I don't know if this is the cause of your problems, but if you want a surefire way to trade, currently i think the best way is through lan connection opposed to internet access.

Spiritomb - Shell Bell DarkPulse/Psychic/Confuse Ray/Shadow Ball Sableye - BlackGlasses FoulPlay/Poison Jab/Aerial Ace/Low Sweep Eelektross - Leftovers Flamethrower/Thunder(or Thunderbolt)/Flash Cannon/Your choice(I use rock slide) EV train all in HP, the two ghosts in SPatk and the Eel in SPdef or def. Spiritomb should be used as long as possible in the fight until he is KOed and then use Sable or Eel depending on the situation and what pokemon they have left to use.

apart from a few attacks, and then most normal type abilities, damage is based on special attack and defence. a team of pokemon, all stacked in special defence, using drains, accuracy reductions, sleep/paralysis and/or stat increasing/reducing moves and the leftovers item could result in an "unkillable" team. the types that rely on regular attack seem easily counterable, and using a normal/physical type ability on the other pokemon types results in either not using their generally higher special attack, or losing the STAB bonus, or both. all the talk in the forums seems about designing teams that just cover super effective damage types against the widest selection of opponents but, this super defensive playstyle would never die? opinions please

STAB attacks hurt just as much as super effectives, and they don't have the coverage or the power to kill the opponent before they get two or three hits off. I'm pretty sure you won't be killing anyone with Spiritomb unless you're throwing Wonder Guard on it. And Dark/Psychic/Ghost doesn't really give any coverage at all. Special Defense is defense against Special Attack. Defense is defense against Attack. If you stack your Pokemon with Special Defense then any one of fifty physical sweepers will walk in on you and you'll lose immediately. There's no "stacking" on Special Defense. Damage is based on the type of move, and the stat of whatever type that move is. Both move teams, Physical and Special are equally viable. Neither is "above" the other. Pokemon don't have generally higher Special Attack (don't go find an average to prove this wrong). Of course luck hax teams work. There are clauses in competitive play preventing multiple induced sleeps, or evasion modifiers. You can paralyze everything, but you're wasting a move, and a faster Pokemon will likely kill you eventually due to a miss, or attacking through Paralysis. STAB attacks are usually typed based on what the Pokemon's strongest attack stat is. You won't see a Scizor using a STAB Bug Buzz. Ever. And Physical moves hit Ghosts. Normal and Fighting type moves don't. There is no tendency for Pokemon to have terrible Special Defense (again don't find a figure showing -5 Base Stat in Special Defense). To put it simply, your entire knowledge of the game is flawed. Everything you say is a contradiction to fact. I think you may be thinking about first and second generation, where physical and special were based on the type of the move. But the only immune to ghost was normal still. There are normal type physical attacks, like Giga Impact, and normal type special attacks, like Hyper Beam. Pokemon using a physical attack will use their physical attack stat against the physical defense stat of the opponent.

If you stack your Pokemon with Special Defense, then hey, any one of fifty physical sweepers will walk in on you and you'll die immediately. i know that, but they tend to have terrible special defence, so even without maxxed out attack you can still go head to head with them, if they can even hit ghosts at all. seems to easy so deal with

It's all mostly common sense. You'll easily be able to play through the game because frankly most pokemon look like their typing. You just have to acclimate yourself to the fact that there are now physical grass type attacks and special fighting type attacks etc etc. The introduction of Steel and Dark types... and that's about it. Everything else is pretty much exactly the same. Thunderbolt will still rape your water starter and such. Now if you want to be competitive against other people...that'll take a lot longer because then it most certainly can get complicated. Figuring out the breeding mechanic, IV, EV's, hidden power, and egg moves can take awhile. For just leisure playing though it's still a very simple game and Black and White has some of the best music / story line since gen 1. I really like Gen 5 so far, even if it leans heavily toward fast gank type pokemon. I also just about completed my pokedex. The only pokemon im missing are things like Genesect.
