By MAV you mean the little thing recon gets to fly around? That would be...mean...

...although it wouldn't work on me because I can't resist shooting at the lil buggers (which would detonate the c4 early)

I do find that loading the hood of a Humvee up with C4 and trying to ram doesn't work as well as BF2 since it's so easy to set off now

I'm having the same thing.

I've had six "BF3 has stopped working" errors, and ten disconnects today. This game can be a bumpy ride sometimes, jesus..

Also, spawns on Seine Crossing can be so frustrating. I've lived through the bad spawns of the other BF games, but this map really takes the grand prize. When you're on one or two bases in conquest and there are three or four ways to enter the small plazas with the flag, they really should have added a spawning point which is not in the line of fire of either of the entries.. I got spawn raped four times in a row.

There are some spawns in the lil buildings in the corners which occurs occasionally.

It's pretty bad spawning directly in front of someone (or in some cases, in front of a tank)
But it's equally cruel when you spawn directly behind someone

You can only revive a fallen team member if they have the little heart rate wavy line thingy above them, after that they are gone....until they respawn

You gotta be closer than you did in BC2. If there are other objects on the body it makes it hard to revive them. A player can only be revived once unless they survive long enough on that revival (stop the ridiculousness that was BC2 reviving lol).

If its anything other than that, I don't know, but I've been playing assault pretty much straight.

You are just used to it. I've progressed in a normal fashion through all the weapons, and as as You can see(filter for recon), I've needed less and less kills to unlock next weapon although points requirements are same/or even more. Although I got better and better with sniper rifles along the way. I just got used to the ballistic x12 scope, although being pro would suggest to go for x8 for better field of vision, but I don't mind it. I can also hit guy up close, long hours spent over CS 1.6 help with that.

On an interesting note, I once managed to actually kill 2 people with 1 bullet from this gun.

There is no hard data, that needs to be tested but my feeling is that it varies with the weapon but it will never one shot. This only matters if You hit the guy and some else finishes him, You get more points with M40 and even more with M98, but that is just 10-25 more points which is nothing compared to all those points you need to level up beyond 15lvl.

Its like everyone has severe memory loss or is so far down the CoD bashing bandwagon they dont notice their bias. This shit happened ALL the time in BF series, eg karkand BF2, every man and his dog on US didnt bother with the objective, just sniped or player support sitting behind a fence chucking endless nades.


It's the fashionable thing to do. If players camp and snipe from spawn, it's because they're they're cod players. If they rush and die, it's because they're cod players.

I've played both games and haven't really noticed a difference between the "quality" of the players. Players ignore objectives equally in both games.

Inconvenient truth here: I found the pure FPS skill level to be a bit higher in CoD since you can't really be useful in that game if you can't shoot stuff (in BF3 you can get top score without killing much of anything).


Like i said much earlier in this thread, I'd rather have CoD players on my team than "BF players" for operation metro ;D


It comes on pretty much every gun I've checked. So pretty much, anyone can be running around using it on any kit and eliminate most of the bonus from going prone and sneaking around the ground. It's really great for those cheap kills where you shoot someone's feet and stuff. It's 1x, so snipers wouldn't find it too useful, unless the sniper ones also come with high magnitude ones? That would be really strong... It's amazing that it works in pretty much all light levels, and like chronix said basically has little disadvantage over a normal RDS. Only one I can think of off the top of my head is that tactical flashlights at close range will basically blind you if you are aiming down the sight with it, which is not necessary if you are that close anyway.

Once this becomes more popular, you can basically say bye to hiding in a bushes and tall grass as long as your opponents are vigilant. It makes seeing people through any sort of brush very easy, since as long as any part of them is visible they will be lit up like Times Square.


Thank you DICE for putting something in the game that can see people who hide in bushes instead of actually moving forward. I have no problem with people that use bushes for quick cover but bushes shouldn't just automatically be "turn you invisible" zone.

Also IR Scope takes longer to ADS than reddot/holo/Iron afaik

How do you play recon on conquest? Im awful at pretty much all conquest maps, mostly because there are enemies fucking everywhere D:

I like this thread~ lots of info that i wouldn't otherwise discover. Looking forward to trying something less shit than SV98 and interesting that ADS time is slower with IR sight.

At this point I'm reallyw aiting for someone to post a full on damage chart like we've had for every FPS evar for the last few years.

It all depends on the enemy team, how they play, not the map for me mostly (apart from Metro obviously). I've had games where I couldn't do shit as recon either because opposite team played extremely well dominating us or all of them played very mobile and agile style with little to non recon players. But there are other instances where I was clearly on the losing team but just demolished the board with 30-2 score. You need to play a lot to get the feel of the maps and how/where to position yourself depending on the opposition play style and what bases you/they have. I guess what I'm saying is that it's so dynamic that I don't run on autopilot. I start on each map with a good sniping spot and then I move accordingly. Most obvious and blunt thing I can say is keep distance and be patient. You get sick bonus scores for ranged headshots 100pts for kill 10 for head and whatever distance is in meters. So 1 ranged kill from 300m gives you over 400pts. Oh and be mobile, don't be that guy that sits behind the rocks all the time, after You get 1-2 kills you are burned, sometimes even sooner if they mark you. Whenever I hear a hiss of a bullet flying by I get ready to move somewhere else. Unless You are far far away, that you are confident no one will hit you before you spot them. One more thing, but it's more a preference, I play very actively, almost never lay on the ground, run around, shot from the knees. You can stabilize the scope with shift and laying on ground makes the escape/relocation more difficult. Oh and make sure to mark targets, as a reflex with default "q" if they move it helps ( even if You scan for targets and saw something move, press q it will mark the enemy if he is there) ,and most of time it helps Your team !
