1. The leans (by default E and Q) - Are they really useful? Action is so fast and the lean is so small, Do ppl use them and do you keep the default key? 2. The run - jump - prone technique. I've seen alot of good ppl do it. It seems very good but again, the controls seems hard. I run with alt then jump with space and then you have to hold ctrl to stay proned ? This one seems hard to execute especially when you encounter someone on a corner, but again it seems pretty effective. n1 have tips on this one? 3. I use E for Lethals. ( Again, I don't lean), What do you use? 4. I use X to knife (cause it's close to my Run (alt)) But I also find this ineffective. 5. Switch to pistol is 1 by default or mouse wheel, I find it kinda slow, do some ppl use Q like in CS:S? I would like if anyone can post their key setup and give advice about technique to master, I'm new to the COD franchise but I still managed to have good result online, I just want to get better fast. And for those who wonder I don't have a 3rd button on mouse (razer salmosa) and I own a Filco keyboard. Thanks ! | ||

I barely use it, seen some people use it to jump on a flag or behind a bombsite to plant a bomb, but never really effective. Funny when someone does it right in front of you and you just pop them. 3. Lethals are Ctrl for me, with Shift being run, so I can use my pinky for both. 4. Middle mouse button. 5. Thumb mouse button. Keep in mind though, I don't even use WASD control scheme, so my setup might be different. Either way I think you should utilize your mouse buttons more. | ||

I usually play on a hardcore server with 14-18 people and just running around will get you killed pretty fast. Leaning out of a corner can make it easier to see if anyone is coming without getting your head shot off. As far as control goes.. i just use the default. When I played cod4 i was pretty annoyed with the control scheme but i got used to it and its pretty comfortable for me now. Besides, you're on an SC site, how is 1, 4, etc hard to reach? Original sc was so much harder in terms of key placement. | ||

By "hard to reach" I meant that if you press 1 you have to remove your finger from W which can be deadly but if you use Q, it's just faster and you remove your finger from A which is better IMO. But again, if you use the leans, it doesn't work. That is why I'd like to know other good player config. | ||

I guess all the wow arena forced me to use the number keys. | ||

This way you can just stop holding the Shift, and sprint somewhere, or whatever you want to do easily, and you don't have to hold the hotkey to prone. Also you can get up from prone by pressing Shift, and then you can either continue to hold it if you need to take cover, or just press it once to stand up. Don't know if they have that much toggle/hold options in Black Ops though. If the lean is at least the same it was in CoD4, you can use it to lean towards the wall in order to hide better, or just to be more covered behind the small objects, or if the enemy is above, and such. It's useless for looking behind the corners, but you can use it to be smaller target if you are camping at some choke and expect them to come from specific direction. | ||

lean is pretty useful in those mid range cover/corner fights to get the best angle and such, pretty as in very useful really. | ||
