I wanted you to change it because of the closed eyes though lol.

I mean, a lot of the time when he all-ins it's a reaction to something he sees his opponent do. + Show Spoiler + Like seeing your opponent CC first on Metalopolis close spawns. IdrA isn't stupid, he knows that if he allins with ling/bane he'll just win, plain and simple. Not really a new style tbh just common sense really.

His series against Socke is a good counter-example to this. He used aggressive play to win that series when in the past he just sits and macros. Yes I'm also sure he'd say it's only because Zerg is bad versus Protoss but maybe by accident he'll stumble on a winning formulae. Just look at Jaedong. His aggressive play is the backbone that allows him to out-macro his opponents. When he thinks his oppponent is weaker he doesn't sit back and give them the chance to all-in him he does two-hatch muta or some other aggressive timing.

Yes he used aggressive play in that series, but both games he won were using blind counters which were very all-in. I wasn't a part of the Brood War scene (unfortunately ![]() That said I've seen some interesting timings on IdrA's stream which contradict everything I just wrote: it seems like it might be possible to punish a Protoss who goes nexus->forge instead of forge->nexus by using aggression, and it looks like you'll at least be able to trade for some of the Toss army (sentry kills are amazing), delay the expo and also be safe from any nexus cancel bullshit (which means that you're not allin, since you delayed toss econ and killed some army which means you're safe to drone and possibly take a faster 3rd). And if the protoss goes forge->nexus then it's highly unlikely he'll be doing any nexus cancel business, which means that in the end we zergs don't have to worry about that ridiculous shit.

Once you reach only 24 drones on 2 bases (excluding gas) already you lose mining efficiency and once you reach 30ish it's almost pointless to have more drones. So really at this point you need to take a third but of course with no units it's very risky. So switching over to full roach production at this point isn't as bad as you would think. Even if you don't do significant damage you can get your third up faster than the protoss and use a larvae inject to saturate it instantly. I expect we'll see 2base plays as sort of the equivalent to the old 2hatch muta. It's not standard but it's not particularly bad either and it's a great way to beat a player who's worse than you.

Yeah, the only worry of mine is that it either delays lair a lot if you make roaches before lair, or it delays the upgrades (tunneling claws, burrow, etc) that you need when lair finishes if you build roaches during lair morph, or it forces you to take a lot of gas so that you can roach and upgrade, and then you don't have enough to take a third.
