yeah and if someone else is down for some coop i still need all the unlocks there :>
gotta love it when you use a magnum repeatedly from less than 40m away and no one bothers to turn around and see what all the fuss is about ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Service stars: some folks like to go with what they know, because it gets them points faster and helps them "level up". Some folk just don't like the types of guns the other classes have ( I know a large amount of people who hate using heavy machine guns or sniper rifles), and so avoid those classes. Some folk just don't like change. Many reasons. I'd say a good 95% of the time a person focuses on one class, it's the engineer or assault class, with recon taking 3rd place.
Headshot dogtag: that's a glitch. Dogtag numbers keep fucking up, and have since the game was released really. For instance, I have ~1000 tank kills, yet my tank service dogtag says I have >1200... very wrong according to my vehicle stats page.

I'm an example of the service start thing. I play Engineer almost exclusively but I also spend as much time as possible in a helicopter. No other class has a repair tool so there is no synergy or purpose to select one of them if I'm flying. In the very rare occasions that I'm not flying I'm most likely in a tank and once again, Engineer is ideal. Generally speaking for vehicle based play, if you're looking to optimize your ability and impact, you're going to pick Engineer. Since I'm pretty uninterested in the infantry side of things I don't spend much time with the other classes.

people play the game the way they want. not weird just how you have fun i guess
well i find it weird cause there is so much more to the game then just playing one class/style all day long. also quite often these guys are snipers that refuse to adapt to the situation and rather sit on a hill all the time <.<
bought myself a xbox controller yesterday as a upgrade after the bunch of cheapass gamepads i used before and boy its such a difference. just in the 2 days i improved my overall jet kills by like 35% and scored like 20k points with them.
lesson is: dont try to do accurate stuff with gear that isnt made for that.

actually , its irons/rds/holo < 3,4X < 4X < 7X,8X,12X
the difference between holo and red dot is that the holo has a slight zoom (1,4X) while especially the russian red dot obfuscate the view the least.
Scopes: the Lines on the scopes actually have a purpose , you if you have the 8X scope on your rifle , and you see an enemy who is standing still and is just as big as the distance between two of the "dots" on your crosshair , you yknow hes 180 meters far away and you need to aim so that the head is roughly two thirds the distance between dots below the centre of the reticule.
there are complete lists that help calculating the distances depending on how big a standing enemy appears on your crosshair for all scopes on the internet. also tablets of how far you need to aim above once youve calculated the distance based on those figures. dont have the link atm but will deliver later

Unlike previous versions, the class, Assault, will be able to equip defibrillators and medkits. The mechanics of the LMG have been changed to utilize the new engine. Bipods can be deployed anywhere when in the prone position or near suitable scenery, and provide a significant boost to accuracy and recoil reduction. Suppresive fire is an in-game mechanic which blurs the vision of those under fire from an LMG, and also reduces their accuracy. The Engineer will also receive a boost with a flashlight that can be used to blind other players.

Mouse Keyboard is fine, you just need to use arrow keys for maneuvering and then switch to mouse for aiming (I have first hand experience with this). Some people say its better for aiming compared to a joystick but imo i would imagine a joystick is better for aiming but more importantly joystick would be better than M&K because of throttle control (although IDK if that works in BF3). Regardless, M&K can compete with other controllers
If you can't use arrow keys tho then M&K is garbage for sure
Game is awesome. What's competitive BF3 like? Is it just 4v4/8v8 Rush/Conquest on small maps?
Also, I'm trying to learn to fly jets now but I'm kind of mixed on what input I should use. I already have an xbox controller since I have one but I kind of want to stick to traditional mouse + keyboard. Any suggestions?
Edit: I'm not gonna lie, the average skill level in this game stinks. I guess it is a new game and all, but there's so many people that should just stick to DM..

Good question. The official twitter mentioned a nation cup today, here's a link to an interview with the finnish team: http://bfhq.se/forums.php?m=posts&q=42904 They have a 14 player roster, other than that no idea about gamemodes etc.
I really wonder why nobody even tries to set something up. What about this 1.5 million $ tournament that dice announced? That one was only for consoles though, lol.
I'd really like to see two 16 player or even bigger teams going at it, with POV coverage just like in cs. Of course you won't always know whats happening, but it HAS to be awesome, I'm absolutely sure about that.

I can just imagine one guy that doesn't actually play, just looks at the overall map and gives out orders to the squad leaders, who then direct their own squads to do their own shit.
Can you imagine a coordinated 16-32 player team, my god.. This game is ahead of its time imo.

Yeaaaah, that's not gonna happen. Especially since the competitive BF scene (As far as that will ever go, anyway) seems to console focused, so 32-man teams are impossible.

Main reason why BF2 was so fun; you could be Commander with overview of the battlefield, and it was a thing of beauty when you had squads that knew what they were doing/listened to you. On the other hand, it was often a trainwreck if they didn't...
