I think it's important that Luffy has a drive forward and endless enthusiasm that the other crew members don't have. [spoiler]Zoro turned down the invitation of baroque works, and spent years just being a low bounty hunter in East Blue. Sanji felt too responsible and indebted to leave his mentor and surrogate father Jeff. Nami and Usopp have trouble dealing with resistance, both emotionally and physically. Chopper thought he could never have friends. Robin has become jaded over the years. Before meeting Luffy she was satisfied to just continue existing. Franky has had bad experiences with his dreams before and put them on the backburner for years. Brook's journey came to a halt when he got trapped by Gekko Moria. Consider how old they all are. Luffy is actually the second youngest of the whole crew. Only chopper is 2 years younger. Luffy was 17, Usopp was 17 as well, Nami was 18, Zoro and Sanji were 19. Robin was 28, Franky was 34, Brook was trapped in the mist over 50 years. If they had the same drive forward as Luffy, they would have been farther along to their goals, and not 6 of them would have still been close to their hometowns. TL:DR: Luffy is actually an amazing leader. Not because he is the main character, but because Oda actually knows what makes a good leader. Oda is as smart as Sabo .[/u] | ||

I'm really curious actually when he'll be appearing the manga again, i hope pretty soon. | ||

He tells Luffy right after he sees him that he will survive the full month and that he can't die because he has a dream to fulfill. Luffy also "blackmails" him. After Zoro says that the swords are his treasures, he states that if he wants his swords back he would have to join. Also, after he joins Luffy he stated that if he got in the way of his dream, he will make him commit harakiri. | ||

Luffy is quite literally a troublemaker. One who can potentially incite conflicts at a moment's notice and piss off big guys very quickly. Not only is Zoro likely to get into more fights with stronger opponents when following Luffy, he will also be doing the right thing Because let's be honest: Would Zoro traveling alone ever have attacked several bases of the Marine and encountered a buster call aimed at him? Probably not. I'm sorry I read that bolded part and could help but think of this. | ||

Like so many people said only Luffy would have had the will power to have gathered this group of people, for sure Zoro would always be strong and would improve if he joined another crew or the marines. But they had to be righteous. For instance i can see him work for Garp or maybe Smoker but never a guy like Akainu. He could work for Shanks but not Kidd or DD. He always had the dream because of the promisse he made and i think he liked Luffy and knew that following him would put him closer to his dream.. they all did because Luffy makes people believe in themselves and in their group. | ||
