Well, some people didn't understand Tyrion's beetle story. Oberyn took over from Orson Lannister. He was so obsessed, so single minded on what he would do after the fight and so dismissive about the mountain lying on its back. Just like the beetle killing retard.
It's only a matter of time before Littlefinger sits on the Iron Throne. Let the Lannisters laugh for now. That's the big lesson: If you want to get shit done, be sneaky and ruthless, and ideally nobody knows you did it. Even the mountain got sneaky and ruthless down. Wait for the right moment and just kill him, no long speeches.
I would have preferred that Oberyn kills the mountain, though. You can't kill a guy that is as big as 2 muscular guys sitting on each others shoulders with 3 stabs of a spear.

I don't buy it, but I'm happy for you guys that you do. you'd complain that it was unrealistic that Carrie lashes out at the end of the book because its unrealistic that such a shy girl would even go to prom in the first place. He misjudged how much he needed to disable the opponent because he had no experience with men that large. are you telling me you thought that the mountain would be able to kill him while disarmed, unable to stand and impaled? or are you telling me that an experienced fighter wouldn't know what it takes to disable a man? or that he wouldn't become confident when he has accomplished what it takes? I haven't read Carrie. Saw the film (1976) though and was rather unimpressed. An experienced fighter would know to disable the brain. An experienced fighter would know that an opponent could feign injury, and one would think that you would be even more wary of that when your opponent is the largest man you'd ever fought. An experienced fighter wouldn't let his opponent out of sight, and would keep out of range until his opponent was confirmed dead. If he wanted a confession, he could have pranced around asking for that while keeping his distance. its hard to interrogate without a further threat. no one is threatening in hand to hand combat from a distance. death wasn't his goal, not his primary one. he wanted information more. Weird that he appeared to feel such anxiety whilst getting his information. It was almost as if he didn't want to get his head smashed in. That could have been easily avoided.
EDIT: I can see however that intoxication might have been a problem. This obsession bullshit is just amateur psychology nonsense though.

Well, your explanation doesn't make that story any better!

i just wish he had rolled away after being knocked down i really really hope the mountain dies, kinda wish arya rapidly grows up goes full ninja assassin mode and kills him. Also i dont think its gonna change if the mountain dies from his wound cause didnt tywin already declare the winner. god damn it...tbh when he said its not my day to die i thought he actully was gonna have like plot armor or like it was some hint. especially with his life being tied to tyrion.
Now my favourite characters are, tyrion, arya and hmm..i think thats it i pretty much hate everyone else lol, oh maybe jamie if he can like smuggle tyrion out and they go on some other story journey. Giant lady is cool too.
I thought sansa new armor/dress thing was super cool but her face just didnt seem badass to me. Idk i just cant find her attractive at all

Hopefully I don't need to bring out the history textbooks, but yeah. He didn't just want to get revenge on the Mountain, he wanted revenge on Tywin who ordered it too so it was really important to him that the Mountain would confess to it. Really, in terms of whose fault it was Oberyn may have hated the Mountain and Tywin equally as much. Indeed. Everyone chastising Oberyn for not ending the fight as soon as he could just doesn't understand his motivations at all. He didn't fight just to kill the mountain. Even before the fight he basically (and wrongly) took the mountains death for granted and was more focused on getting the confession that would give him a shot at Tywin. Confession wouldn't give him a shot at Tywin. It'd give him justification which he already had through word of mouth. He was just being dumb. Game of Throws. I think the story tries to be unpredictable by killing characters you're not sure will die. It's a way to keep you hooked on the story. Some people call this good storywriting when it really feels like being controlled. That's something that shows like Avatar the last airbender did well. They were entertaining without massive cliffhangers. Anyways I don't think Tyrion dies. This shit feels patronizing. Like I'm being handled. Kinda wanna stop watching.
Yeah, the mountain confessing in front of all of Kings Landing is equal to "some dude told me". You got it. If you feel like you're being handled, maybe it's because you're a tool? (couldn't resist)

The beetle story works on so many levels. I think it probably passed some people by because of the anticipation of the fight.
I like to see it as an analogy for GRRM's style of writing.

What a fucking stupid way to death.
AHHHH im so upset right now. I really hate GoT. Oberyn should've killed Mountain instead saying "say her name". aaaaaaaah so dumb. It was even more shocking than Ned Stark's death.
At least we learned that Oberyn is stronger than Mountain, and was strongest figher in series.

i cant stop thinking about it, this scene was too disturbing -.-

If Tyrion dies, will Jaime still agree to being the Lannister heir? Nothing is stopping him from not keeping his word if Tyrion is beheaded. Idk, I don't see Tyrion dying. Especially since we have seen Ned beheaded (I still remember myself watching that scene waiting for the clutch save...but it never came...)
