This is going to be a very interesting experience. Garzey's Wing, Wings of Rean, Daitarn 3 were fully scripted by Tomino. He was a chief director (same as with 0079, Zeta and ZZ) additionally at Dunbine, Ideon, Zambot 3, Xabungle, King Gainer and Turn A. Why are you trying to give me a history lesson here? I obviously know who Tomino is by my previous post, I don't need you listing various other anime he directed.
I have no idea wtf Garzey's Wing is, but Wings of Rean was scripted by Tomino and another guy, while Daitarn 3 was scripted by a full 9 different people. G Reko is going to be at least 2 cour, and allegedly will be fully scriped by Tomino.
Edit: Now that I'm looking at the Japanese Wiki, it doesn't look like Tomino was credited with the script of even a single episode of Daitarn 3.

Dropped 4/10 + Show Spoiler +My post here isn't going to try and convincing you to watch it lol but I figured I might as well respond to what you wrote seeing as you put in a great deal of effort Nothing wrong with having MC get his mech in 3 episodes compared to the typical 1. I'd prefer they set the stage and showed the struggle like they did than MC finds some mech early on and start kicking ass right away. Music seems ok to me, nothing special but not necessarily a bad thing. Bland action? Well, idea is that the Martian's mechs are beastly and Earth was overconfident when they said they were 'prepared'. They are building up hype by showing us that all of the Martian mechs are badass and OP as hell. Didn't notice anything specific about backgrounds, never played halo and never watched fate/zero s2. Yes, the whole evacuation part does seem a bit odd when you think about it considering there are 39 castles however it's all over the world and they hit major cities so having people evacuate from the major area further away from a castle (39 is not enough for the whole earth when you consider # of countries and size) is the best idea to do in that situation. The castles have a limited area as we have seen so I'm pretty sure that unless they relocate, once they have landed, everyone in that area dies but outside of it, you can still escape if the mech from the castle doesn't track you down. Villians seem typical to me. Only care about themselves etc... I think you're being very nit picky about this lol. I mean, you're complaining why the mech doesn't have a rifle. Maybe it's made for hand to hand combat. The AT field repels any shots allowing it to close in to deliver the final blow. Maybe it's due to my lack of mech anime but I think just because something is mech doesn't mean it should automatically get a rifle. btw, if this no rifle thing is annoyng, I don't recommend you watch Argenvollen because most of the fights so far have had the main MC mech fight hand to hand combat lol. Well, protag only has basic weapons at his disposal and protecting civilians is their main duty. He can't just run away. Maybe there is a way around that AT field, I dunno but at that point in time, it was determined that there best chance is to just fight and try to protect as much as possible. Lasers? you mean from that mech? what's wrong with a mech having a laser? lol. As for plot twist, she's never been on earth so it's quite possible that she couldn't adjust to the atmosphere so her falling sick and having a double take her place doesn't seem out there to me. Compared to the first episode which I felt was a bit lacking, I think this second episode has made the anime seem much better in my eyes. We've seen the struggle and what Earth is up against which begs more questions of how they will defeat them etc... At this point, I'm more excited to watch this than Argevollen lol.
I agree with most of the points written by BigFan. Aldnoah is one of the shows that caught my attention. There are obviously flaws, but I think visually and storywise, its interesting. I think it can turn out to be a great show.
My main concern is the OP mech vs OP mech... (the only thing I dislike from Mecha genre) Come on, give the soldiers something to fight with :S I get it that the Martians are stronger than Earth, but...
Even in modern warfare, where developped nations have superior armies (I think USA invasion of Irak was done in a matter of days/weeks without any casualties), they are not immune to casualties (as seen in the guerilla warfare/hide and seek war).

Come on, the Martian mech they are fighting obviously is using some sort of gimmick for its armor that Deadpan-kun is going to figure out. Hes going to be going against it with a bunch of trainer mechs.

