EDIT (Aug 15th): more pictures
I have been playing some Diablo 2 lately (USEast Hardcore Ladder). I had been playing Diablo on and off for almost 8 years. However it is only recently that I realized how creepy this game is.
Back then I probably focused only on getting godly items. In my opinion this game has some really, really creepy artistic designs. While this is expected as Diablo is supposed to be a "dark fantasy" RPG game, some of the scenes are in fact quite disturbing.
I have attached some screenshots I took with some commentaries. As mentioned previously, some of them can be quite graphic.
Also I'd like to say that I think these details really make Diablo 2 an awesome game (forget about the bugs, the bots, the spammers, the dupes, the scammers, and the relatively poor design of PvE and PvP mechanisms by today's standard).

I never noticed those things when I was playing back when I was little... I just thought that Anderiel is naked and she has boobs.

this is nothing compared to diablo 1. THAT game scared the living shit out of me as a child lol diablo 2 was a walk in the park compared to diablo 1

Yeah it's pretty damn brutal. Of course when you're actually playing it's kinda just backgrounded by the loot and epicness.

Ya man I loved the style of Diablo 2 and it was probably the first online RPG i ever played faithfully or stuck to for more than a week good times.

Ever see the butchers 'den' in Diablo 1? That place is horrid. I used to never want to do the quest when I was younger because it was so scary :[

That's a good point. I have noticed that Diablo 3 has so far not featured any "creepy" arts. I am thinking they may have abandoned this route which may repel some sensitive players.

Not nearly as creepy as Diablo 1. Even more if you include music.
Beating a dead horse here, but Diablo 1's atmosphere is waaaaaay cooler and darker than D2, even with all graphic advances....
Hoping D3 once again recaptures that feeling.

i was soo scared
i just ran the fuck out of that dungeon just straight the fuck out and back to the level above it and took some deep breaths

D2 was and still is the best RPG blizzard game ever.. I hope D3 can be as epic, i really hope they dont dumb it down.. this year i re-played again and it was so fucking great so i want the best for D3..

I was like 12, I nearly fucking had a heart attack when I first met the Butcher and his room full of bodies and limbs. Holy shit that was scary.

First time i played diablo 2 as a kid i had to get my dad to kill blood raven for me cause i was too scared haha :D
I told him it was cause it was too difficult, im sure he knew why though rofl

I loved the butcher. I suppose I was sort of a fucked up kid though, already pretty desensitized to most things lmao

Ya, Diablo 1 is far creepier. Imo a much "better" game, though D2 is lots of fun ^^.
