Just like football teams don't play their best side in absolutely every game, so a player in a solo sport has to make these decisions sometimes. Sure, not practicing enough when the first place in the division is at stake is a questionable decision. However, now he's had a break before the next month, which will be as busy as possible - three or four major events for four weeks (MLG, DreamHack, HomeStoryCup and StarsWar if he defeats Xiaot later this week). When taking all tournaments into consideration, one single defeat in NASL is not that big of a deal - and he's tied on first place with Sen, Boxer and Socke anyway; it's not like he doesn't have a chance to qualify or anything. Even if Idra himself doesn't realise it, the short break was a good thing for him. Of course it's not like idrA has completely thrown NASL away or so. I just didn't like the excuse that was given in the thread (wether idrA has actually said it or not).

He hasn't. InControl was talking about this during the NASL cast, not himself
|
The main issue here is he is much better then what he displayed in games 2 and 3 against Sen. Instead of proving that hes the better player he just basicaly hands the games to Sen. There is no excuse for not being prepared, he knows ahead of time who hes facing and has adequate time to cram in some practice games no matter what he has planned. He doesnt have that killer instinct to get to the top, im afraid he will choke on another competant zerg down the line.

sen tbh has always been a beast so losing 1 series is nothing to be ashamed of really. we still have more games from idra ffs.
and i was wondering too, not getting an excuse for idra, maybe the metagame from taiwan (sen) is different from the west so maybe idra didnt prepare/expect well enough?

He was casting NASL, of course he didn't prepare enough.

It would be a lot of photoshop work, but it would be even more epic if it was change to $99 (like gg).

He has only played once in like two weeks- when he streamed for you guys. :3

If a mod is reading this, could you put a "PLEASE DON'T REVEAL THE WINNER OF IDRA VS XIAOT BEFORE THE ENGLISH CAST THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!" at the top of the thread? iCCup plan to cast the series next Monday, so there will be more than enough time for people to spoil the results this Tuesday actually, well done for changing the schedule it's still going to be casted on Monday, bleh.
Apart from that, I hope that Idra doesn't underestimate Xiaot too much. He may be yet to make a name as a top SC2 player internationally but he is a W3 legend and showed a lot of potential in SC:BW before that.

"It's generally safer to build things inside your base." -IdrA to some scrub on stream.

I completely understandstand the mindset behind the first game but the rest were dissapointing to say the least. I love idrA's play, but those games were really amateurish and didnt display even 20% of his full potential. I mean hes got a good bunch of zergs to practice with in EG, theres really no excuses .....
Why are people making such a big deal about Idra losing to Sen? He's barely played the past week so he's out of practice, its understandable that he would lose. Also, he said Sen understood ZvZ builds better than him because of his experience on the korean ladder recently (Idra hasn't played on it since he returned because of the lag).
Here's the thing though, even if Idra was in top form, losing to Sen should not be considered an upset. Sen is an absolutely amazing player, easily a top 5 Zerg outside Korea. His accomplishments really don't reflect how strong is; Sen is definitely up there with idra. To put it into perspective, Incontrol, who obviously practices a ton with idra, said during week 2 of NASL he felt Sen was slightly better than Idra.
Saying that loss yesterday was inexcusable is pretty silly, its like saying Real Madrid losing to Barcelona is silly. No, theyre both amazing

IdrA will have a super tough match against Xiaot coming up. He's definitely one of the best Chinese players out there. GL grack!

Idra's commentary on the GSTL round of 8 games with iNcontrol was awesome! It made the games watchable to not have to watch Doa and Moletrap bumble through those games.
|
+ Show Spoiler [Idra vs Xiaot] +So regarding Idra vs Xiaot, did he inadvertently spoil the match? He mentioned last night during GSTL with incontrol about traveling a lot and more specifically china, I believe the starswar tournament has a live LAN after the round of 8
|
Is IdrA and iNc talking about the GSTL saved in either of their stream vods? I am having trouble finding it and would like to check it out.

No. They don't play until the 18th. He mentioned during the GSTL that he still has to play xiaot in a couple days before going to china.

Idra's drone/ling micro against Ruff right now on stream... possibly one of the coolest things ever
|
I think Idra's getting too much random unprovoked BM and Trolls on his ladder games...I hope he can play KR ladder where there's less of that (due to the fact most people don't even speak english...), the NA grandmaster league is such a joke, with people stream sniping/cheating just so they can get famous through his stream and troll Idra.
