CJ caught the ball in the endzone, fell to the ground. As he got up pretty much right after hitting the ground, he left the ball on the ground.

The rule states (apparently) that possession must be maintained through the whole "process of the play", whatever that means, and apparently the play wasn't over when either a) CJ hit the ground or b) the ball hit the ground (in CJ's possession).

You make the call.

And I'm still going to claim we won that one 20-19. Because dammit, we did. That rule/interpretation, at least in this situation, is obvious total BS.

That is unfuckingreal. The Bears don't deserve that win; Megatron deserved the TD. That rule needs to be fucking reevaluated, it's as bad as the motherfucking tuck rule. I just got robbed of a 9pt TD. FUCK! I would have taken a 71-63 lead with that TD. All I can do is wish horrible things to happen to all of the NFL referees and rule makers. kjlfgh

Like the announcers are saying though, a runner only has to break the plain then it's a touchdown even if he loses the ball. Where as he had the ball all the way down to the ground.

Uh thats fucking retarded, because isn't the play OVER when you know HES FUCKING ON THE GROUND IE DOWN. Not to mention he already had possession of the ball in the endzone which should auto end the play. Just like guys dropping the ball as soon as they walk into the endzone. WTF.

It's a terrible rule. I think everyone understands the rule, but that doesn't make it any less terrible.