Here's most of what I'm watching, hope it helps: + Show Spoiler +Mech: Aldnoah.Zero and Argevollen. Both are focused in a war setting. MCs are totally different in both with Aldnoah character being calm, collected and doesn't show emotions while Argevollen MC is a loudmouth lol. Aldnoah's second episode was much better than the first, would recommend to watch that far to determine if you want to watch it. Argevollen isn't too bad though I think the anime feels lacking somehow. I'm sure it'll get better lol. SoL: Barakamon and Glasslip. Funny little anime, about calligrapher trying to improve himself and going to an island. Lots of funny moments with great character and good break from some of the more serious (or bloody anime lol). No specific sequence for the story as far as I can tell. Quite laid back which is nice to watch. Definitely try it. I wasn't sure at first but I've been enjoying it and will keep on doing so. It also has some life lessons lol. Glasslip, group of friends met a strange. Friction, drama and life will change forever (imo). Great pictures and music, same with effects. It's not your typical SoL but can't say why yet. Will be revealed in the anime. Bloody (yes, I made bloody a genre lol): Akame ga Kill and Tokyo Ghoul. Both are pretty bloody. First one is about a group of assassins that is trying to clear the capital of corruption. If you don't mind some bloody scenes, it's got some great action. Loved the fight in the second episode. Worth a try imo. Tokyo Ghoul, well, ghouls and humans don't mix. Can't say much but there will be a struggle. Which side will win will eventually emerge. Could be worth a try if it's your thing. Romance: Ao Haru Ride. Old friends, see each other again. Will they resume from where they left of or not? I've only seen one episode so far. Reminds me of One Week Friends for some reason. Action: Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun and Rail Wars. Gekkan is supposedly not a romcom at all, just some comedy anime. Can't say much without revealing things. All you need to know is that the MC loves some guy in class and he mistakes her confession as her admitting she's his fan. The bigger picture is colored in once she visits his place :O Rail Wars, starting to show promise though it's basically train info dumps with some action for the main characters through protecting passengers (work security). Training and working in dangerous situations. There's also a bit of love in the air Some characters (mostly the girls) remind me of Baka to Test :S Supernatural: Tokyo ESP. Best word to describe it is X-men. If you liked watching them, you may enjoy it. Keep in mind that I read they supposedly showed bits of the manga's end in the first episode so ya, I dunno if I agree with that lol otherwise, it'll start 'normally' in the second episode and build the story up. I loved Xmen so I'll likely keep this unless it's way too slow for my liking. Not much words needed: Sailor Moon and SAO II. Classic Sailor Moon, biweekly release, Usagi's voice sounds a bit high for my ears lol. SAO II's second episode was really good, lots of action. First was ok. If you hated SAO for Kirito, then I don't recommend you watch this lol. Have yet to watch but could be potentially funny: Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!?

On July 14 2014 18:30 ForTehDarkseid wrote:@BigFan. Thanks for your response, as usual you rock. Aldnoah.Zero ep.2: + Show Spoiler +I have nothing against close combat mechs in general, but not when it's whole concepit is just a lame excuse to show silly overburdened chasing scene, especially in wannabe serious sci-fi setting. Lasers coming are out of nowhere wiping entire squadrons in one sweep with minimal effort put towards visual effects and scene directing are just a fraudulent creator's move in my eyes. Those scenes should be remarkable and wear some kind of effect on a viewer, who is supposed to be entertained by alien's invasion, not bored to death.
Villians aren't simply 'meh', they are hollow as outerspace vacuum (pun intended). Not interesting to watch, not menacing to dislike, not funny to laugh of. We learned that the assasination was planned by Martians themselves, right? It means they conveniently didn't know about that cheeky double existing at all or maybe this was their plan to begin with. Either way, all compassion I could've had for that princess character blowed out of the window and never returned 'cause she wasn't even in a danger of dying to begin with! Cheap and underselling explanations crippling already uneven storytelling and world building is the name of story for this show, and, coming out from Saya no Uta and Kikokugai writer, it's a double disappointment.
I'll check out the second season when it comes out, but honestly any viable way to save that trainwreck record right from start is yet to be seen. Show went for Code Geass path, but failed in every damn single point that made those famous series catchy, providing unusual experience to follow and appealing to non-mecha fans.
+ Show Spoiler +I still don't agree lol. For me, those lasers imparted the idea that Earth is screwed since 1 mech is roflstomping entire armies easily. Earth wasn't ready, the humans weren't ready and they are paying for it dearly.
lol. Good point on the double part, who knows whether they knew or not. Even if they did, it's not like they would've know they would react negatively to Earth's atmosphere and use her double. Well, thing is, it's not like she purposely stayed out of the line of fire. She just couldn't withstand the atmosphere change and was sick but also couldn't delay the meeting for peace so she elicited to use a double to make sure things went smoothly. Surely, you're being very picky here XD
I dunno, I still majorly disagree with your overall points and think you're being a bit too nitpicky. I think the setting is great, graphics have been really good so far especially once the castles landed and caused a massive nuke (or something else did). Mechs are variable with different powers so at least they have their own identify to speak of. Story is developing along nicely though there are several flaws but not that big of a deal imo. I'm watching to see the mech fights, how the story develops and because I like the whole concept etc...

