A super cool "TL" gundam banner would be awesome to put here....
Hey TL. Today, I want to share all of you a new cool game that I discovered recently and been addicted ever since 24/7 for a while now. I present you.... a GUNDAM ONLINE GAME!
So what is it? Why, it's a fully function Gundam multiplayer game! Not those cheap ass 1 vs 1 fighting game where you buy in console hoping to be more nor a game where it's practically all dialogue that you see in other games. This game is much more than that: piloting mobile suits/mobile armor/fighter/vehicles/etc, taking over territories, pvps, raids, crafting (making your own weapons, suits, gundams, etc) and lots of gundam drama! (Sorry, no pink hair girls here. )
Basically the world is at war and you have to choose 2 sides, either the Earth Federation or the Principality of Zeon. It's based on the Universal Century era (the original gundam series) and you choose either side and stick with it only to go up against the other side and be victorious. Question is... can you?
You can play either in Earth at the country of Australia (and there are many locations there to go to, it's a big country afterall!) or in space where there are space ports!
There are skills in this game. It's basically similar to Ultima Online as many people have said. You can build your skills in your character that has a whole range of stuff as shown here that is either combat or for crafting.
In summary, you could say there is a bit of wowish fever or those typical online mmo games with a character but here it's with your personal character and YOUR GUNDAM! (or mobile suit/mobile armor, etc etc). Best of all... IT'S FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
The original server has shut down back in 2007. However, after a crazy awesome skills from certain person referred as the "admin", a fully function private server has now been live ever since September 2010 for freeeeeeee! It has basically the same quality as the original server PLUS MORE! Custom colors, suits, more pvp features, etc!!!!
But there are a lot of japanese players in this game, mostly because this is originally a japanese game. But there are also quite a bit of growing English players as well. This game is very adaptable to play without the knowledge of Japanese really. And you'll have fun regardless of the slight language barrier that is the menu setting (which has a guide above) and few things that doesn't really affect you much.
To make your account once you download and start the client, basically just type your desired username and password at the login screen and it's yours! Simple as that! But beware.... you cannot change your password as far as I know... nor delete the account....
First off, what is crafting? Basically crafting is where you can make your own mobile suits / mobile armors, weapons, materials and even clothes! Crafting is a big plus in this game as it can earn you a good source of income for the game as well as trade with others of their desires from what you make. And ultimately, you will be able to control the game's economy by building gundams or super powerful weapons and sell to the players at a very high place. It's a long road but it's rewarding if you choose to spend endless hours of doing it...
Here's a quick start of how to craft:
Basically for MS/MA crafting, you need 2 things before making, the engine for the machine and the materials. So you have to go the materials shop, buy the necessary materials to make that particular machine and then go to engine shop to buy the necessary engine to make that particular machine. Once you do that, you go to the MS/MA Factory, and develop and make the machine there. Afterwards, you can "take out" which will be on your hangar where you can sell at machine shop or trade or do w/e OR you can dismantle it by reverting it back to the materials for faster skill points. But you will lose your engine and won't get all materials back.
For weapons crafting, it's easier, since weapons don't require an engine, all you need to do is get the necessary materials then go to weapons factory to make it. After that, you can only take out the weapon and sell/trade it.

One last note to make about this. Once you got familiar of making the basic crafting, I strongly recommend to get a macro program to do this automatically while you are afk as crafting can be tedious and annoying since the skill point will go up REALLY slow after a while as it goes higher level...
While the TeamLiquid Zeon Team is being taken care of own its own and led by CrackSpdier93, the EFF players aren't organized yet, partly for my fault for not being active to start something up. Thus, I want to do a gathering for the TeamLiquid EFF players sometime this week for all TLers in EFF to come together at a city and commence the celebration and commendation for the creation of TeamLiquid EFF Team that will be led by me, QuickStriker. Along with the special gathering, I also want to bring out my Mobile Suit crafter and bring out suits for the team as well to celebrate. As such, to see when is good for everyone, here is a poll for this week:

