England is a lot stronger in BNW due to the importance of sea trade routes and the doubling of agents for putting on tourist pressure. They're probably one of the most well-balanced civs for any victory type.

I've had a lot of fun with small continents and/or large islands because the landmasses aren't quite big enough where the AI will turtle on one for the whole game and get super far ahead. You can also try tweaking the sea levels to the point that you're able to explore most of the world without going into ocean tiles so that it's easier to attack a someone who is off on their own continent/island but navies and water-based empires aren't totally gimped.

Indonesia is also pretty sad. Polynesia is ok -- you can explore the world quickly by sailing around it to find the best sites for sea-born trade cities and the big heads on the coast thing is strong since culture is so much more important now. Indonesia is stinky on anything that isnt small continents/archepelago because you need 3 cities to be overseas.

Overall, I find continent games more fun than pangaea overall

Won't pangaea be the same as continents if the runaway AI civ is on the opposite side from you? Pangaea changes the balance between land and sea trade routes.

So, as an avid Civ 5 player. Is BNW worth getting?

Any changes to that quick and dirty tradition opener in BNW?

I think barbs just murder than opening from what I've seen Dang. Even with 2 warriors you would have problems defending 2 workers while building 2 settlers, assuming you are on a reasonably sized continent and deity diff.

Can someone recommend some Deity level let's plays that aren't MadJinn?

I'm not a deity type, I'm the prince-immortal. Essentially I like that good eco start to give some wiggle room in the midgame as far as victory conditions and tech choices and diplomacy choices. When the previous "expansion" rewarded you for bribing your militaristic opponents to attack others by getting a shot at cultural or scientific on deity, I lost interest. Same on ICS-style strats. Just a casual gamer =) immortal's the farthest I take it

So if Christianity was split into differing "religions" or ideologues why wasn't Islam I wonder...
