They dont want people writing addons that prompt when to dodge or block and things like that. And they are too lazy to write anything that resembles a competent combat log.

Indeed. I hate WoW for having customizable addons. You don't even need to play the game anymore, every little thing you need to do is told to you by a program.

I never had that luxury because I was always killing things before addons were written for them. Asking for a system for breaking down damage and reading it is important though.

Theres no reason to hate the option for add-ons, If you hate it so much, don't use them.
Everyone else can enjoy them at their leisure.

Well addons that overtly tell you what to do can be bad for the overall experience because now encounters have to be tuned for them to be a challenge. That being said tera is just a different monster altogether.

End game, you guys will notice that boss gimmicks are posted in the middle of the screen like your favorite boss mod would do anyway.

Well, there is the argument that once certain add-ons become prevalent, the devs must start developing fights around them otherwise they become trivial for those that use them. This did become a bit of an issue in WoW, but I still loved a lot of the purely cosmetic ones--you could get such a clean, sleek, personalized UI.

What's the point of playing the game if...well you dont have to play the game? The addon plays the game for you. That's what should not be happening. It's telling you an attack the monster is going to do before it even starts an animation for it. That's broken.

If I pick this up I don't think I'd be able to play until the actual release day--will I be way behind? Seems like the leveling is very fast?

Edit: mostly just worried about already being endlessly camped on a PvP server.

Yeah i think we all have the same issue.

Endgame has all the boss mods you want anyway.

Game is channel based so generally you can just move aside to a different channel.
