That song was sung by Bronn and some other Lannisters at Episode.. 8? Of season 2 and it's in the books too. It's called Rains of Castamere and is pretty much the Lannister song. But that particular version was sung for the credits of that episode - the song itself is awesome but yeah, doesn't really fit this trailer at all.

those modern objects are meant to signify "our current world" and game of thrones "the bird" is returning to us
They've done similar teasers for the last season with no real content. It's just their way of saying "Hey, this show still exists!" The real teaser will come soon.
And could some of you people please stop it with the subtle spoilers, please?
Don't get why you people are so insanely obsessed with the trailer... I've seen loads of awesome trailers, and the movies / shows tured out to be complete shit. And for those not understanding the skyscrapers and stuff... what? Its written at the end: "Their world comes to ours", how much more obvious can it be.

So saying there will be an event or that something (unspecified) will happen in the next season is a spoiler? The spoiler hysteria has gone too far... >_<

Of course. Nothing is more annoying than people coming here and going "Character X will be SO IMPORTANT!" or "Can't wait for Episode X! It'll be so epic!!11" or "XYZ is a big hint for things to come people!". There is a reason the spoiler rules here are so strict.

Agreed, there is another thread for this kind of stuff for a reason.
As the new season approaches moderation will go towards zero tolerance regarding spoilers again.

Please be especially tough on the people that post in the GoT spoiler thread and then also start to "speculate" about what might happen in the spoiler free thread, pretending they dont know.

They decided to change the third season to add in an Assassin's Creed style twist.

M. Night Shyamalan is channeling his evil magicks to make this happen.
So I got the books, they are a good read but reading something when I already know what happens is tough for me. I'm afraid to go to the book thread in case of spoiling myself so I have to ask this here. I'm already 3/4's the way through the first and will finish it. But I'm having trouble motivating myself to read it when I already know everything. So my question is.. Is it absolutely necessary to read the second book if I've seen the show? Or can I skip to the third book and not be lost/miss a ton of stuff?
Sorry for bringing up the books here but it's not really discussing what happens in them so I think I should be okay? Just don't want to spoil anything accidentally by going to the book thread.
TLDR: Have the books, have trouble reading things when I already know everything. Is it necessary to read the second book or can I skip to the third after I finish the first?

Things occasionally go differently in the book than they do in the show, so you really should read the books. Different characters do different things, events occur in different orders, different events occur entirely, and things occasionally play out differently. The show is fairly accurate but there are changes to make it fit better for a show, it's worth reading the books.
Not sure if I should answer here or not. I'm not going to talk about anything past season 2, promised, and only in very general terms. Still, spoilered, just in case. + Show Spoiler +
The first season is basically a 1:1 realization of the first book. The second season has taken more freedom, and there are some changes here and there, nothing major, but some not so minor ones. I would suggest reading the second book, for the differences and, more importantly, for all the details that didn't make it into the show.

You should definitely read the second book. There are a lot of details and characters left out of the second season of the show.

Since you already know what happens for the most part, take this opportunity to pay closer attention to all the small details, back story and foreshadowing.