I'll add more details in regards to the setup and choices of mobile suits in terms of engine, color, upgrades, etc for the team so stay tune for that as well!
After some discussions within the players and the thread and from TL Zeon players, I decided to put forth on the motion of the creation of TeamLiquid Team for the Gundam MMO!!!
There will be two teams for each side, the Earth Federation team led by QuickStriker and the Zeon side led by CrackSpider93. Please contact the respective individual for invitation as joining the team works with the team leader meeting up with you and adding you to the team list after meeting face to face. It's the only way as this game doesn't allow long distance adding people...
Note: It is not mandatory to join but being part of the TeamLiquid team makes you look cool and be able to play along with other TLers. I mean come on, who wouldn't want to show our TL pride to all these scrubs out there who doesn't know what Starcraft is. We can play and talk about Starcraft at the same time!
On this game, there is a team system, sorta like a clan where under your name tag, you see your team/clan tag as well. If we get enough people who are interested of playing from TL, I was thinking of creating a TL clan/team for this Gundam MMO under the team "TeamLiquid". However, a team can only be EFF (Earth Force Federation) only or Zeon only as I have heard... thus, if we are going to create a team for TL, there must be one for EFF and another for Zeon.
Note: This is only if we have a good # of TLers playing this game!
Since I am strictly an EFF player, I can lead the EFF team while someone else can lead Zeon. I can train that person to lead the team. Also, no team can be repeated name twice so we cannot have the name "TeamLiquid" for both EFF and Zeon so if there is going to be 2 TL team, then we need to make something like "TeamLiquid EFF" and "TeamLiquid Zeon" or TL EFF and TL Zeon or a custom name for EFF/Zeon..... orrr we can all be part of the EFF and just call it "TeamLiquid" :D

oo, a gundam based game sounds awesome! The trailers don't look that great tho, the world looks really empty. If I have time over the weekend, I will love to try it out
These trailers were made back in September and during beta testing. Now we have like 1k users logging on at same time at most and more are joining on. Keep in mind that it's a private server and this game is sorta hidden from public knowledge unless you dig it up like mindlessly googling. See ya in the game!
I was interested in this game for a while and I found out about this shortly after it was shut down in 2007. The only problem I might have is the small amount of mobile suits (although most of my favorite MS's are in the game but I dislike the lack of Blue Destiny MS's and the Thoroughbred Gundams) and the limited areas (only space and Austrailia are playable).
For those who are not interested in the One Year War and like series such as Wing, G, or Seed may be interested in SD Gundam Online. I recommend the TW version as it doesn't require an National ID number like the Chinese, HK, and KR verisons and is not IP blocked like the JP version. KR has the most content as it was the first version but the TW version has a decent amount since it is the the third region it was released in. I remember seeing SD Gundam Online commercials during Proleague matches several months ago. Honestly, I wasn't too impressed and the fact that it's "SD" which really looks small and not really like a true gundam game. It is still interesting but this could be saved for another different thread. This thread/OP is about the UC one but good find.
Bumping to see if anyone knows about it, have this game yet, or to see if there's any interest in TL. I even had dreams that there were like 50 replies to this thread all interested and planning to form a TL team only to find my dreams crushed when I woke up several minutes ago. Seriously, I am dead serious about that dream....

I'm assuming the game is SD for the same reason the G Generation and Super Robot Wars games have SD characters. Sunrise charges heavy licensing fees for the full sized robots.I'm assuming netmarble has to pay a lot due to the high amount of playable mobile suits in the game and therefore the characters are SD to reduce these fees.

I'll probably play this when I have the time. As I said I wanted to play this back when the official server was still running. I'm planning on joining Zeon since most of my favorite mobile suits for that faction are playable (GM Sniper II is tempting but GM Custom is still my favorite GM and Gundams G04, G05, Blue Destiny, and Mudrock aren't playable).
Ugh this makes me wish for Zone of the Enders 3 already, I'm so sick of mech games with boring combat. The brilliance of the lore is the agility/power of the machines, not just how badass they look. Combine Devil May Cry's combat with Gundam lore and you would have an amazing game.

