Idra is officially going to DreamHack Summer.

+ an old shopped photo I'd missed. :D

P.S. I was wondering whether to add this as it is not stand-alone content but there's so many good lines that it has to be in the OP: IdrA, iNcontroL and KellyMilkies' alternative GSTL S3 Day 1 commentary

I was really hoping to learn some good ZvZ in the idrA vs Sen series last night but the games were really depressing. I completely understandstand the mindset behind the first game but the rest were dissapointing to say the least. I love idrA's play, but those games were really amateurish and didnt display even 20% of his full potential. I mean hes got a good bunch of zergs to practice with in EG, theres really no excuses .....

So glad he's attending. Hopefully this time he doesn't match up against MC too early (assuming MC's invited..) If he does, beat him!!

Loved the idra and co commentary. Just placed GOM player over the black screen.

Except its true? Idra said it himself (before NASL match was shown) that he didn't practice at all for the week. believe it or not but a week of no playing, and then playing a player like sen, well your most likely going to lose lol.

This statement is based in fact.

The other statement however , that IdrA hasn't practiced in a week because of casting for EG masters cup and NASL however, is not based in fact.

That WAS standard ZvZ

It's a coin flip at best, and at worst it's a cheese fest.

If you go banes and they go roaches, and take no damage, you lose.

If you fast expand, you have to make defensive units while they can spam drones early, as roaches cannot be aggressive until speed.

All of what you say is true, but I think no-one would disagree that some games can still be won if you're behind, and that IdrA definitely does not like playing from behind, leading him to throw games earlier than most other people would.

That particular trait of him is part of his personality. So I do not know why you all want to concentrate on whether or not he had a fighting chance -- it does not matter because in IdrAs mind he didn't and that is all that counts to him.

Maybe some have forgotton about it during the idra casting and commenting time so I want to repeat it again: IDRA IS A PROGAMER!!!! He has dedicated his life to playing competitively. How can be casting a tournament a possible excuse for not training for THIS tournament? Imagine you're a progamer and are famous for being really good. Would you rather cast a tournament or win it?

I feel that idrA has lost a bit of focus by casting and streaming. In no way do I blame idrA for losing to Sen but the excuse is just not acceptable. I had a bad day. I hate this game. ZvZ is total random. Sen is a gosu asian guy. These are all acceptable answers but not having practiced because of casting is just like a soccer pro saying he hasn't practiced because he was busy watching champions league.

If idrA wants to become some destiny guy who plays mediocre and makes money with streaming and stuff (which is possibly more than you get from tournaments currently) I have no problem with that but I feel he then stays way below his standards.

It's absolutely not a shame to lose a ZvZ bo3 against Sen but the excuse is one of the worst I have ever heard. :-(

Another way to put it would be to say that Idra didn't play his best. Regardless of excuses, he just didn't. We as Idra fans know that he can play loads better than he did. Just look forward to his next NASL match.

Players like Nestea and Dimage show that ZvZ is not a coin flip and normally idrA is VERY GOOD at ZvZ too.

When you don't do any skill intensive activity for a while, quality drops. Not running for a week will make you slower if you need to run a race immediately after not running. Not being able to play starcraft because you live in a hotel with shtty internet and a laptop is probably a good excuse to not being at the top of your game -.-

That being said, IdrA did play cheesy and Sen played cleanly.
Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Normally? What the hell is wrong with people? He won the first game with a nicely executed aggression, lost the second game with a poorly done aggression and then overdroned based on a decision that turned out to be wrong in the 3rd game.

...In other words it was a best of 3 between two equally skilled players. This over analysis is ridiculous.

starsucks, chill. Idra doesn't play in just one league; he has a career. When you have a long season, you have to prioritise. Just like football teams don't play their best side in absolutely every game, so a player in a solo sport has to make these decisions sometimes. Sure, not practicing enough when the first place in the division is at stake is a questionable decision. However, now he's had a break before the next month, which will be as busy as possible - three or four major events for four weeks (MLG, DreamHack, HomeStoryCup and StarsWar if he defeats Xiaot later this week). When taking all tournaments into consideration, one single defeat in NASL is not that big of a deal - and he's tied on first place with Sen, Boxer and Socke anyway; it's not like he doesn't have a chance to qualify or anything. Even if Idra himself doesn't realise it, the short break was a good thing for him.

except when he was saying it, he wasn't even talking about NASL he was asked how it was to be back and he said its good to be back, haven't practiced for a week or something like that. -_-. While yes he does make excuses alot this wasn't even an excuse he just didn't play for a week due to not being at home and was casting lol.

Now don't over do what I said either. I don't know who's better sen/idra as both are monsters and would love to watch a bo5/7 of these 2 playing. Would be highly entertaining as both are strong players ^_^.
