I agree that we will never know their real personalities, and I honestly don't mind that much. But considering so much of their life takes places with camera's around them and every single thing an idol does where others are around gets spread. I think their personalities are at least somewhat similar to the ones we get to see. I mean I doubt anyone can hide their true self and put on a show for years almost every single day.
Sure they show some of their real personalities but i'm pretty sure alot of them are just as bitchy and annoying as most amerian/european celebrities in their daily life. Everything is heavily edited.
I'm no Korean, nor did I study Korean culture but I've heard that Koreans aren't as "diva-ish" as American/European celebs. Mainly because they are a lot more thankful to their fans and that their career is thanks to the people supporting them and not just themselves. Which for me does makes sense considering they also go through such long and demanding training. And they appear to be more down to earth overall than any other celeb I've ever seen on tv here honestly.
Maybe i went to far. They are probably not as annoying as euro/us celebs but i'm pretty sure alot of them are full of it. The thankful down to earth attitude is something that everyone expects of them but there's surely more drama and shit going down backstage than anyone knows about.
Also the korean prude views on relationships and manner combined with the heavily scripted and arranged shows surely push everyone into the same mold.
You don't even know what you're talking about and you really sound stupid ^_^
Ok then. They are all cute happy-go-lucky dream girls like most people here seem to think. ^_^

Either I am missing something, or your sarcasm meter is broken.
holy shit that test makes me feel racist :/ I'm by no means a kpop expert but out of all those ladies only 3 were familiar, and at some point the rest started looking awfully alike :/
Idols are human beings. How do you expect most or all human beings to act. If you think most of them are bitchy, most of them will seem bitchy to you. If you think most of them are good people deep inside, then everyone will seem like a good person to you. ^_^
Not going to lie, listening to some of the K-pop, it seems ok. However it seems like they are trying to immitate MTV which imo is not a good thing to immitate ^^.
On a very different note, this is some Korean music - though somewhat alternative :p
as for the whole Idols, Companies can manage, shape and form their everyday live including behaviour and appearant personality, are they the same completly as on TV?Doubt it, but sometimes i'd like to think so.
Considering the fact that almost all idols are picked up and trained from a young age, from which I can only assume there is constant teaching and reinforcement about how to behave, I would think that their observed behavior is quite similar to their actual personality. I say similar because once they go off stage, the way they speak changes instantly, and that in itself changes your view on their persona. But as to more drastic things as to being bitchy, if you're in a group, keep in mind living with many other people for a long period of time requires significant tolerance. I would suspect that occasionally they would sometimes get pissed off (as regular people do), but I doubt at this point anyone is bitchy and faggoty as a person, as surely this might be perceived by accident somewhere, somehow, at some time, and that kind of perception by fans is just a no-go zone.
Think back to when you were 12 or so. You might notice that how you behave now is pretty different to how you behaved then, based on what you were told, or just some stuff you looked up (how to handshake properly for instance). Now imagine being told what to do for like... 8 years straight. Surely in that time, you'll have already changed to do exactly that.
This is just my speculation of course ^_^, I too would like to believe yoona is a gentle pretty lady and IU is a sweet super innocent girl
Claiming their personalities are as we perceive them is stupid, but so is claiming they are not. Unless you actually get to spend significant time with someone, you won't ever be able to tell. I for one like to believe they are real to some extent but I wouldn't ever say it is a fact. Of course training does have an influence, but if companies would decide everything, there would be a lot of similar people. And it wouldn't be possible to be convincing if your actual personality is not similar to the one you are showing to the public.
Most likely it's somewhere in between. There are some assholes (bound to be with so many people involved in entertainment) and some people who don't fake it much if at all but I highly doubt that most idols are as innocent as they pretend to be- no cursing at all, no references to sex ever, no drinking, smoking (some candids of male idols actually disprove this), etc. Basically more like real people instead of super innocent and "good". But not terrible either.
Soshi drinks though, they've said themselves. Seohyun doesn't agree with drinking, but she thinks its essential to socialize, especially at parties. Tiffany and Sunny (?) have the highest alcohol tolerance.
Some idols will be completely opposite of the way they are in broadcasts, while others are probably pretty genuine. As you watch more and more of their shows and performances you catch glimpses of true personalities coming out.
