If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. TLADT discord is Discord.gg

Dragonar Academy (its full name so Sent won't be upset ;D)

+ Show Spoiler +
I don't think it was ever explicitly stated what Navi is, maybe some representation of dragonkind from the "good" dragon lineage? I dunno. There was a lot to be desired from back lore to be filled in. The story kind of lost its way a little bit and I don't know if its because they cut stuff to cram it into 1 cour or they said "dragons N boobs should be good enough! Who needs a coherent story!". I agree that the character designs were quite sub par, mostly because they inflated every female characters chest to silly levels and their clothing/uniforms were very plain. Also those "horns" of eco's were kinda lame, should have made them more like horns and not just weird bump things on her head. I didn't rate the series highly (I think a 6?).

Edit: Yes its a light novel adaptation so that probably contributes to what I said in the spoiler.

you put what I couldn't into words lol. It just felt like they tried hard to sexualize (if that's a word lol) the anime when you didn't need to go that far. The maid, Silvia's sister, that crazy chick that started to love Ash after he tried to save Silvia etc... it's ... not ... needed! lol. I thought the horns were ok though. She was supposed to be a child in my eyes so smal horns fit that.

Just pulled up the wiki and here is what it says about Navi:

+ Show Spoiler +
Navi is the overseer of the Dragon Workshop and has all the knowledge of past dragons. Her appearance is what Eco 'might' become in a few years. She is later revealed to be the incarnation of the Dragweiss itself which is considered the dragon race's Akashic Records. At some point in the future, Eco will absorb Navi, gaining access to the full knowledge, wisdom, and power of the Dragonweis. By doing so, she will direct the future of the Dragon race.

Finished my GM Sniper K9. I came to like its design a lot more while building it, while at the same time came to fucking loath its legs, because there is a peg in its upper leg, near where it meets the hip, that just keeps fucking falling off. I wonder if it would have killed Bandai to have made that peg even a 3rd of a centimeter longer?

Ehh, even gundam doesn't get anything more than like two course per season now

Flagship Gundams still get 50~ episodes. SEED had 50, SEED Destiny had 50, 00 had 50, AGE had 49. Spinoffs and side stories are another story.

Yea but the first season of 00 had 25 episodes and the second has 25.

Seed had 50 in one season and then season 2 (seed destiny) had another 50.

Age was I guess had 50 episodes straight but GBF has 25 for the first season and likely another 25 for second season

I think the only current/recent sunrise show that matches gundam seed / destiny in episode count is probably Aikatsu with 50 in first season and 50 in second season and that's generally what I'm trying to say. Its rare to see one season of an anime get more than 2 cours at max right now.

It's rare, but it's been like that for a pretty long time. Not sure why you're limiting to sunrise. There was Space Bros which was 99 eps, and both Daiya and Jojo are scheduled to be 4 cour. HxH is also still going at over 100eps, and Toriko recently ended which was about that length too but they do fall under the category of super long shounen. Arguably, Puchimas counts too in terms of sheer episode count lol. Also the Precure franchise tends to be 4 cour as well.

Not sure why people are hyped about this? All the stuff I've seen that are essentially the same thing (Hanasaku Iroha, Tari Tari) have ranged from average to god awful .>.>

Well I did enjoy Uchouten and Hanasaku but did not watch Tari Tari. So if enjoyed them then my hopes is Glasslip will do well. Or just megane girl.

All of PA originals are just copy paste of the same thing, if you liked Hanasaku Iroha you should like Glasslip.

Alternatively you can actually get bored because it isn't like they make the shows different.

Tip: If you want to shit on P.A. Works you should go with something that's not bullshit for a better effect.

If I wanted to shit on PA works I wouldn't be so mild as to call them boring. At that, I'd shit more on their adaptations since those are the real horror from them anyway.

I wouldn't go as far as saying they're copy-pastes, but I agree with ZNF and Ecael. The kind of drama they go for, what plot devices they use, their character archetypes, etc. are all so similar that enjoying one show probably means you'll enjoy another.

That. They have shown an overwhelming preference in terms of original works for a sol self-discovery thing with a dash of shoujo. When the overall structure of the shows aren't too different, the characters end up being pretty much the same thing too.

