Jiren is probably going to be the biggest threat and he will probably only be a little stronger than Goku. Unless that fighter that is stronger than a god of destruction is in the tournament (Jiren?).

But the Team FFA format changes things up considerably so there isn't a need for an OP super dude. In fact it would be better if they really embraced the team tactics type battle so it will change how things usually end up. They don't need a guy significantly stronger then everyone this time. Just a bunch of guys who are threats like Jiren and Hit (plus in this format almost anyone can be a threat if all they have to do is knock you off the platform since no flying powers).

I feel like Kale will one shot about half the universes. Jiren is a threat, but only in terms of fighting power. He's clearly trained to a different degree than Hit or Goku or Vegeta.

The GoDs fighting was pretty cool, if albeit short. Wish we could have had more action but I get where the animators went. I hope they get someone else to do the animation for some of the more crucial fight scenes. DBS animation really is shit.

I dunno if Kale is going to be that strong. Jiren's entrance sure made Goku and Vegeta take notice.

I liked Caulifa this episode. Truly a Sayian. She would fit in with the U7 ones keke.

That's because she has to transform. As she is, Kale is nothing. Jiren is at his peak regardless of what's going on. Goku and Vegeta recognized him out of everyone who showed up. That tells you something.

Jiren is clearly the buildup strong guy. Kale I think will surprise people because they will think she is an easy target but I doubt she is stronger then Mystic Gohan.

For when he first awoke that form yes he was, though he was still prone to doing gohan things and ended up getting absorbed anyway lol. Now? He is below Goku/Vegeta/Freeza by a mile. Android 17 maaaaybe might be above him too but you can't take his duel with Goku at face value.

Kale is unknown because you don't know how powerful they will make the homage to Brolly character. Caulifa (at least appeared) to go SSJ2 in the episode where she deflected the blast by Kale so who knows with the U6 Sayians lol.

I think you guys are forgetting the girl Vegeta fights in the opening. I'm gonna guess she's the strong wild card nobody is expecting and Vegeta will have to deal with her while Goku fights Jiren. She already got introduced in another episode plus she's in the opening I don't think that's for nothing.

Yeah gohan was definitely super strong in his semi-prime +mystic but the problem with him is being uncommitted to training. Theres no doubt that the god forms of vegeta or goku outclass him even back then and even now hes just way too rusty and has a ton of room to catch up.

That being said gohan in that tight black suit while fighting babadis men was super bad ass

Gohan is definitely not stronger than Goku, Vegeta and Freiza. As for 17, I think it's complete bs that he's said to be strong enough to rival Goku (implied somewhat in that one episode). I would say Gohan is the fourth strongest member of the current team and should also be able to dominate U6's saiyans including Kale though I can see her being a match at least. No way Caulifa or Cabba can do anything tbh, SSJ2 won't cut it with the top fighters in this tourney.

You guys are selling our boy Gohan short. Sure, he needs training. And I think if he decided to have Whis train him, he would easily surpass those two. But the thing is, Gohan tapped back into Mystic easily. It was almost nothing to him. Now imagine some Beerus/Goku/Whis training. That would be crazy. Also, I think he's holding something back, as is his problem (see Cell)

I don't think he's being sold short. Yes he has the potential to be on Goku's and Vegeta's level but at the moment he's just not strong enough. He needs a lot more training to get close to them again. It's a miracle he's already back to his form in the Buu saga in such a short period of time. As always with Gohan the potential is there just not the training.

The problem with Gohan has always been that he isn't a fighter. He has massive potential but isn't interested in fighting except when its needed.

On a side note, this is the reason I love anime in general. We treat them like real people, but we all know that they are slaves to the authors whims.

Toriyama could write Gohan to achieve his potential in this arc if he wanted to, but he won't. He'll progress everyone but Gohan, and Goku will save the day in the end. Or he'll revert to the Cell ending and have Gohan save the day through Goku being an idiot and trusting everything to Gohan, once again.

"Anime in general" is also quite vague tbh, anime is basically a form of medium and not a genre.

Also was Goku an idiot in the cell games for believing in gohan?

Where did I say that I loved characters not getting development? We know that they do.

Anime in general is just as I said. We can pick out any anime and we get into arguments about who the best guy/girl is, who the best developed character is, and who has the best story. If they have a competent author that is. MHA and Dr. Stone are good examples of mangas having serious structure that translate amazingly to anime and is enhanced because. Bleach had something going and then died after Aizen arc. I could go on forever about this.

Goku was stupid for giving Cell a senzu bean so that Gohan had to fight him at full strength. If he had left it alone or just defeated Cell, then Gohan wouldn't have lost an arm, Goku wouldn't have had to blow himself and King Kai up, etc. That was what I was referring to. His insatiable hunger for battle and fighting strong people doesn't translate to the others.

If this tournament follows any part of the Cell games, it'll be Gohan having to fight Jiren because Goku wants to see his son follow in his footsteps. I also have reason to believe that person Whis was talking about, the one stronger than a GoD, is Gohan.
