woah why didn't I think about this thread before. So I'm in this other fantasy basketball league (not TL one) and I wanna trade cp3 away. The most decent offer I'm getting was cp3 + Brook Lopez for Dwight, Deron, and Allen Iverson. I countered with cp3 + brook + jermaine o neal for Dwight and Chrish Bosh. Does that sound fair? The reason I'm trading cp3 away is because my other players in my team does not revolve around assists, cp3 is like an outlier for my team (unless of course you say he can help me in steals). What would your offers be?

Stephen Jackson was suspended for 7 games for shooting a gun into the air during a bar brawl after he was suspended for attacking spectators. If Artest shot a gun into the air he'd get more, if Tim Duncan did so he'd become an honorary Texas Ranger for trying to keep a public dispute from getting out of control.
"Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas has been suspended indefinitely without pay pending completion of an investigation by the NBA into reports he brought firearms into the locker room. " Just saw this as "breaking news" on top of cbssports.com. I haven't seen an article on this yet though. Sounds pretty silly - bringing the gun into a locker room, not the suspension. There is no reason to need a gun at a basketball game.
Edit: Looking back, I see this has already been brought up.
oh I agree he's dumb for it. But the media is harping on this way too much. There are better things to report about in the NBA than something so petty as this. The guns were unloaded and in a locker, and he had a spat with a teammate. Sure he's stupid for it but do we really have to hear about this every where?
They were unloaded - it's not like he brought them in to use them. He's stupid for bringing them in to begin with, but it's different from bringing in a concealed handgun or whatnot. The only rule he's breaking is the one stipulated by the NBA barring possession of guns at NBA facilities - that's fine, but is that violation worth an "indefinite suspension" with Stephen Jackson firing into the air outside of a stripclub during a fight merits 7?
It's just more a case of "wrong time to screw up" it seems - he did it in a time when the NBA's got no other "bad news" floating around, so there's enough public scrutiny for him to be made an example of.
Think of it another way; if this had been done at his home, there would be nothing happening over this. He'd get a slap on the wrist. This whole furor simply is from it being in a locker room, and is that honestly worth going from 0 games suspension to indefinite? Don't get me wrong it's still breaking the rules so he'd obviously have to get penalized games, maybe 5-10 (call it inflation over Stephen Jackson's suspension), but come on.
I guess it depends what you mean by "flak" If you're referring to the immediate suspension then I disagree if you're talking about media coverage, then yes I agree with you, but with another recent athlete death (Chris Henry) are you really surprised that they're making a big deal of this?
Actually I am. The guns weren't loaded which means he didn't have any intent of shooting people. Which is why I'm surprised this is becoming a circus. Oh and just for kicks:
I haven't really been exposed to the media side of this, being at work right now. I just saw a little blurb on top of a sports website, so I can't really judge on that. But most sports coverage is ridiculous to begin with - think Brett Favre and his "will he retire or not" bs every summer. As for the suspension, you can't really judge that until how long we know the suspension will last. I don't care if the gun was unloaded, he still brought it into and NBA locker room and is getting suspended. I actually expect the suspension to be over the top - I bet the NBA won't want to appear soft over a player bringing a gun into the building.
