To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules;
  • Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
  • When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
  • No reposting of old material unless justified
  • Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
  • No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
  • Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
  • No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
  • No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
  • Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)

Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up.

Been listening to this on repeat.

Here's a bad translation attempt I made at the lyrics:

+ Show Spoiler +
Many memories covered in dust with time gone by
Poison that has accumulated in my body as time passes
Nowadays with the want for freedom much stronger than before,
I'm precisely about half-dead
It's not something I can see, but I believed it
There was a time when I felt it driving me for sure
I remember that beginning, empty out all that's making me rot
I need to take hold of that which I've been losing

The long journey to now
Back in time when I used to say conviction was all that I had With tightly clenched fists,
I laughed at those who had become afraid and old
In turn they stirred me with fear
That later I would also change like them, inevitably
So keep your eyes straight says reality
Though he wants to fly, he says he's more comfortable where he's seated
I lie to you and myself just like that every time

My spirit that's been eaten away because of that cigarette-like consolation
What's hidden behind the words that you gotta be an adult is just an illusion you're in no way becoming wiser
It's just being satisfied with the status quo, just like a dog on a leash
Because those are the only things I've been learning
Because my courage is equally matched with my fear of the eyes of others
I told them to fuck off because I was tired of those faces
Where my faith leads me, that is where my home is and that is where I become complete
If such a thing called chance comes, it comes to me rather than you,
who is a hallow shell because you had your dreams put aside
You can laugh as much as you want
You can hide away your failure as you talk to me with your seemingly concerned voice
You can stay put, with your unwillingness to be hurt
And you say that this is common sense
Even though this is a world where cowardice is a cure
To those who have been scarred in your stead I give my respect, to those that have won my blessing

There was a time when I fell into a deep hole
Pretending I was living without a worry to my family and friends
My self-hatred and arrogance mixing together
I even hated the snow that stared at me in winter
A depletion of passion
Things that I've hated more than any others
When they become my work, only the feeling of dying remains
Nothing else can be felt strongly
I've seen my distorted image, but I cannot kill myself
In those times when I wouldn't have felt at loss
to have thrown away everything I possessed to some faraway place,
I searched for things I could do that would comfort me like a madman
Peace was a thing irrelevant to me and
I raised my voice to hide my anxiety and angrily blathered on about dignity
and I wandered around making myself dizzy
Those times when I didn't even know who was beside me
Even back then I didn't believe in God, but I could not bring myself to believe that I was so broken,
so for a long while I was lost
This tenacious flu that's seeped into my consciousness,
Mornings that were never refreshing no matter how many hours I slept
Youth that has been crushed by nervousness and pressure
Bubbles, traps, temptations that would come in place of opportunity
In the face of all those things, back from the beginning
I need to hold of that which I've been losing

As I quickly chase, more and more I lose sense of what I am
Stop now if you need
We've already lost too many things that are important

edit: Does anyone know some other good Korean rap? I've already heard stuff from Drunken Tiger and some others, but I wasn't too into them.

Influential and recognized in the world? looooool Gangnam Style went viral cause of the video. Newsflash: The world still doesn't care about Kpop.

A wise man has said that this is the golden age of kpop. It has never been more popular around the world. It is so irrelevant that you mention the world still doesn't care about kpop. That doesn't take away from the fact that more people are listening to kpop now than ever before, and it is more recognized than ever before

I just came back from New Zealand, and there is a channel called U-live which is a music show that goes for 4 hours, and they have a segment that is called Kpop at 6 o'clock, where they play a Kpop video (they played Crayon) and people from twitter/facebook were commenting on how awesome it was. I could never imagine a music program that plays modern rock/pop to feature music videos in another language before this year

One radio station a global trend does not make. Golden age of kpop when most of the releases are suboptimal? There's been a handful of new talent shown recently that will have any staying power, and the older groups are pushing out less than stellar material. If this is the golden age then we're fucked. Thanks for that first statement master Yoda. That was just an example, but use it as you wish.

Suboptimal? No offence intended here, but what the fuck are you on about? Kpop videos are just miles ahead of anything produced in any country anywhere in the world. The first big video released this year in Fantastic Baby set the tone for the whole year, and there have been many videos at that quality or above. In regards to Western videos, I can't think of one that can come close to Fantastic Baby, or many other videos produced by this market.

I'm pretty sure you've been spoilt by all of the wonderful personalities/videos of Kpop and can't really see through that little fog, but Kpop is still miles ahead in terms of production quality and entertainment. There is nothing else like it in the world. Countries watch in awe as they see dance moves executed to perfection, amazing sets and production quality out of this world.

In this day and age, I'm confident that Kpop is the greatest mainstream entertainment being produced

Was going to say how was Dynamic Duo and Leessang left out of this until I googled the Korean text.. Some other goodies:
45rpm, Crispi Crunch, Electroboyz, Freestyle, Mighty Mouth, San E, and Untouchable for hip-pop/mainstream-ish that have some resemblance to Primary.

And the following recommendations are a little more close to Tiger JK:
Beenzino, dok2, MC Hansai, Ignito, The Quiett.

At this point there is no reason to respond. Go calm yourself down and come back later. You're still new to kpop, please don't act like you know anything about production, which everyone agrees unanimously has gone down the drain. You either see the light or you don't, it's not my job to cure blindness.

Production has not gone down the drain. It is fucking astounding how much effort they put into their videos. As I said, no one comes close to what the Kpop world produces in their videos. They are so unique and different, and having a Kpop song as the most viewed video of all time sort of solidifies the fact that people are captivated by the Korean take on the music industry.

When was I ever talking about videos? I'm talking music you simpleton. Although the Fantastic Baby video was shit too.

'Although the Fantastic Baby video was shit too'... I remember watching that video 30+ times in January/Feb. Strange how differently we view the world. I'm not talking music you simpleton. I'm talking about the whole fucking package. The personality of the stars, the dance, the production, the videos, the talk shows; the whole entity that is Kpop. But hey, You either see the light or you don't, it's not my job to cure blindness

no, it's more like a fanboy of the genre is convinced it's taking over the world by storm and people are telling him the genre hasn't changed much since 2000. It's like that one time BoA decided to make a debut in the US and people were saying she'd blow up there and how kpop was the wave taking over.
It's not.
and it will never be.

what.
this year's releases were garbage.

No, not really.

yes, really.
this year's releases sucked. half the shit I considered decent/good weren't even strictly kpop.

Pretty funny that you think that I think Kpop is taking the world by storm. All I say is its better than it ever has been, and more people are enjoying it than ever before. Why does everyone assume I think kpop will reach #1 on the US charts anytime soon... I mean, apart from Gangnam style lol. Try to make that distinction

Saying BoA will blow up is a prediction. Seeing the staggering amount of views Kpop videos are getting are facts. There is a difference dude

'Releases were garbage'. Don't know what to say to this really, apart from I have enjoyed pretty much every video I have seen this year. Every video is an absolute treat and pleasure, and this year has been fantastic.
