I have done like nothing but sleep some, cook and eat, and play skyrim for 3 days. I was ashamed, but now I am just bewildered lol. I had it preloaded, and it took an hour to find the CTD hotfix. I only slept friday night, and the other days I head-desked for about an hour. Caffeine. I'm also only level 32, I tend to derp around more than I should. | ||

I was in Ivarstead in the Inn, I talked to some mage dude about a drinking contest (I won ofc.) and then it started some crazy questline where I blacked out and woke up on the other side of the map in a place called Markarth. Since that happened I've gone through and done the main "Forlorn" questline involving being sent to jail to then break out etc. I now have quite a lot of side quests for various NPC's in this city, so I am progressing through those. One of them involved clearing out a nearby camp, which I did no problem.... HOWEVER, during a frenzied attack on some Forlorn I noticed a horse fighting out of the corner of my eye. Thinking it was MY horse being attacked, I ran and slayed the random dudes attacking it. Then I see the infamous "1000 Bounty Added to Reach" in the top left of my screen...Looking down at the corpses I see one of them was a "Noble" dressed in fancy clothing (didn't notice at the time) to which I think "Oops" as I am trying to play my character as honorably and crime free as possible. So here's the problem. I head back to Markarth to hand in a quest to have the guards approach me to try and arrest me. This is what's weird, there's no option to pay my bail off. I have 3 options which are 1) It wasn't me, I was framed! (That never works and they know I am lying) 2) Ok, I confess, take me to jail 3) I'd rather die than go to jail! The next problem is, if I select the "Take me to jail" option, they go into the dialogue of "You're going to Cidhna Mine, you'll never see the light of day again." but... nothing... the NPC just stands there and then the chat options reset??? So I select the first option of "I was framed!" and they don't buy it, like I said above. So I think you know where this is heading - I literally have no option but to fight every guard in Markarth as I can't pay off this damn bounty! I want to finish up the side-quests there but it's not really feasible when I have to storm through 10 guards every time. Sorry for the in-depth essay but hopefully you may find it at least a little amusing lol! Here's a TL;DR for people who don't want to read. TL;DR - Why do I have no option to pay off my bail? Due to the fact it's Markarth it won't send me to the jail either. Meaning I literally have to fight every guard in the city! Is there any way to fix this dilemma!? | ||

+ Show Spoiler + Don't read unless you've done the last non-generic Dark Brotherhood quest: + Show Spoiler + So I bought a Torture Chamber for my new sanctuary. Does anyone know if the Torture Chamber victims will respawn? I accidentally killed one of them. They are great for training destruction and restoration. Flame spell in one hand, healing hand in the other = infinite supply of flesh to burn and heal. So awesome! They also give away secrets if you torture them enough  That's why I want to know if they respawn if I kill all of them. Would be an awesome way to farm gold :DDD | ||

+ Show Spoiler + And by some i mean, seemingly unlimited Steel Arrows + Show Spoiler + The spot I found was in solitude just outside the keep, there is a soldier practicing his archery by shooting at a target. Simply take all the arrows that hit the target. I think you can even start him shooting, then leave and wander around and come back and there will be HEAPS stuck in the target (obviously don't zone out). And no this doesn't give you a bounty, nor is it stealing. Good if you need arrows to level your archery or something | ||

So I've got to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\Skyrim in order to edit the SkyrimPrefs file there, and none of the changes are showing up in my game. I've tested this with different FOV changes, and it doesn't change at all. Even if I change the FOV to 140! All the other attempts of editing the file such as removing mouse acceleration has also fallen flat. So why is this? Why aren't the changes in the file effecting the game? Am I doing something wrong, or has anyone else noticed this? I have saved it, ofcourse, after each edit. I'm just really baffled cos' it appears to work for most people and not me  Any help appreciated, thanks! | ||

Then just save and you're good. Might disable Steam achievements until you exit and reload the game. | ||
