The graphics are way too cartoony for my taste. The game in general is too similar to D2 - combat wise, unidentified items, etc. At the end I would rather play d2 again.

YAY We have Skyrim to fill most of that. Luckily this might keep me busy until November :0 The only thing I didn't like about the original game was that they made a diablo clone and didn't really do anything extra. Sure it has an editor, but nothing really caught on content wise. There's some add-ons here and there that improve the game, but it's not morrowwind awesome. Maybe I was spoiled as a teenager and my standards are too high. This is looking more and more like a diablo 2 clone and while it (probably) won't be the most amazing game that comes out this year it'll be interesting enough to make it worth buying and spending time playing it. Hopefully the editor catches the interest of somebody amazing and we get some great content.

There are no subscriptions, microtransactions, etc. " - PvP - "The entirety of Torchlight 1 is equal to the 2/3 of the first Act of Torchlight 2. There are three full Acts and one Boss Act in Torchlight 2. Current quotes estimate at least three times as much content, if you do everything." - Full orchestral score recorded in live symphony - Mod tools are the dev tools - Lan/Online Coop

PAX Prime Interview Question Submission So, due to an awesome series of events, I have secured a media pass for Jerich to go to PAX this September. It's still over a month away, but I thought I'd give you all the chance to submit questions. We'll gather a lot of the questions and get as many of them asked as possible when Jerich meets with the Runic devs. Since this should be pretty close to release, I'm guessing anything is fair game to be asked at that point. You can thank Ben from Runic for hooking me up with the contact for the guy who gives out the media passes for making this possible. http://forums.runicgames.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=18626

Super-sized PC action RPG sequel Torchlight 2 is too big to fit on Xbox Live Arcade and will need to be "comprehensively redesigned" if it's ever to see a console release, developer Runic Games has revealed. CEO Max Schaefer told Eurogamer that it had only just managed to squeeze the original game below Microsoft's file size limit. As it stands, the significantly more ambitious sequel is not even close. Whereas the first game had just one just small town and a few dungeons, the sequel has vast outdoor areas, multiple hub cities, different terrain types and, crucially, co-operative multiplayer. "With Torchlight 2 there is a little more complication as far as just being able to do a straight port, as we did with Torchlight 1," he explained. "In all likelihood, if Torchlight 2 gets to the Xbox it would be probably fairly comprehensively redesigned. "We would have to be redoing the interface for a console release anyway, just like we did with Torchlight 1, so it would probably make sense to do something more specifically tailored to the Xbox. ![]() I still intend to buy Torchlight 2, but I'm just disappointed. It simply doesn't compare to Diablo if it has no legitimate online gameplay.

For Torchlight 2, "Runic will be releasing the same tools with which we made the game, including TorchEd 2.0 and our 3D Studio max exporters," says Russell. What can players expect to do with those? "TorchEd 2.0 is the in-house tool used to build our levels, skills, UI [user interface], quests, particles, items, monsters, and effects. We also use it to manage game statistics and balance." She continues, "The 3D Studio exporters will allow people to import their own models and animations." Worried that this all might be a little over your head? Fear not! TorchEd 2.0 will use "a visual logic system that requires no programming experience." Source

Runic Games unveiled the price point for Torchlight II today, and as promised, the studio continues to champion the model of affordable games with great value. Torchlight II will retail for $19.99 USD, the same price as the original Torchlight. “It’s always been our goal to provide exceptional value for the price,” says Max Schaefer, CEO of Runic Games. “Everyone who wants to play Torchlight II will be able to comfortably afford to do so, and they’ll be able to play with their friend online or via a LAN, or play single player offline, all with no further purchases.” Source