I did hear talk of nagiasu switching things up a bit, but the people I see liking that show are also the people whose opinions I disagree with the most. Sooooo yeah

I won't deny some similarities, and it's true they are going for the sol self-discovery thing, but I don't think that warrants calling them all copypastes with nothing new added. True Tears, Tari Tari and NagiAsu are all fairly different I'd say.

As for the adaptions, I don't know how they compare to the source. I liked Uchouten Kazoku, the others I've seen were lackluster.

Umm the entire show was aimed at Kagerou Project fans so the idea of spoiling the story via cover songs is laughable when the story is based on the original songs anyway. The episode titles alone tell you pretty much what it's going to cover if you've ever listened to the music before. And apparently you didn't even notice the insert songs are the same as the episode titles or that they are all written by Jin because Kagerou Project. Alternatively, you can view it as a Vocaloid commercial, in which case it almost worked on you.

i'm aware of everything you just mentioned... one after the other:
1) i wasn't a kagerou fan when i watched it so there might be other people like me out there who haven't heard the songs. so no, not wanting to spoiler isn't ridicolous at all imo. Also I'd say it's quite unlikely for people who are traversing this thread to have the combination of a) knowing the songs in the first place b) needing recommendations.
2) i know that they're all by the same guy... like i said I did look it up a little. I just copy & pasted from MAL to get it right and that does happen to include the very obvious "by jin"
3) the copy&pasted name for the song in #11 for example is, as you mentioned, the name of the episode and it's been like that ever since ep2 so even if I didn't realize it I'd have to realize it while looking it up and pasting for the post you just quoted lol, so yes I'm aware.

you sure you haven't just watched the movies? Because the ending of madoka, the series, was the one that was great, that people loved and that actually did make sense to a point where you felt like it's a finished series and doesn't need a continuation at all.
Until the third movie came along, changed the whole thing up, ends with a cliffhanger that makes very little sense and made people angry because it does need a continuation...

it's hilarious because it's equivalent to saying don't read the source material or you'll spoil the anime. If you knew, I find it strange you said "forgot name and youtube didn't say anything about it" when the episode name is in the youtube title and you said you know it's by Jin, which are two of the main pieces of info you provided. actually, now that I actually look, all the info is provided in the youtube description so now I don't even know what to think.

i'm aware of everything you just mentioned... one after the other:
1) i wasn't a kagerou fan when i watched it so there might be other people like me out there who haven't heard the songs. so no, not wanting to spoiler isn't ridicolous at all
2) i know that they're all by the same guy... like i said I did look it up a little. I just copy & pasted from MAL to get it right and that does happen to include the very obvious "by jin"
3) the copy&pasted name for the song in #11 for example is, as you mentioned, the name of the episode and it's been like that ever since ep2 so even if I didn't realize it I'd have to realize it while looking it up and pasting for the post you just quoted lol, so yes I'm aware.

it's hilarious because it's equivalent to saying don't read the source material or you'll spoil the anime. If you knew, I find it strange you said "forgot name and youtube didn't say anything about it" when the episode name is in the youtube title and you said you know it's by Jin, which are two of the main pieces of info you provided. actually, now that I actually look, all the info is provided in the youtube description so now I don't even know what to think.

you know that I looked the OP/ED's up on MAL because that's easy copy&paste and then searched youtube for stuff like "mekaku city actors episode 11" and just picked the fitting one without loading the episode up myself and looking up what it was called.
I did change and edit (nvm that) the info in the next day when I had a little more time.

OH, you mean the fact that I wrote "youtube didn't say anything about it". That was shorter than writing "it's late and I'm too lazy to look it up, here just have the link, it's probably correct".

Eca quite likes Uchouten Kazoku, to be fair. His position is when they actually adapt the source correctly then they have a far less likely chance of screwing things up.

Well Slaughter and I are the only ones that didn't get fed up with the show, but if you intend to watch the show and haven't watched it don't open the spoiler / don't click the links. It's pretty much spoilering everything:

Yuukei Yesterday (夕景イエスタデイ)" by Jin ft. LiSA (ep 6)

Ayano no Koufuku Riron (アヤノの幸福理論)" by Jin ft. Aki Okui (ep9)

forgot the name and youtube didn't say anything about it (ep 3)

And well, it had Ene. Yeahyeah, I like Asumi Kana all right but I don't think I ever saw a more fitting role for her. Not that I've seen all THAT much of her yet but probably my new favorite role from her.
