Since last season he was a total fanboy for some random reason and Dexter kept blowing him off and he also bought the icetruck killer maneqin hand last season. I don't buy the whole "making a videogame based on u brah" thing, that was to impress Dexter. And now he randomly cancels his credit cards? He didn't cancel them because he was pissed, since he obviously got the information from Dexters laptop. So this season we have creepy intern, laguerta, deb, ukrainian mob and possibly Quinn since he was on him earlier. Creepy intern has been kind of pissed at Dexter since he called his video game idea bad and offensive. I'm sure he knows about Dexter some how, why else would he have bought the hand and then mailed it to him? I think the credit card thing was more or less a message like "I have power over you!" Or maybe even like the ice truck killer and the barbie doll a message like "Wanna play?"

As a criminal justice major and someone that plans to be a detective in the future, this show is almost insulting. Is Dexter the only fucking person in that entire department that is good at his job? A cop just got killed -- something that would usually get the whole force worked up into a state-wide manhunt -- and we got the two stooges and Masuka over here handling it. While the former are off drinking, the latter is sifting through useless paperwork and all the while Dexter finds and kills the guy before the day is done. I understand Dexter broke into the guy's apartment, checked his laptop, and other things that violated the fourth amendment, but he's a vigilante; I get that, so he'll be able to do things regular cops can't. But nobody checks the turn signal?! Dexter is really the only person capable of figuring that gem out? These detectives have decades of experience combined and they all decide to look for fingerprints everywhere but the turn signal? I also loved the AFIS app for his iPhone XD It's a real shame they killed off the new cop. He was the only other reasonably competent detective in the show and he gets killed after having just enough lines to start to see some potential. But as someone earlier in this thread said, every black person on this show dies :\ All my qualms aside, I am interested in Louis. The Ice Truck Killer's hand was lying on the table at the end and so I wonder how Dexter will handle that. So there's that... Meh.

I assumed dexter was the first person to dust the car for prints, so if he found it on the turn signal he could easily wipe it off so no one else sees it?

That part is actually written a little weird, Dexter says 'theres somewhere they always forget to clean, the turn signal' making it seem like the most obvious place for cops to check...

There is nothing unreasonable in supposing they will over look one particular area in a crime scene, as there are thousands of such events every year. Not to mention, this is a show, its a fucking artistic medium to express a story. In that regard while its perfectly reasonable to assume dexter then wiped the prints off so the cops COULDNT find this guy, it wasnt portrayed as it hurt pacing and bit into time constraints. The rest of your points are dismissed similarly: Of course there are other detectives following separate leads to find Mikes killer, they werent shown. We are shown the main characters, who exist to further emotional development and plot points in dexter and Debra. Thats there entire role. As far as there detective work goes it homogenizes and becomes generalized in the backdrop of 'the station' engaging in x activity. There has basically been exactly one point in which there was *any* fixation on what Batista etc were actually doing day to day on the job, and it was the ice truck killer. And even then it was just a means of needling out clues to Dexter and to give an excuse for his inner monologue. Why the Hell am I still watching this show? If there detective work isnt relevant to Dexter, it will be glossed over because its fucking background story. Period. And every black guy dies...you mean Doakes and Mike? Theres only been two. Thats not exactly some trend to point out.

I don't know if you ever took statistics in high school but that's a 100% death rate. Don't you think that's a pretty hard figure to argue against.
