To clarify, I just wouldn't try to sell any shoujo by comparing it to kaichou wa meido. Tonari no kaibutsu itself was alright.

What do you consider a good Shoujo manga and/or anime? Most from the ones I have read seem pretty generic. Know any that stand out? This one called Orange seems to get high praise on MAL but who knows what that actually means. Nana also seems good.

Don't read Nana unless you want to fall in the same trap as millions of sad fans. EDIT - Checked LaLa to see if I missed things, there is also akagami no shirayukihime and last game. The former I can't say I am completely sold on and the latter feels like it is just going to drag out and kill itself.

Nana is a trap? It seemed to get some high marks, the only reason I haven't watched the anime yet is because its a bit on the longer side.

Then I found out she did all these other sick roles in the past. Mei from Sukinayo was the biggest surprise to me.

+ Show Spoiler + Short and sweet if I had to say so myself. I believe it is only 46 minutes in duration. That's not even as long as an episode of Sherlock. Extremely beautifully animated from the rain to the actual character animations. Story was pretty simple and nice but I'd like to know more of the problem that Yukino had. She said she lied to her previous boyfriend(?) about having a taste disorder or something about being a liar. The only peeve along with the length of it was that Hanakana voicing Yukino. I know they probably wanted someone young to voice the character but when you ask me what roles Hanakana voices, a teacher would not be in there. All in all it was a great movie. Rating wise something like a 8.9 I dunno. Ao Haru Ride + Show Spoiler + I seriously thought that Tanaka was the teacher after the time skip. They looked incredibly similar. I have a feeling it might not be a lighthearted show but atm it has my attention. Will keep up with this.

The MC isn't a bland, blank slate viewer avatar, the kid is adorable a-la Yotsuba, and the manga it's based off of is damn good. I think it's the only thing I'm truly hyped for this season. I really dislike that kind of attitude in people tbh and coincidentally enough Barakamon isn't my cup of tea. I won't even try to criticize the show for it, it's just the same story as Bunny Drop for me- vivid, unlikeable, and antisociable boring main character with a retarded attitude paired with somewhat -realism-oriented-touch cute idealistic genki girl for whom he has father feelings, but she gets tiring very fast and generic neighbourly minor elderly supporting cast anywhere they go. If you are doing slice of life, it should be about something unusual and wonderful to watch, some rare moments of brilliance to cherish, but the point is - I can see why it has a certain appeal at people and I don't even slighlty mind it while all kind of non-conformists are trying to show off how bad they think the anime industry nowadays is. This little rant didn't meant to be personal, just something desired to be taken into consideration next time.