OYW Gundam is more known for its realism (compared to the Super Robot shows of the 60's and 70's) than how the mobie suits look. All the other stuff with OP weapons and more creative designs (God, Wing, X, Freedom, etc.) came later.
Have you ever tried out Gundam vs. Gundam NEXT (PSP and Aracade) or Gundam Seed Rengou vs. ZAFT series (PS2 and Arcade)? Both have pretty fast paced combat but its 2v2 combat for the most part.
So the last couple of days, I've seen players with progamer's ID which just confused me and scared me for a sec to check if they're really progamers. Turns out, obviously unless it's Stork/Dinotoss, there is no way a progamer would play this Gundam MMO and not practice BW....
Funny enough though, I spotted Hyuk and NaDa. Turns out, Hyuk is a friend I know from RL who doesn't go to TL much or at all except he knows I'm crazy about Hyuk and is his #1 fan... so he decided to troll me...
NaDa, I have no clue.... I spotted him on the field and talked to him and he's definitely an English player but he didn't really talk much and just ran... I'm assuming he's from TL b/c English player + Starcraft ID = 99.8% from TL. So will the real NaDa please stand up???
To get you guys started, there are plenty of english players at Perth (for EFF) and Bris (for Zeon) so I recommend each of you to head there. I'm going to be on soon and for people in EFF, I can create your first custom GM suit for free so hit me up on this thread/PM for details!! Congrats and see ya in game! ^_^

You start of with two MS's in your hangar. I'm in Zeon and I started with 2 Zaku I's. I don't know about EFF though.
Also if you have the money(which you get from fighting npcs) you can buy a MS at the machine shop. If you don't have the money and you lose your MS from dying, you can always get a free tank there and a tank cannon at the weapons shop.
Before going into battle buy a weapon and the appropriate ammo as well as repair kits at the weapons shop and equip it to your MS or tank.
If anyone is around, I'll be around in Perth in 10 minutes to anyone who needs help getting started! Also potentially your first custom GM that I can make for you guys if my crafter can get down there in space in time...
Also for EFF players, your first suit is a "Trainer GM" which is alright to start with but a Trainer GM suit is the lowest suit of them all so once you get the money, I will recommend you a RGM-79L Light Armor or I'll just make a RGM-79 for ya if you and I are around at same time.
Also, note again that most English players are located at Perth for EFF and for Zeon, it's Brisbane city.
Lastly, you can use "taxi" in city by going /taxi which cost 650 money and to get off taxi or vehicle, /getoff. To get to different locations like different cities or bases or etc, type /transport and click location to do so and you'll fly there in minutes at most!

*Edit* My friend known as "Hyuk" is in the game at perth if anyone needs help. Free feel to bug the hell out of him into submission. He'll take your MS request if you need and he'll tell me what to make while I"m at space, crafting....

EDIT: i am sadly disappointed in this game. I have so far invested 3 hours into it and i could not find a bit of combat. Its all endless travel to a 'battlefield' that doesnt exsist.... If im doing it wrong then please instruct me to the proper way of playing this game.

My IGN is Suiyobi. I need help bad. I'm currently at Perth Supply 41 trying to find enemy NPCs to attack with my TGM-79 and a Long Rifle, but the enemies are just too hard and I don't know where to find easier enemies..

Sorry to hear that. Basically, to answer your question for combat for NPC, like said in guide and such, you would have to go to supply bases by doing /transport (not in suit at the time) and go to a supply base. When you arrive to a supply base, you usually just have to go north or south of the map of where the supply base is so click map from menu and find the direction of north/south and after a good minute or two of walking, you'll find some NPCs.
For beginning new players, I suggest going to any of the SYDNEY SUPPLY BASES because they are the easiest and meant for beginners where you go north/south of base and find tanks and zaku1s to fight. You'll get the hang of it. Once you feel you master that, go to PERTH SUPPLY BASES for more harder ones.
Also, there are 2 PvP warzones of literally just battlefield and taking territories at Newman/Richmond every 3 hours. Check the Strategy option on menu to see the timers...

Like stated above, I recommend SYDNEY supply bases first because they're just so much easier whereas in Perth bases, you'll find Doms, Zaku2s and much harder Zeon forces....

