If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

For currently airing anime, please see Anichart.net

For Kona, there is no genre, the division lies between animes where Kugimiya is a part of the cast, and animes where she is not a part of the cast.

I hate to ask this but should I watch Haruhi S1 in chronological order or the other way?

I watched it chronological. In chronological you get the true ending episode on like the 5th ep. I was like, "wtf this ep feels like something you'd end with." lol
However you should definitely watch it in broadcasting order as I am assuming it will be much, much better and generally make more sense.

I watched both orders, Watching it as TV aired made it way more interesting as Chronological which i found rather boring indeed..

I would recommend watching it as aired on TV also, So not Chronological. It might be a little confusing but its definitely the way to go.

Broadcasting order works much better than chronological because of how the novels work and how the anime is derived from it. The novels are either a single long story or multiple short, unrelated stories. In making Haruhi, they used a whole long story and a bunch of short stories (and an original episode), so by watching it chrnologically, you'd see a long plot then a whole lot of random stuff in single or double episodes. That's why they decided to air it like that, as a way to keep the viewers from getting bored, which imo worked out very well. S2 looks like it escaped that trapping by [hopefully] sandwiching the random stuff, mostly, between two major plots.

That really reads "I'll be so fucking pissed if they didn't include Snow Mountain Syndrome.

DONT WATCH IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER.

Or the DVD order.

Watch in the original broadcast order. The flow will feel more natural, the show will be more entertaining, and you won't be all wtf.

So far I have really enjoyed it, has anyone else been reading this? I'm just hoping its going to extend past the 14days or so that is implied by the name.

speaking of which, I just finished the GTO anime, and wow it was way better than I thought it'd be. Almost as good as Golden Boy. I must have missed a lot of classics from the 80's and 90's.

I started watching Kannagi...the animation for this show is fucking amazing, and I love the overall production style. It's on par with KyoAni as far as I'm concerned. Are any of the other shows A-1 has done notable?

I'm sorry but... KyoAni creates subpar anime and you should feel bad for praising Kannagi...

If you don't like the anime they produce, and you didn't like Kannagi, then that's your taste.

However, there is no other studio that consistently matches the quality of Kyoto's production for weekly shows. Sorry...that's all there is to it.

Watch Haruhi in Broadcast. The plot itself may feel out of wack, but I think it contributes to the overall awesomeness of Haruhi.

Not sure if this belongs in the anime thread, but has anyone played any Touhou and beaten it? Have any tips?

Quality is also a question of definition, isn't it? But you're right, I don't really enjoy stereotypical moe shows with that lame humor... especially not K-On!. Air is the only good show they've produced in my opinion and even that one is filled with forced drama.

Hmm, even if you don't like the subject, does that give you a right to call it subpar? So much of what these people do are controlled by others, especially in the case of Kyoto Animation, which seldom handle anything but highly acclaimed original works. If you can point to things that's actually an issue controlled by the studio (for example, people might point to the current situation with Haruhi s2 and say that KyoAni blows), then you'd have more of a point. But to say that it is a question of definition and back it up by personal preference is rather weak.

As I now try to think desperately of animation studios that I hate, a task turning out to be harder than I thought since I rarely think in terms of studio :p

Mystlord, which one? I personally have difficulty getting through on normal, but I love the series, or rather I love how much doujin is churned out for it, of unusual high quality too. That said, best way is probably to watch people's replays on youtube/download replays and just practice a freaking ton. Looking up specific strategies help too, e.g. bombing timing and runs in th10, infinitely easier than doing it the hard way and so much higher score. We had a touhou thread in the games forum btw.

Well, since you could say that everything is a question of opinion, there's real no point in arguing over these things. It's just that I thought it was sad of him hinting that KyoAni is a high quality animation studio...

An animation studio that is popular to hate is Bee-Train. I personally like a lot of anime they've made, but other people seem to dislike them for some reason.

Any of them. Frankly, Subterranean Animism is absolutely devilish to get through, and Perfect Cherry Blossom is a breeze. But otherwise :/ Thanks for the advice. And yeah, Touhou Doujin is awesome :D. The games are the best though. Character designs are really damn good. And the fact that ZUN can do such good designs every 2 years or so is incredible.

Shauni: Only three good animes that Bee Train have put out. The original .hack//sign, Phantom, and Madlax. They do some good stuff every 3 years or so haha.
