To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
No reposting of old material unless justified
Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.
I think there are still good stuff being released but what went to shite imo is the community. K-Pop became too mainstream(hipster mode activated..) maybe after Gangnam Style? Now everyone is cemented into their opinion and the group they stan they stan 100% so it's impossible to have any decent music discussion because obviously my group can never release a bad song.
The focus shifted from 'lets have fun' to 'we gotta become the next BTS so we can earn tons of cash', no fun group interactions on variety or anything anymore, no music collabs on weekly music shows etc. The 'no fun allowed' policy from companies are out in full effect now.
Now a days everything is about Youtube views.. "We need 5mil in 2 days!!!", "ok we hit that now we neeeeeeeeeeed 10 mil!".. But why? Cause you wanna brag about your group being the best.
I constantly read on reddit etc that people have no idea about certain groups and those groups can be semi popular but they just listen to their group over and over and have 0 interest in learning about new groups etc.
here we go here we go here we go here we go here we go here we go here we go here we go here we go here we go
I.O.I Will comeback under 'Studio Blu' (Heize label apparently)
Hi, this is STUDIO BLU
We are pleased to announce the reunion of IOI, which finished its official activities in January 2017.
Hi? It is IOI (I.O.I).
At the last concert we promised "Let's meet again". As long as fans are aspiring, we have been working hard at each other, always dreaming of reunion.
And in October 2019, Kim Se-jeong, Choi Yoo-jung, Chung Ha, Kim Soh-ye, Sung Kyulkyung, Chung Chae Yeon, Kim Do Yeon, Kang Mina and Im Nayoung decided to stand in front of you again in the Name of IOI.
Somi and Yeonjung could not join for promotions, but will still be showing their support.
We will now begin to communicate the preparation process and activity schedule for IOI in the following time. We are so glad and appreciated to hear from you again
I legit actually hate that Heejoon Moon guy. He was on multiple talkshows saying retarded things about how his family shouldnt be in the press etc and then he goes on that show for more fame. Fuck that guy. He just reeks of no shame. Even his hard core fanbase has turned on him.Ugh. Praying on a young nugu idol too and then shotgun wedding. Shit she deserves so much better.

Until recently I had been an apostate for the last 4 years, so I can't ascertain whether modern-day K-pop is really devoid of creativity. Every generation faces accusations de novo that it's uninspired, trite, bland aesthetically and musically. When I left around 2015, I felt it was succumbing to the same problems that are currently plaguing American pop:
Overly slavish to recent trends. The innovation and variety in the second generation was equally parts desperation and naivete. None of the management companies knew the formula for lasting success in Korea and abroad, so there was a ton of experimentation within both groups and their output. Not all the songs were bangers but the inspirations were often esoteric and bizarre; it's hard to imagine Red Velvet releasing two songs as radically different as Roly Poly and Cry Cry within the same year. Now it feels like the same set of influences: trap, various flavors of EDM, weak-ass "rap", etc.
Obnoxious community. Online supporters went from relative indifference to other groups mixed with curiosity to relentless stanning reinforced by people with serious attachment issues.
Everything's too slick and well-produced. Said companies have really perfected all the technical aspects like presentation, sound mixing, editing, and performer appearance. It's so pristine it creates an uncanny valley effect. The video rarely feels heartfelt in terms of lyrics, music style, or imagery. I often get the unsettling feeling I'm watching a parody of a music genre instead of an example of it, or some Braudrillardian nightmare where every facet is a reference to some other pop phenomenon.
