But this map isn't without its imbalances. If you pick Germany or Russia, you're sure to be better off than if you pick Crimea. That is, unless some asshole picks Czechoslovakia and rapes you with mass hydras before you can get a decent sized army up ^^ | ||

@Phelix and the sci vessel thing, LOL. Who are you on scdiplo? And there's a couple people that have come and gone that played diplo that had good iccup ranks. Pretty sure gobias used to be amazing at it, hate[infi] used to be good, there's a couple 7.7 players hat used to be good. I think sw was good at it. Maybe some of the older players like euk and kingfeh, but idk really. | ||

I am Control301 on scdiplo and on Bnet. I didn't post there much, just looked at some forums, check what's happening, if there was any new version coming out. I remember when we played in a public diplo, you would always seem to be near me, and crush me. | ||

Oh you're right, my mistake. My points are still valid, Russia takes up like 1/5 of the map, which is a lot considering that there are 34 countries. | ||

What channels east/west do you guys meet for games in? Oh and to answer someones earlier question, one of my clanmates is C+ and played WW and Diplo maps for about 6years. D+/C- myself. | ||

The map is more strategical and tactical than mechanical. This isn't to say that the game isn't mechanically demanding -- you must micro well and expand quickly to be good at the map -- just that at the current level of play, strategy regularly trumps mechanics and APM. This, btw, is the least enticing part about your OP. It feels like another way of saying the people who win, win because they know more about an obscure game than their opponent did. That's what I hate about overly ambitious indie games. Hard to learn, easy to master player style that makes it inaccessible to newcomers and basically relies on knowing a few secrets to be on par with people who've played the game for months. This may be an incorrect interpretation, but it's how it comes off. Strategy must be variable to be interesting (like in StarCraft), and tactics must have some ability to overcome a strategic disadvantage (like in StarCraft). That is, there can't be an optimal or correct way of playing, which is what I always fear with games that describe themselves this way. | ||
