Started reading Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai. It's not particularly good or bad, but the premise is kinda interesting (we don't have any friends so let's make a club whose purpose is to make friends).
Has anyone seen Wings of Honneamise? I'm thinking about watching it sometime. That shit got translations? People have too much time on their hands. In terms of LNs with that style I'd much rather read Seitokai no Ichizon over just about everything else. It's in the teasers section of Baka Tsuki, so I assume only one person worked on it. Anyways, the total translated material comes out to around one volume. Incidentally, that's already more progress than Setokai's seen in two years. See, I'd read Setokai, but I can't. =/ So Wings is good? Gotta find myself a torrent I guess. You are making me feel guilty about not contributing more stuff to Bakatsuki's Seitokai project. It turned full project recently though iirc, aren't the people working on Toradora doing it now.
The Seitokai no Ichizon LNs are being translated? Awesome.
Also, Wings of Honneamise sounds pretty interesting. I may have to watch that one of these days.

I'm going to Tokyo in less then 2 weeks from now. I'm hoping to get some nice figures (queens blade maybe) beyblades and some YGO cards.
Let's just hope that I do have some money back with me. xD
I'm right now watching 'Beyblade metal explosion' on a regular basis.

One of the reasons why my college selections are in the East is because I want to go to Japan. Study abroad programs in the East are a lot better than those here (especially since my school choices are mostly UCs, which don't have those opportunities available).
*sigh*
In terms of Anime though.....I'm pretty sure it's happened, but just verifying...do you guys start picking up on words and sentences? Because it feels like I'm a baby and I'm slowly learning the language after people keep saying the same things over to me over and over again.

Anime combined with a semester of Japanese class has let me pick up a little bit. Like I can hear some words and phrases and know what they mean, and understand general sentence structure a bit. No where near conversation level, but I can pick up phrases here and there. Reading is a whole different story though, since kanji is terrifying, and I've forgotten most hiragana and katakana.

Yeah, yeah, yeah! Kind of weird to say, but every once in a while I would inadvertently say "geez" or "oh man" in Japanese. Of course that's under my breath and I don't let other people hear.
Though I was hoping to take lessons in Japanese when I get to college too. ^^ It'd be great if I could watch my Anime without subs. >=D
Also, has anyone watched xxxholic? I watched the 1st episode and it was cool. I have the rest somewhere on my computer, but just wondering if anyone else had a reaction to it.

I've picked up on plenty of words and phrases, but I don't know shit about grammar. Usually all I could do is use them in my English sentences, much like Japanese people use English words in their sentences.
But after I become a fluent German speaker, I plan to learn Japanese.

when you need a practise partner or have some questions about german language just ask
I think most here will have picked up words from animes but I would never use them because I dont know anything about grammar and the different styles of speech and levels of politeness. Imagine trying to talk to some japanese guy because you are there on vacation and then you talk like some anime girl character.

Thanks :D
I know though that some words are used more by females than males and vice versa. Like I know that males would usually say "Ore" when referring to themselves. And girls would use "Watashi?"

Sentence structure is simple in Japanese, since I think it goes something like [subject] [direct object] [verb]. But they have tons of shit called "particles" that exist solely to make the language harder (lol).

Yeah, in Kanon, Ayu would refer to herself as boku and not watashi or atashi and Yuuichi tried to change that but she couldn't or something
I wish I knew Japanese too, but Korean is good :> BW commentators are the best~
I do say 'hai' quite often accidently
A question, so in Korean, younger girls call older guys oppa and older girls unni and younger boys would call older girls nuna and older guys hyung
Does Japanese have terms like those?

-kun/-chan honorifics are normally for younger/young people (boy/girl, respectively). -senpai is used for people who are your senior in something.

School Rumble and Ouran were sortof okay as well (School Rumble was funny, Ouran being so because it was rather ridiculous). It looks like you enjoy action so i would like to recommend Ergo proxy and welcome to the NHK. They both are "darker" (not sure if that is the right word) and they have a bit of action IIRC. Madoka has action and is darker than i initially thought it was and its probably the best one this season. In terms of comedy, Minami-ke or Mitsudomoe are probably one of the better recent comedies.
I sorta want to learn Japanese but i just feel really wierd whew i do try to talk Japanese. Like i feel like i have a very noticeable accent. Like when i talk Cantonese or English i feel normal even though English is my 2nd language (and i feel like i have a small accent but i can still pronounce a lot of the words. Idk

First half of Phantom. Noir/Madlax. Darker than Black (first season, second one doesn't exist).

So I finally watched Summer Wars, and I was very annoyed at how similar the plot was with Digimon the Movie. BUT everything else was so well done I put that to the side, although it really did annoy me seeing the whole EVERYONE ACROSS THE WORLD COMBINE YOUR POWERS TO BEAT THE NET PERSON, again despite what a good message/theme it is, it was overused and extremely obviously cut/pasted. That aside, I still love that director.

LoGH 75-76 + Show Spoiler +Very interesting accident. I always love when these stuff happen, it makes the show more realistic I'm happy Reuental didn't get punished or anything. He's a great guy. I also think we need more Oberstein stuff. He's one of the 3 great admirals (5 if we count Ironshield Muller and Reinhard), so he needs to show off his fleet a bit! Just for the show! Like Bittenfield lol. Can't wait for Reinhard vs Yang round 2! I'm cheering for Reinhard, as usual... Go go go Reinhard!

"Watakushi" is also gender neutral. It is just a more polite form of "watashi" so you usually see the typical rich girl in anime use it. "Boku" can be used by older males too (and by girls if they want to sound boyish).
Sentence structure does not follow a strict rule. It goes [stuff]+[verb]. And then when you speak casually you can break that rule too. That's why there's particles. To differentiate between the subjects, direct objects, etc.

I stumbled over this link while looking for background on the recent domain seizings by the US government. Might be interesting: http://torrentfreak.com/internet-piracy-boosts-anime-sales-study-concludes-110203/
A prestigious economics think-tank of the Japanese Government has published a study which concludes that online piracy of anime shows actually increases sales of DVDs. The conclusion stands in sharp contrast with the entertainment industry’s claims that ‘illicit’ downloading is leading to billions of dollars in losses worldwide. It also puts the increased anti-piracy efforts of the anime industry in doubt.
[...]
“Estimated equations of 105 anime episodes show that (1) YouTube viewing does not negatively affect DVD rentals, and it appears to help raise DVD sales; and (2) although Winny file sharing negatively affects DVD rentals, it does not affect DVD sales,” the researchers conclude.
“YouTube’s effect of boosting DVD sales can be seen after the TV’s broadcasting of the series has concluded, which suggests that not just a few people learned about the program via a YouTube viewing. In other words YouTube can be interpreted as a promotion tool for DVD sales,” it adds.