Let's not forget that early foul that should've been a red and Neuer smacking his elbow into Higuain which got looked over due to being the finals. Germany did lose Khaedira and Kramer so that was problematic too and had 2-3 chances (that header would've haunted them if they lost). Still, I will always cheer for Argentina! I'll also leave this here: On July 14 2014 14:16 BigFan wrote:Show nested quote +On July 14 2014 11:31 Steveling wrote:On July 14 2014 11:15 IntoTheWow wrote:Meh, hard to criticize messi, he scored 2 goals against nigeria (one was amazing), winning goal against Bosnia (very difficult too), winning goal against Iran (impossible goal lol), made the winning play against Switzerland and rumor has it he's not 100% fit physically. I would hardly blame him, he was man marked most games (usually with 2 defenders closing on him (several times with 3-4 defenders on him when he grabbed the ball vs Belgium)... You cannot simply have one player do everything every game, at least not anymore in 2014, maybe around the 1950s. Coaches learned how to neutralize those threats (at expense on leaving something else open or less guarded), but asking him to pull what he did vs Iran in every game (for example) is like asking a golfer to strike a hole-in-one every game. Maybe we should criticize Cristiano Ronaldo for not scoring 1-2 goals every game, since he's the Ballon d'Or holder. Kind of a toxic argument don't you think? The rumor? lol The guy barely walks after 60mins in every world cup game. Either he has a condition, something to do with his vomiting as well, or for some reason he is rly lacking in fitness. What do argentinians say about him intothewow? ya, this seemed odd to me as well. I can understand if he expends a lot of energy when he makes all those runs but even then, at times, he's just walking around to gain it back so it can't be that he's unfit or anything like that. Maybe he's got some nasty cold though that wouldn't explain the vomiting. I feel that it was more that his team didn't click with him that well. Several times especially in the 2nd half, he'll make a good break, a great pass infront of the goalie but none of his team members were there to complete it and I vaguely recall him looking frustrated (maybe even pointing and shouting something) in one of those occasions. + Show Spoiler +honestly most people in germany are mad as fuck about the ref because everyone thinks he was really in favor of argentina. The red card... yeah that could have been a red card, at the same time there were 2 or 3 yellow-red cards that were ignored within 3 minutes at the end of the game that should all have been clear yellow cards but didn't end up being ones because clearly the ref wasn't willing to send people off the field. Schweinsteiger was running on the field bleeding for crying out loud and they tackled him, hitting his legs/feet when there wasn't even a ball and the ref just didn't see that happening... The second attack vs Kramer that knocked him out wasn't even shown. The thing Neuer did is exactly the same Sergio Romero did. He literally did the same thing just without captain falco action but instead a stretched out kick with the spikes of his shoe going first into the enemy and noone gave a fuck about that. A lot of people think the Kramer thing that was shown should have been a penalty because you can see a 2nd guy from ARG who's pushing him into that situation but that's a bit far fetched and would have been out of line with how lenient he was troughout the entire game.
But in the end it's fine because we won so it's stuff like "not even that scumbag off a ref could deny us our 4th title!" you'll hear people say. About the header... yeah that was quite dramatic... + Show Spoiler [WC] +yes, there were several pro-Argentinan calls but that those 2 calls I noted could've easily had Argentina win the game. Even Germany being down one man would've struggled to defend and score so I think overall, when you consider those ones, there was a slight bias in Argentina's favour but not that major (missed several calls). Thing is, you always need to consider if some things are purposely done. I'm not saying that some of ARgentina's players purposely targetted Schwinsteiger or not but the ref was obviously trying to avoid sending anyone off unless it's absolutely major. At worst, they would've gotten a yellow but they still remain in the game (correct me if I'm wrong).
I dunno about second Kramer attack. First one seemed like an accident (or so) to me. He must've hit him hard if he caused him to bleed lol but that can be accidential. I missed the Romero one or rather, don't recall it in comparison to Neuer's hit. Thing is, with some many players 'faking' pain, it's become hard to recognize who is actually really hurt and who is playing hurt to get a free kick. Anyone who plays hurt loses respect from me.
hehe funny, I saw people saying that some Germans weren't happy and complaining about that yellow card that should've been a red. Sometimes posted about it in the WC thread. Also, seems like Argentinas while disappointed, were still happy that the team made it this far and almost won against a strong German team. Man, thinking about those missed opportunities and that one good chance Messi had, rough for Argentina :/
ya, that header was crazy dramatic especially the timing >.>

