This the one with the Hawkeye actor? It felt so detached from the original series.

![]() Very good thriller; lots of twists and mystery and all that sorta stuff. Obviously a lot of it is highly implausible, but it's a movie; calm down. Not quite sure how I feel about the ending, but the journey there is some good stuff. + Show Spoiler + One of the things that this movie does well is early on you can see it's going to be one of those "Rich guy who does nothing but work and doesn't care about people so some stuff's going to happen and he's going to mend his ways" movies, but as it progresses, you start to really think that it's not going to be like that. Of course, it does end up being one of those movies, but the fact that it makes the audience have seconds thoughts about it separates it from the rest of the mediocre movies cut from the same cloth.

![]() One of the best war films I have watched. It's amazing that they could pull off such a great movie with that low of a budget(12.8 million $)! You guys should watch this! 8.7/10

Pauline hires a mute bounty hunter (Jean-Louis Trintignant) to avenge her husband's death, killed byt the not so charming bounty hunter Tigrero (Klaus Kinski). My first italian western directed by someone else than Leone, and an a pleasure to watch. Every convetion of the western is inversed, Klaus Kinski is unforgettable, the love story is simple and touching and the ending... You gotta see it to believe it. Also snow rules. 8/10 Akahige (Akira Kurosawa) A young student is nominated under the order of a seemingly ill-tempered doctor (Toshiro Mifune). He will be transformed at his contact. Wow, what to say, one of the saddest and yet most enthralling movie ever done. A true lesson about the beauty of life and what it is to be human. Some of the story of misery in this movie are too touching, I'm still not sure I can really talk about it. Mifune is an incredible actor, and Kurosawa's directing is beyond words. He manages to keep you interested in people talking in small rooms for hours. The scene where the young girl helps cureing the doctor had me to tears. 10/10 A Special Day (Ettore Scola) The 8th May 1938, Hitler meets Mussolini in Rome. While everyone is out on the streets to celebrate this day, Antonietta (Sophia Loren) a mother of six and Gabriele (Marcello Mastroianni) are left behind in their appartments. While the subject of the movie can seem straightforward (it is violently antifascist), it is done in a very smart way. Those two characters are not antifascist in themsleves but learn they must be, as their freedom is denied (as Mastroianni's character famously puts "it is not the renter of the 6th floor who is antifascist, it is fascism who is against the renter of the 6th floor), and they learn it from each other each in their way. The subject also touches universality as this story could have happened in another context, but its the context that forcefully proves how profoundly injust their situation is. Sophia Lauren is very touching, and Mastroianni is a great actor, and they are both out of their confort zone. 8/10 Django Unchained (Quentin Tarantino) I'll post in the dedicated thread right after this. 7/10

I would consider it one of the best war movies ever made. ![]() Moneyball - This was pretty good and interesting. Also loved Philip Seymour Hoffman in this. I feel like I would have enjoyed this movie more though if I had ever followed or cared about baseball.

![]() I only watched this movie because it has Asano in it. I was fairly satisfied with the amount of Asano (unlike in Thor, when he had like two lame lines). The music was pretty good. Other than that, it was fairly bad and nonsensical.

It was like a worse version of Speilberg. Filled to the brim with patriotism and terrible clichés. JSA aka Joint Security Area, is a much better "war" movie, if you could call it that. ![]()

The movie didn't try to portrait the SK army as shiny knights, it showed how war gets to everyone and how it can change someone or how cruel war can be. It may have felt like it was influenced by Saving Privte Ryan at some moments but I didn't had any problem with that really never mind that Brotherhood done better job at most of them.

Sunset Boulevard (1950) - 9.0/10 ![]() Tragic american film noir about an unsuccessful screenwriter and a faded silent movie start that still lives in the illusion of beeing a critically acclaimed popular moviestar. Amazing writing, story and screenplay overall. Still feals very "fresh", also one of those movies everybody should have seen at least once in their life. Der blaue Engel/ The Blue Angel (1930) - 8.0/10 ![]() This german movie is based on Heinrich Mann's 1905 novel Professor Unrat starring Marlene Dietrich as the beautiful show girl Lola and Emil Jannings as the notoriously strict teacher/professor Rath that is consumed by his desire for Lola. Absolutely magnificent, shattering performance by Jannings. Too bad he struggled so much with the english language otherwise I'm sure this guy would have become a world star. Also one of the reasons I'm not sure I can recommend the english version as I have heared only bad stuff about the english dubbing. So watch this in german with english subs if you have to! The Third Man (1949) - 7.0/10 ![]() This film noir takes part in a destroyed post-WW2 Vienna where a unhappy writer seeks to visit his childhood friend (starred by Orson Welles), who has offered him a lucrative job. Overall the story and acting in this movie are so-so, but the real star is the amazing scenery and atmospheric cinematography by Robert Krasker. I'm glad somebody took the historic opportunity to shoot a film in this bombed yet still beautiful city. Imagine how costly it would be to shoot a movie with comperable scenery today. Rear Window (1954) - 7.0/10 ![]() Dial M for Murder (1954) - 8.0/10 ![]() I'm currently in the process of rewatching Alfred Hitchcock's most acclaimed movies and those two have struck out so far. Not gonna go much into detail here, but both movies are very highly ranked in the mystery genre and i really enjoyed watching them. Okay that's it ![]() ![]()

![]() Having never seen any Stark Trek anything prior to this, I enjoyed it quite a lot. The lens flares were a bit much at the very beginning, but other than that, I think a little overblown. I look forward to seeing the next one.

The reason its taken so much flak from the fans is because although it's a good action/sci-fi movie, it's not a very good Star Trek movie.

Sure I can see that a person is talented at something, but even when you are talented, you need training and practice to become good at something, moreover being talented does not imply knowledge of things you have never encountered before. Long story short, someone with no training can not be a good soldier a good leader a good tactician and know how to operate a complex craft of that size. I also find it unlikely that the people in charge would be OK with letting someone just do whatever within their organisation. The whole story felt really hasty and more of a second thought, Micheal Bay could have made this movie.

There was nothing he did that was outside the realm of belief. He was allowed to do what he wanted because he was named captain under emergency circumstances and a planet was about to be destroyed.

![]() A very confusing trailer and movie at first, but I think it was very well done. I watched the trailer not knowing what the movie was even about, but my university's movie theater shows movies for free and this happened to be one of them. There's a lot of stories that seem unrelated at first, but they all come together at the end. Although, I had to spend some time putting some of the stories together. Cloud Atlas doesn't seem to have one general plot, but rather multiple stories with different genres set in many different time frames. I absolutely enjoyed all of the stories. I would definitely recommend this movie if anyone has some time to kill or are simply curious. Quite possibly in my top ten list of best movies I've seen.
