I don't get the implications of this chapter at all.
If Zangetsu isn't Ichigo's zanpaktou, but is a reflection of his Quincy powers, does that mean he's been using his Quincy powers all along, and not his Shinigami? And if that's the case, does that mean he's gonna have some other ridiculous bankai that will make him invincible all of a sudden?
So confused...

Ya I have no clue either. I thought they were saying that his Hollow side was actually his Shinigami powers but then that makes no sense either...

That would mean: A) hes the oldest and first Shinigami there is ( why isnt he king then?) B) Shinigamis before him didnt even have Zanpakutos (their trademark missing? naaah) Hes more likely simply in charge of making all the swords. I doubt its true, cause if it is its terribly again. That would mean his Hollow powers has a trillion stages. Hollow sword, hollow shikai, hollow Bankai, Hollow Mask, full hollow and whatnot. When Ichigo went full hollow, his sword remained, but Ulquiorra recogniced Ichigos Hollow Power, Cero, Sonido etc etc. He didnt consider Ichigo really hollowlike before that, even with mask. If his Sword would be Hollow based and he uses Bankai, which is arguably the main part of his power, you think noone of the hollows would have noticed? Or noone of the Shinigami Captains? The weird sword guy even said it, that no zanpakutou can be released without his asauchi. Maybe we'll get some clarification on this in the next few weeks though. You don't actually think this right? We still also need an explanation for why when ichigo learned the ultimate getsuga, zangetsu appeared as some emo guy. I think what I'm led to believe. There's stuff that we guess at, and then there are things that are literally stated. I get that, im not trying to prove things wrong (well ok i sorta am). My initial point, and looking at the topic here im not alone, was that even the things the author clearly states and leads us to believe, which in the manga are real explanations, are still full of holes, and badly crafted. Therefore bleach isnt deep. Kubo shouldnt try so hard to pull off these plot connections if he keeps messing them up. Should just delete everything after Aizen arc, and do it simpler, but better. You misquoted me on the 2nd quote, that's forik.
As for the zanpakutou before Nimaiya, it's probable that they didn't exist in that form. They could have wielded swords, and possibly done kido, but the zanpakutou as we know it didn't exist until Nimaiya invented them. Sometime between 1100 years ago and 2100 years ago Zanpakutou were created by Nimaiya.

obviously hes the part of the Soul King and was put in Ichigo to supress the part of Bach thats inside Ichigo, and was trying to stop him from using the Final Getsuga because Bach needed the bit inside Ichigo to completely awaken I kinda think you're trolling, but he doesn't look anything like the Soul King. Likely, he'd be chibi Bach.

That was actually a good twist that made sense.

Hmmm.... Maybe this arc is intentional ( since we don't know what happened). But if you think about the end of the Aizen arc then, it means what was "Sealed" after Final Getsuga was basically just his quincy powers right and not his real shinigami powers? So this arc makes the full bring arc more useless and makes it appear as filler I guess. But there may have been an arc in between the current arc and the full bring arc which would have given the full bring powers relevance, problem is the popularity of bleach was continously slipping so they have to skip it. And still Quincy powers tend to draw in reiatsu right? So it shouldn't make sense for Ichi to have his reiatsu explode outward when he goes all bankai. I mean the sword does compress and condense, but his body does the opposite. So hmmm... Don't know how to even think about that.
Just my two cents. =)

I wouldn't say his "Quincy" powers got sealed after FGT... But it's kinda weird that 1 year before Juha Bach is fully revived, Ichigo, a Quincy-Hollow-Shinigami hybrid, uses an unique (?) technique that causes him to lose his powers... When we know that Juha gets stronger from taking from other people's (Quincy) powers..

Didn't Quincys have a move that let out their full power for one last fight only to lose it afterwards? (Ishida vs Mayuri if I recall correctly)
Wouldn't that be quite similar to Final Getsuga then? But... I dunno

Surely you dont blame him for not being able to tell. With your past record and what not.
This quincy power stuff may also be why ichigo has been able to fight stronger opponents and get to their level by absorbing some of reitsu with his "resolve."

So the quincy king lives inside his head, is friends with a hollow, Ichigo is the hollow king, he lost his powers because of Final move vs Aizen but still has them, he never had a zanpakuto to begin with, he's half shinigami/half quincy but he's also a hollow. But he's not a shinigamy or a hollow cuz he's still alive.
I DONT UNDERSTAND I WANNA CRY

I think this chapter was really interesting ! Can't wait to see what will be his abilities with this hollow zanpakoutou. Maybe his bankai will be the final hollow form but controllable O_O

wow full power gogo lol reminds me of the 120% power up from some other anime (now i have to use my full power, go 120% powerup gogo)

So where does Shirosaki come into all this?
|
so what was the skill ichigo used to defeat aizen? i remember isshin saying only zangetsu can teach you the final getsuga tensho but he wont. you need to force him by defeating bishonen zangetsu.
now we are told he wasnt zangetsu all along... my mind is blown