I think my biggest problem with Argevollen right now is the main robot. I just can't make myself like it. Its like if they took the Arbalest, took out Al, and then made it hideous (and make no mistake, that robot is one of the most hideous robots ever designed, its like something from Bayformers or some shit). It even has a Lambda Driver, although it hasn't started making AT Fields or anything yet (and hopefully it won't). But those are all minor, side complaints about it. I can stomach ugly robots, but what makes it hard is how out of place it looks. Argevollen's design is just so radically different from everything else. Maybe I'll get over it eventually. I still like the other robot designs.
The CG this episode was pretty noticeably bad too, but I suppose not everything can be MJP.
And despite the all complaints, I'm overall liking it.

Ao Haru Ride Barakamon Rokujouma no Shinryakusha!? Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance Tokyo Ghoul Tokyo ESP aka fake X-Men
Also Hanamonogatari when it comes out of course.
Any other shows you guys are liking that I might have missed? Not Akame because I don't want to watch that O_o I'm liking Sabagebu and DRAMAtical Murder myself. I haven't watched Blade Dance yet, is it good? Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance was ok I guess? Almost seems like another Dragonar type but with less fan service. Its borderline for me to continue it but I want to give it at least 2 more episodes to see more about it. Its not like Majimoji Rurumo which I dropped right away. sweet i'll watch it today. i'm finally gonna catch up to all the ep 2's that i haven't seen yet too.
Seireitsukai story is slightly better than seikoku, still pretty generic harem phantasy stuff. I wish art quality isn't that terror though (apparently no one can draw hands...)

BigFan I like how you are telling me about shows I recommended for you(Tokyo ESP and Nozaki-kun) as well as the show I've been waiting for all year because I read the manga(not that I don't read the manga for the other two, which I do) Tokyo Ghoul.
That said I'll stop being a dick because you've been helpful about everything else so thanks a lot buddy I knew I could count on you and your brother in arms Ryuhou.

I honestly don't remember. I've had a lot of recommendations but it's usually easier to remember them to check them out when the new season is here.
Well, you asked for a season overview so you got what you asked for No problem, hope it had just enough info to get you to try a couple of shows

Ore no Kanojo was ok, I think I liked it better then what it is because it was one of the 1st anime I watched when I 1st started to watch anime again. I think generally here it had a lukewarm reception at best.

Second episode of Hanayamata was just as cringey as the first episode.
BUT I WON'T GIVE UP. I believe that once all this low-tier drama is over, there will be light! I believe once meganekko starts dancing, there will be love! I see dreams. I see stars. I see potential! And thus, I refuse to give up!
COME TO ME, EPISODE THREE. COME TO ME, MEGANEKKO!