Well, if you look at the FAQ/Guide section of my OP, there is a menu translation for the "Options" section. For the rest, it's pretty much self explanatory. I remember something like this was asked on the forums of the game and everyone bashed that guy for being spoiled or something....

I saw a similar thread on the forums just now about this and not sure if that's you with the new post but the answers are there and someone else answered this I think. Basically, it could be that you didn't have the update file in the same folder on the UCGO folder or clicked the wrong application to start the game which should be "UCGOClient". Let me know how's things going there...

I just made a long post but want to say one more thing in regards to a possible TL gathering at Sydney city to have all new players get started so you guys feel the excitement and feel you're not missing out or feel mad for not knowing how to play.... when do you think is a good time for you guys for it? Do you think it's a good idea? Should I make a poll??

I'll be glad to be the leader of the TL Zeon team. I wasn't planning on switching to EFF permanently, I was just gonna make a character to play with the other TL players since most of them play EFF. I still would have mostly played with my Zeon character.

Terrakin there's money in your bank and it automatically uses it for you if you don't carry any. Also you should use /transport because if you're walking in a MS it DOES take a very very VERY long time.

For all TL EFF players interested of a TeamLiquid EFF team, please answer the poll! Again, this is only for the TL EFF players. I'll add more details in regards to the setup and choices of mobile suits in terms of engine, color, upgrades, etc for the team so stay tune for that as well!

Hmm... I personally think it's a very fun game if you are a gundam fan like I am! I never played ultima online too but on this game, there are all sorts of skills you can build and combine to make it into any type of class you want to form as a fighter, whether it's melee, mid-range, long range, sniping. You start as a human being and there are many types of suits and vehicles to pilot and use, whether it's mobile suits, gundams, mobile armors, tanks, fighter planes, etc.
The main grind thing to do is to fight NPCs which has different difficulties as some are easy NPCs and others are harder with better chance to get skills and better items. There are also PvP battles, raids that people often do in groups and teams, and etc!
Take a look, think about it and good luck making a decision to play or not! Hope to see ya in game!

I remember after skimming through countless pages of the forum of the private server, I found a question about this. If I remember correctly, it is ok to do this (like how other MMOs have private servers too) as long as it's not for profit or require any form of payment (even donations). The "admin" who created the existence of this private server have taken excessive measures to not be hit with lawsuits or legal issues if anything comes up so I think it is safe for good...
Hey guys, I was asked a question earlier about how to craft MS/MA and weapons and I gave some useful tips and I figured it'll be good for anyone else here to get the same help I gave him to you guys. I put it on OP as well under "How to Craft" section but here's the copy/paste of what I said about MS/MA Crafting and Weapons Crafting for anyone who is interested of starting their own!
Basically for MS/MA crafting, you need 2 things before making, the engine for the machine and the materials. So you have to go the materials shop, buy the necessary materials to make that particular machine and then go to engine shop to buy the necessary engine to make that particular machine. Once you do that, you go to the MS/MA Factory, and develop and make the machine there. Afterwards, you can "take out" which will be on your hangar where you can sell at machine shop or trade or do w/e OR you can dismantle it by reverting it back to the materials for faster skill points. But you will lose your engine and won't get all materials back.
For weapons crafting, it's easier, since weapons don't require an engine, all you need to do is get the necessary materials then go to weapons factory to make it. After that, you can only take out the weapon and sell/trade it.

One last note to make about this. Once you got familiar of making the basic crafting, I strongly recommend to get a macro program to do this automatically while you are afk as crafting can be tedious and annoying since the skill point will go up REALLY slow after a while as it goes higher level...

Awesome! But yes, there are many differences between EFF and Zeon! Different weapons, mobile suits, cities, etc. But the "gundams" are only from EFF....
Basically if you are unfamiliar with the story, it's a war between 2 different sides and both are unique and powerful in different ways... but among the TeamLiquid players, as much non bias as I want to be, you can say the EFF is stronger with me on it with various skills I possess though the Zeon have been more organized so far with their team creation being set and stone already.

