My gut tells me that Oda wouldn't write that. Too contrived, as first Rocinante would somehow survive eating a second devil fruit long enough to rescue Law, and then get murdered by DD afterwards, then Law escaping with no help and finding the ope ope fruit again.

I mean, we know some of the things that happened/will happen in the flashback, like DD causing the death of Rocinante. More likely is the follwing:
Law getting the ope ope fruit due to Rocinantes efforts and then rescuing himself is probably what will generally happen. Then Doflamingo somehow finds out Rocinante was working against him(maybe Buffalo or Baby5 tell DD, maybe Vergo gets wind of that, who knows) and kills him.



Not exactly? We know DD is crazy, vengeful and sadistic. If he didn't treat his followers better than his enemies, I don't think he would have so many followers.

I would say the reason Doffy called them towards the end because he obtained the opi opi fruit or similiar one that he thinks will cure Law. It is also possible that he had it the whole time but he let Law believe he didn't have it to see whether or not Law would live up to his expectations.

I don't know how exactly these things were written in the original, as that could be a hint. If "god" was written as the english god phonetically("go du"), then it would support this very thought, as D could stand for phonetically the english word devil(3 or so letters that would spell "devilu". Can't remember how v sounds get approximated in japanese).

Luckily since Oda has just not told us readers everything in the past, that could still be true if the original chapter uses "kami" or another word for god. After all, Corazon is just a character and could make a mistake, amirite?
