Over the beta weekend I had 2 of my friends with me and we tried out WvW (deldrimor) and it was very fun. We were the red team - we occasionally ran with random groups to go zerg something and basically had fun learning the mechanics. Our problem, though, was that when it was just two or three of us, it became very hard to find anything we could do to make progress. At one point blue had taken over the entirety of the Red Borderlands and had us trapped in our citadel.. My question is, in a situation like that, what can we possibly do besides wait it out for more people? Is there ANYTHING productive we could be doing? We found it very hard to take over supply camps with just the few of us. We tried hunting dolyaks, but when you get pinned down and murdered by a group of 6-7 guys, you have a looooong way to get back to where you were and it's just not that fun at that point. I was streaming for the hell of it: http://www.twitch.tv/sluggythezealot/b/316638466 47 minutes in you can see what I'm talking about, we had resigned ourselves to our fate at that point. I'm also interested in becoming good at thief, but maybe that is a post for another time.

I literally can not wait until the next beta event, and just as SWTOR ruined mmo's for me with its story driven questing system, i feel as if dynamic events have ruined questing for me in other mmo's lol. The possibilities with classes with weapon switching , traits , skill points makes for a really unique customizable experience I cant wait to see all the different viable builds for each class, and i am really looking forward to eventually trying out the dungeons. If our toons reset for the next beta event im going to have to probably pull consecutive all nighters to get to get to 30 so i can try out that first dungeon which looks pretty interesting. Visually from what ive seen the dungeons look less impressive then some of the more standout flashpoints in swtor(really ive only seen footage from ascalon catacombs) but they also look very challenging and i cant wait to see how doing a dungeon with no holy trinity works out, i cant even imagine how it would play out. With dynamic events happening the "hard modes" of the dungeons it seems as if the replayabiltiy of these dungeons will be quite impressive. Although I am concerned about the fact that their are only 3 dungeons at the end game , I really hope there is enough for me as a PVE player to keep me occupied. I think it would be nice if they added skills that allowed players to play in the holy trinity style if they chose to, but that it wasnt mandatory, it would possibly allow them to create content with a larger amount of players ie. raids. Im perfectly fine with no raids as i can still get my fix from that in swtor (i dont plan to unsub for this game, i only really log on 2-3 times a week to raid and on weekends to level up my sorc and i dont expect that to change). Raids probably wouldnt work at all in guild wars anyways it would be too much of a clusterfuck with characters not having specific roles and probably would be too unorganized to create enjoyable encounters. As long as the 5 man dungeons provide a real challenge in the exploration modes ill be perfectly fine with that. I am worried about how end game will play out but as long as their are challenging end game dynamic events that should keep your average PVE player occupied for quite a while. I thought it was pretty cool how they described how they are planning on implementing new dynamic events after launch, they said they will not be telling players about them they will just add them and wait for players to discover them, and they plan on adding them for all levels across all zones not just end game ones. Sounded pretty cool when he said that say you level up your first toon and then a few months later make a new one and you start going through the different zones, only to have a completely different experience beceause of all the new events that have been added a zone that had 100 dynamic events could have 200 by the time you return back there months down the road(obviously an exxageration on the devs part lol) still its very intriguing. I still worry about the scaling of dynamic events though, the scaling system needs some serious work. Say there are 10 players to begin with, and the event scales to that, then a few more join and a few are passing through the area but not joining in for whatever reason, then say over the course of the event many people die well there is a problem with that in the current system. If 30 people are playing the event and 10 die, and 5 give up for whatever reason and 5 return well the first waves that scaled to 30 people are still in there wreaking havoc and if players cant kill them more waves still come. I like a challenging experience as much as the next guy, but in some of the events i played with 3 of my other friends even as a group alot of times we would return only to see 50 centaurs overunning the place with only 10 people there actually fighting and those people wouldnt last more than a few seconds should they actually try to engage. Dynamic events can turn bad really quickly when this happens so i really hope its something they work on, its not like this type of thing was happening all the time i had many succesful dynamic events but it was still happening and people where getting incredibly frusterated. It shoul never be impossible to complete a dynamic event if a group of people meet the requirements even if the odds are against you. That being said this is a great game that has a few kinks to work out, luckily this was only the first beta event of (hopefully) many to come, cant wait to try out the other races and see their starting zones /walloftext

I still loved this game, and after getting frusterated with the norne area made a human noble thief and had such a great time, the human area feels alot more polished and the story is alot less cheesy and more comedic. I've seen at least 20 of those 100 people get 1 shot due to the mass number of Centaurs riding in. None the less, it's an EPIC game and is only the beta. Had so much fun trying 5 professions out, and personally i can't see my self going back to any other MMO at this point.

For the next beta weekend, will I be able to re-pick my Homeworld? I really want to play on the TL server as there's only 4-5 of us playing on this random one and it'd suck if I'm screwed until launch. I also noticed that even if you delete your only character on your homeworld you can't re-pick the homeworld. :/ Hopefully there's a data wipe of sorts so that more people can get on the realm with the TL guild >_>

Assuming the server names stay the same, which server where you guys playing on and will you be going back to the same one? I want another beta weekend NAO! After remaking a human thief after having a pretty meh time as a Norn Necro i had such an amazing time with this game, story wise , dynamic event wise, zone wise it was fantastic.

Yeah the dynamic event scaling is something that the devs noticed and responded to posts about on the beta forums, and they've said they'll be looking into adjusting the way in which certain events scale to correct some issues that arose. There's definitely a lot of tuning adjustments to be made, but if they can get the tuning correct I can see it making a real drastic improvement to some areas.

I'm curious as to how the pet abilities work such as the Ranger's, Necro's, and Mesmer's. One of my major issues with my old DAoC hunter toon was that my pet was kind of difficult to control and somewhat worthless, especially in PvP. People would just target me, and being a Hunter I would die fairly quickly while my pet did some small damage. Definitely going to try and weasle my way into the TL world (Crystal Desert yes?) as things are obviously more fun when you can find other fools to waste some time with. Unrelated note: great music from the vid above (edit: except the last song)
