Well, let me expound on this. The majority of Ryze's damage comes from Spell Flux, which is a bouncing spell. Unfortunately this means that if bounces don't go your way (and many times they won't) you won't actually do much damage. Part of this is rectified by his ult turning Flux into a big ball of bouncing AoE, but aside from punishing positioning errors you'll find you still struggle to land a good Flux against an aware team. But more than that, when you're ganking, you have the problem where you simply can't bounce the Flux. A lot of times this means you have to run up to them to bounce the Flux off of yourself, but he doesn't have the movement speed nor disable to do this - his disable takes a long time to get good enough to pull this off. And of course, leveling the disable means you're even more reliant on the Flux to do damage because your one-shot nuke will be that much weaker. He's got essentially the same problem as Veigar and a host of other nukers, in that it's tough getting the 3rd skill over the two nukes, but in Ryze's case that prison is pretty critical, both for killing and surviving. He's also extremely fragile - it's hard killing Annie especially because of Shield, but Ryze has nothing. Also, Annie is a better farmer (Q + auto-attack), doesn't push creep as much (lol Flux), and has stronger lane control (at level 6 she gains an upperhand in almost every matchup). The last thing is something I mentioned in my big mountain post last night, in that Annie basically has an AoE stun every 10 seconds, assuming she stays alive. That's crazy. | ||

I remember they buffed Dazzle's damage a bit, but, ehhh, I'm not sold on ever taking it over Shatter/Heal personally. | ||
