To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
  • Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
  • When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
  • No reposting of old material unless justified
  • Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
  • No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
  • Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
  • No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
  • No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
  • Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

'Although the Fantastic Baby video was shit too'... I remember watching that video 30+ times in January/Feb

How did you do that when it came out in march?

no, it's more like a fanboy of the genre is convinced it's taking over the world by storm and people are telling him the genre hasn't changed much since 2000. It's like that one time BoA decided to make a debut in the US and people were saying she'd blow up there and how kpop was the wave taking over.
It's not.
and it will never be.

Pretty funny that you think that I think Kpop is taking the world by storm. All I say is its better than it ever has been, and more people are enjoying it than ever before. Why does everyone assume I think kpop will reach #1 on the US charts anytime soon... I mean, apart from Gangnam style lol. Try to make that distinction

Saying BoA will blow up is a prediction. Seeing the staggering amount of views Kpop videos are getting are facts. There is a difference dude

'Releases were garbage'. Don't know what to say to this really, apart from I have enjoyed pretty much every video I have seen this year. Every video is an absolute treat and pleasure, and this year has been fantastic.

Suboptimal? No offence intended here, but what the fuck are you on about? Kpop videos are just miles ahead of anything produced in any country anywhere in the world. The first big video released this year in Fantastic Baby set the tone for the whole year, and there have been many videos at that quality or above. In regards to Western videos, I can't think of one that can come close to Fantastic Baby, or many other videos produced by this market.

I'm pretty sure you've been spoilt by all of the wonderful personalities/videos of Kpop and can't really see through that little fog, but Kpop is still miles ahead in terms of production quality and entertainment. There is nothing else like it in the world. Countries watch in awe as they see dance moves executed to perfection, amazing sets and production quality out of this world.

In this day and age, I'm confident that Kpop is the greatest mainstream entertainment being produced

B. a lot of those views are from scripts run by the companies, and views != enjoyment. A lot of people have seen Baby Baby on yt but that doesn't mean they favor the music Bieber makes.

Guys why are you arguing about something so simple? It's clear that Kpop is better and bigger than ever. Production down the drain? Never before have I seen so well done MV's etc. T-ara drama versions? Super good production. I think some here are just experience some nostalgia.
Kpop isn't taking the world by storm or anything like that, that however doesn't mean its bigger than ever.

Anyway..........

The MelOn music awards seems to be live. There are a bunch of streams on the LOEN Music channel on youtube. Here is the stream: http://www.youtube.com/user/LOENENT/featured.

Seems it's red carpet right now. Enjoy <3

Sweet, maybe we can LR it and get away from this garbage discussion. What's the reputation of the Melon awards? No sketchy business like the MAMAs?

MAMAs are more notorious for it but none are really that reputable.

Plus they're entertainment awards. Like, look at how people trash American awards, you can't expect the Korean equivalents to be that much better.

Oh man these english subs, pretty much the lowest possible amount of effort put on them.

Anyway, best rookie, that's an easy one.

Edit: I have no idea why there are two artists accepting the award right now.

It's okay. Everyone mistakes him on the first glance. Unless you're attracted to Alice, and thus Ren...

T-ara was.. Disappointing. Least Hyomin looked pretty damn hot still. Jiyeon was looking good, too. But did they just get black ocean-ed?

Edit: I think it's just that dark. Definitely less cheering for them, and they looked bored performing.
