1. I don't think that Toppo being considered for the position of god of destruction means that he is necessarily superior to, or even close to, Goku in power. Our only way of having any sort of idea about other universe's relative power (outside of our mirror universe) is by their average fighting power. This could be due to a variety of things. My impression is that other universe's supreme kais play a much more involved role in the development of strength/talent. I interpret clues we've gotten here and there to imply Goku's supreme kai takes a very hands off approach and does not make any attempt to raise the fighting power of his universe outside of very specific cases like Buu. As such, the overall power level of a universe that has existed for billions of years sure does give someone a lot of opportunity to spread philosophies that prioritize battle as much as it is valued by Zen-Oh. Universes could be entirely different and essentially be an expression of Saiyan ideals on a universal scale. 2. The issue of Whis' dad being evil: I think people are focusing on his longing for battle and interpreting it as longing for violence/destruction. As I touched on above, Zen-Oh and the overall kai structure have a deep enthusiasm and respect for battle as a whole. The fact that Zen-Oh would address universes for their fighting level, the known strength of Whis' dad, and the overall dynamic of having a god of destruction all paint a picture of a society that places strength and battle as among the most valued ideas. I think that Whis' dad is straight up stoked for the fight and legitimately looks forward to such a high stakes tournament. I think Saiyan ideals closely match Kai/Angel ideals and that there is an intrinsic value in both power and combat. | ||

Could it be possible that another universe would travel to universe 7 to kidnap them maybe to sway the fight against universe 7? But there would be no one left to save them except with intervention from beerus and whis. Could it become an angel v angel and GoD vs GoD? It seems unlikely that the grandpriest would even allow it to happen so i dont see how they would develop it as an idea for a story while the tournament is in progress. | ||

Not sure how strong individually they are... (obviously fusion would put them above alot of the others) but i somewhat remember 18 being able to hold her own against the two boys somewhere in that tournament, ofc they probably kept training and she probably didnt so idk. | ||

Plus with the rules in place for the tournament his fighting IQ and experience could be of at least some advantage. It's a reach to justify him over Trunks and Goten but he does at least have something to offer. The man has been around for over 300 years I think at this point, he knows how to fight and use strategies in the very least. | ||

As an example, Roshi pulling this shit off: As well as a blast greater than the width of a warship: The tin-foil hat wearing side of me places Roshi on a similar, yet much less powerful, version of Mr popo. But this belief is quickly blown out of the water by future Trunks, as Roshi is found to be dead in his timeline. One could argue popo and Roshi may understand the universe in a wider context than earth and would perhaps not distort events past their "natural" path. No matter how you slice it, mr popo has undergone extreme power developments. Mr Popo has a power level of 1030 during the saiyan saga, yet makes goten and trunks look like trash. Based on Freiza's power-level, that puts them well into the millions. Yet they are trivial to popo. But popo isn't roshi. Since the Buu saga, I have understood mr popo to be a Whis of sorts. Unfathomable power that is dripped as needed. | ||

Roshi is clearly not the strongest but his technique definitely always belies a deeper knowledge than his younger students. He could be used effectively. Hoping Gohan jobs out and is replaced by Goten to keep with tradition. | ||

I wouldnt have minded that if they had aged goten and trunkz to the appearane of GT, just as gohan aged to suit his coming fight with cell. Those two are currently just till kids we've never seen them younger unless you include baby trunks in the cell games. They havent aged since buu so i dont expect them to do anything special. That being said leaving them out feels like a big mistake As for roshi he could handle the swarm of freizas crappy men (which tbh im not sure were any where close to his saga fighting force) so not sure how much that says. Imo roshi and tien are just gonna be fodder for the all out brawl goku vegeta maybe gohan will be left but we'll see a tiny bit of fan service towards roshi and tien before they are knocked out and outclassed. Especially now that one v ones are out of the picture | ||

There is very little confusion about who's stronger at which time. Then look at Super and you have no idea who's stronger at which times. For example, during the black arc Vegeta should have been way stronger than Goku. Goku got his ass kicked by Black in an episode or 2 previously and did not train when going back (he practiced the containment wave). Vegeta kicked blacks ass. Forward along to fused Zamasu and somehow, Goku by himself was able to push back fused Zamasu's beam. This is just one example, the power of each character changes with no reason. DBZ had reasons when a character would be stronger than another. | ||

My idea was more along the lines of: People powerup on incredible scales simply because the current opponent requires it no matter if it seems reasonable or not. All while not really understanding the impact of what the new power lvl actually means. I mean sure a number goes up theoretically but besides that? It would be easy to argue that some feats actually shown in fights aren't any more impressive than before, it's just that the hair looks different and it's implied that it's a new height. Like how many times stronger is goku as ssj3 than ssj? Is this actually reflected in the fight between him and buu in comparison to the fight against frieza? But sure in super it's actually really bad, for dbz it's more of a nitpick | ||
