Scarlett is news because nobody knew who she was. As great as Scarlett has been at IPL, Illusion is still the most impressive random person to show up so far. But we'll see if that can be change.. Illusion isn't a random though. He got 24th at MLG Providence last year and was getting hype before that nice run, his IEM and team league performances. Look at his TLPD: over 120 games played. Scarlett had zero games before last weekend. Illusion is definitely better than Scarlett, but the dude isn't a random. No one is even close to Scarlett in terms of coming out of nowhere and performing. Not saying who I think is better overall, but if she and Illusion played I'd bet on Scarlett. I'm not saying aliens exist, but aliens exist! hahaha priceless Seriously though I think it would be a damn good match
lmao I meant averaged out every matchup Scarlett knew what I meant ^^

GJ. The Oz series in particular has piqued my curiosity, I'll have to hunt down the reps. http://www.twitch.tv/ignproleague2/b/314171966?t=52m35s Thx man.

Apparently she has really good ZvT (aka could maybe beat Illusion) but isnt as good as Illusion in the other matchups. It makes sense !
I agree, just screwing with him

Welcome home! Rest up, then practice like a unholy terror, so you can back up all the wild claims we lot have been flinging around the internets about u. <333

The graph you're citing is sorted by EAPM, which is a shitty and misleading statistic. You have players like IMMvp rating below Sheth (he's "anonymous"), as well as players like LosirA and Zenio topping the chart. EAPM is essentially a measure of whether you spam clicks or keyboard presses more; a lot of the time, players with high EAPM have it because every time they tell a unit to move they're clicking five times, whereas the player with lower EAPM but higher standard APM is spending that time tapping their production facilities instead of clicking.
It's just an awful statistic, I guess, is what I'm trying to say. Having 200 APM is somewhat "slow" for a pro, there's no real way around it. I've averaged out to 200 APM over 20-minute games, and I'm barely in diamond league.
That's not to say that being slow means that you're bad; Flash averages around 300 APM which is "slow" relative to the people he's playing against, but he still beats 70% of them.

Yeah he definitely wasn't well known, but I think random is just wrong in his situation. As soon as he was picked up by vile and started streaming/getting games casted, people were hyping him up even though he hadn't had any tournaments results. Sure a lot of people didn't know him, but he wasn't a random. I remember being skeptical until I saw the series against Sheth at MLG Providence where Illusion dismantled him on Shakuras.

Ofc its not an all around measurement to skill level, but its def an indicator esp for zerg players. Idra switched to zerg cause he thought it was best fitting to his strength needing really good mechanics. And Stephano and DRG imo the two best zergs in the world sitting at very high APM and EAPM isnt a coincidence. Ofc it helps if your able to click very fast and be fast with the keyboard.
Ofc decision making, mental power etc are also very important.

uhhhhhhhhhhh this is not meant to be offensive WHATSOEVER, in fact im part of this fanclub. i saw under the quotes the Scarlett got a sponsor from a korean team. Given that Scareltt has shown such tremendous ability, i would assume an offer like that would be most beneficial if she stayed in the teamhouse. But arent the teamhouses like a male dorm, 4 guys to a room at least. I'd assume she would want a bit of her own privacy at the very least. How would this work for her? Just really sorta curious, i know some of the other female progamers signed by korean teams live on their own correct?

Hope the hospital visit goes smoothly. Always good to know one's back in Canada, after a visit to the US, and there's once again no such thing as a medical bill, for any common purpose.
Might doing an IAMA on Reddit be an idea, when you have the time and once you've had a rest, Scarlett? It seems like folks over there have been mostly friendly, and there's perhaps as fair a following there for you as there is here. It'd keep the name "Scarlett" on the tongues of the larger Starcraft community, until you're next competition

There are some koreans who live close to teamhouse and just travel back and forth, if she gets a good enough sponsorship that might be an option

Elfi has been fairly successful despite ridiculously low APM. Most of the time the players he has beaten have twice the APM he does.

If sc2ranks is correct, it seems that Scarlett finished season 6 as No 1 GM on NA!
Edit: Her Blizzard profile shows 7th, which is still impressive!

Elfi is notoriously cheesy/gimmicky and is pretty bad at every matchup that isn't PvP. His APM is "low" because he doesn't spam early-game (which gives him 1-2 minutes of 10-15 APM) but if you watch him in the later stages he averages 160-200. He places well in European tournaments because Europe is strangely protoss-heavy at the higher levels and that's his best matchup. He's gotten ridiculously lucky in the tournaments he did well in, if you look at the brackets he's been blessed with mostly having PvP when it actually counts.
Sjow and Goody also have low APM relative to other pros, and look how far that's gotten them.
Again, APM isn't the end-all be-all, you can be good with low APM, but it certainly helps. I don't think anyone with less than 200 APM has won a legitimate SC2 tournament, ever.
edit: and when I say "legitimate tournament" I mean an offline tournament where 4-5 koreans have been flown in, not some online cup where the majority of the bracket is mid-low tier players and the only real competition is other top Europeans and Koreans playing with cross-server latency.

Thats actually completetly not true, BW even more than SC2 rewarded player experience over mass clicking, actually the best players besides Nada and Jaedong were slower or even much slower than the average. Savior and Stork have around 200-250 BW(real) apm (which is even lower than SC2 apm).
Sorry for nitpicking.
