All he said was that Blizzard is being retarded and IdrA and iNcontroL were defending them. They clearly said they weren't and that we should focus on the things we can fix but Destiny didn't want to hear it. Also who the hell cares if iNcontroL called out Destiny's unsubstantiated numbers. It would be an issue if Destiny substantiated his claims but he didn't. Anyways enough ranting about that. <3 you IdrA GL at Dallas! I agree. No offence to Destiny, but he has been pulling a lot of numbers seemingly out of nowhere. I didn't listen to the whole episode, but Idra and Incontrol came off as more rational and constructive in the parts I saw. It was actually pretty weird to see Idra being the most calm and collected person in a heated debate, but that's not a bad thing by any means. ![]()

I haven't heard the entire discussion on ITG but I'm unhappy that things apparently deteriorated. In his post about LoL's casualness being a part of its success, I thought Destiny brought up a fair amount of interesting points. I'm not following the debate closely however. In a nutshell though I think I can resume Destiny's thoughts. I did so in spoilers if you can't be bothered reading it. + Show Spoiler + LoL does have a huge fan and player base, it's much bigger than SC2. There is no doubt to that. There are certain reasons for that and the fact that the game has a strong casual side to it probably does contribute to its success. The same reasoning can be applied to football. Football has a fucking huge fan base but you can be certain that not even 0,00001% of those fans would be able to play professional football. Nor would they care to. They just enjoy watching it. Similarly, LoL has a few different kinds of casual game modes and it's possible to enjoy the game without over-thinking the shit that goes on. I'll listen to Voyboy's commentary and he'll bring up points I wouldn't fathom about. That doesn't stop me from having fun playing a snowball champ and raping face if I get a few lucky kills. Most LoL players don't give a fuck about playing the game for anything other than the lulz, yet they still enjoy watching it being played at a high level. I can also bring up a certain game I've played in the past, Age of Empires 3. The game actually had a pretty nice competitive scene to it. Nothing huge or anything but with a couple of nice money tournaments now and then, as well as a proper elorating. The competitive scene is pretty much dead today, but you still see people playing the other kinds of game types that don't require a lot of strategic thought or intense micro. Those being the silly no rush 40 games, the cat and mouse maps and the free for alls (those were actually really, really fun I remember having quite a good time with clan mates with those). Basically Blizzard completely botched SC2's casual side. You can't play unrated 1v1 and the custom games (the ones just for the lulz) are hard to find. The competitive aspect to WoL is fine but if your entire fan base is composed ONLY of male youngsters who are relentlessly playing the game to win instead of playing for fun, then that fan base is going to be smaller compared to a fan base made of those competitive players AS WELL AS a fuckton of people who are just looking to relax. Thing is that it's that fuckton of viewers who make the difference and then fuel the competitive scene. If Blizzard had brains they'd take a leaf out of Riot's book. Those are the main points Destiny brings up I think and I believe they're quite valid. Thing is that I find it a shame to see Idra, Incontrol and Destiny not being able to get along because all three of them have good ideas and contribute to the scene, it's hard to say otherwise.