Unfortunately, no, because this is based on the ORIGINAL GUNDAM SERIES back in 80s with the original gundam and original mobile suits and etc that many rabid fans have always dream of living. But there are several different types of gundams and some of them look cool.
A better way to talk to me besides this thread would be PMs here on TL or find me in-game so we can add each other on Friend's List and talk on "Group Chat" but I'm somewhere far atm in game doing something atm....
I'm at Melbourne Supply 48 right now if anyone needs me. To get there just use the /transport command. If I'm not there I'm probably hunting nearby tanks.

I did mention SDGO in an earlier post however (I might make a thread on it if I start playing it again). The official UCGO server was located in Japan but I don't know where the private server is located. If you do play SDGO which server do you play on?

I think Japan is least least updated version since it came out last year. The other versions are pretty close to Korea by now (mainly HK and TW). I played on the TW server since most foreigners play on it as it doesn't require an ID.

I've been on everyday crafting MS and playing on and on and now good news for TLers on EFF side! I can make custom GM Light Armors so if anyone is interested for their custom suits, PM me or post on this thread!

Be careful of the raids...... they're deadly when random EFF players come in to attack and destroy all the crafters and then either loot what you have or run away afterwards just to screw with you guys...

According to my sources from others I've heard, there are quite a bit of raiding groups of EFF players who would go to almost all the cities and space to mess with Zeon's production and loot what they have. Besides the city Brisbane which is heavily guarded and no right minded EFF player would raid, all places aren't that safe for Zeon. Especially Darwin and Adel. Especially this particular English team I heard who basically raid every single day in an annoying way as I heard... so I wish you good luck! ^_^

Also, I've heard from a friend that the federation players love to raid space a lot and mess up all the crafters and loot afterwards so I'd keep a lookout for that since you never know where and when they hit...

Haha, I did that a few times in the beginning too lol. I finally got to delete those characters (which you need to wait 2 weeks it seems) and now know what the heck I'm doing. Also, a truck cost 40k I believe at the machine shop, and starting MS cost like 176k though if you are going to buy a suit, I don't recommend a GM Trainer but instead, a GM or a GM Light Armor as they are a big upgrade than a Trainer suit (and cost only like 40k more....) I can hook you up with one easy when we meet up! ^_^

Ah no, that's cool! I'm from NY so yea, I am one hour ahead of you. Unfortunately, 11 PM is when Proleague start and I'm going to be busy watching Storkkkkkkkkk since I might be translating as well. Yes its so weird because itll load past the loading screen on my laptop but refuses to do so on this one...taken out firewall,forwarded ports, ran in compatability mode/as admin yet nothing changes.

About to tear my hair out, wtf, it works on every computer I own that can't run it except the one that can. Tried uninstalling AV, forwarding ports, removing firewalls, tried it all and yet it still refuses to load.

Ouch, I don't know what to say... I'm sure someone would eventually respond on that main forum. I really never encountered the problem and not sure how to fix your problem... hmm... what about the "Tech Support" forum on TL? I never tried posting there but I roam around few times and there are people who help as you go along, especially our wizard, R1CH. Maybe you should making a small but detailed thread on Tech Support forum under General Forum... Good luck and let me know if there's anything I can help with!

Did you download the updates that's also in the DL page? After you dl it, you put it into the UCGO folder, then you double click it to update the game. Then you click on "UCGOClient" to play the game. Don't forget to also download the "Richmond/Newman" Update that's on front page as well. Same step of how to update it (put in UCGO folder, double click, wait few seconds to update)

Hello stumbled across this site on google, I'm an active member of the english UCGO community so If you guys have any questions I'll try and answer for you.
Bubo, make sure you extract the UCGOupdate.exe/.zip into the UCGO client file, overwriting anything.
If you cant get past the load screen more times then not it's your anti virus software, I had this problem ages ago and had to get rid of the software on my system. Or it could be a torrent program also, uninstall and try that.
Same thing as Riley, I have also stumbled across this site somehow, I would like to say that as you get better skills, meet new people, and get new MS, the game becomes enjoyable. If you need help just ask anybody with a English nametag! In this game, theres no shame in asking for help, so just ask away. :3
