Both Diablo and Diablo II had foul environments which gave an incredible atmosphere to the game. However, online multiplayer ruined the fear factor. Single player was creepy sometimes. | ||

I mean it isn't the hardest game if you just clear every monster in all areas and wait till all the right levels to move on, but if you actually play at a good pace instead of waiting for drops and such you can have some tough battles. I'm not saying its harder than 1 but it isn't a cakewalk if you don't want it to be. | ||

Keep in mind there are plenty of ways to make it harder yourself as well. Thats one of the things that I love most about it, and probably one of the biggest reasons(along with the loot whoring and economy side of it) that the game really had some long term playability. Hardcore, playing without using tps to escape, playing a 2-8 player game solo, playing a weird build(necro using mostly curses), using only certain items(bow barb), trying to do set areas without going back to town, no/few potions, using only what you find/using only what you buy from vendors, speedruns, etc. There are plenty of things you can do with the game to challenge yourself if you think its too easy. | ||

yea the butcher was scary, but once you knew the stair trick he was easy- run to stairs, keep the stairs between you and him, then plug him full of arrows what was really scary- was those acid spitting dogs in the catacombs; if you're unlucky enough to get stunned locked, or shield block locked you are screwed....and since i was playing hardcore ironman (where you never go to town once you go into the dungeon) i died..a lot...no shield for me | ||
