I like the concept of Vegeta's "I'll beat UI in my own way." I feel like they missed a chance to make the stuff from the Yardrat training stick and whatever Vegeta will learn, it'll end in him just being a second fiddle to Goku against the main villain yet again. If they manage not to do that, or better yet if they also tie back in to the Yardrat stuff, I'd be pleasantly surprised. I have every reason to expect shoddy writing though.

Well, I guess the answer to my question is not Beerus. Was Whis allowed to help look for fighters at the time? I remember telling a former Dragonball fan that doesn't follow anymore that Goku is around SSJ 10 by now.

I think most angels know who is in the universe. Beerus doesn't give a shit and more than likely, if Goku hadn't Yamcha'd the meeting with Zeno, nothing would have changed drastically. Maybe Broly but that's it.

and here I am reading these comments after the last dragon ball super anime arc and wondering how crazy things must've gotten if someone can actually challenge UI Goku in the same universe considering that even the gods can't achieve UI level consistently. What kind of silly writing is this? lol.

Just wanted to say here that this is explained in the Manga, and it's explained well.

Depending on who you're talking about it could be a big spoiler, so I'll just say it has something to do with the angels.

But here are some mild spoilers:

If you're talking about Gods of Destruction there are two things: Even though they call it mastered ultra instinct he hasn't really mastered it. In StarCraft 2 terms let's say he became a pro, but there is a big gap between that and wining the GSL or being remotely on the level of top players, Goku still has a long way to go.

And it is explained that UI is not the only technique of the GoDs. It's the main one the angels use, but there are other things...Beerus knows Ul but doesn't focus on it because you need to be calm and that's not exactly useful or fitting for a god of destruction. I'll leave it at that. Also remember Jiren didn't have god ki and was fighting UI Goku alright.

I feel like the current setup would be so much better if they took some more time to introduce Granolah. The singular elements make sense, but we didn't really have a lot of time to get attached.

Also Granolah replacing Freezer would be perfect for the Heeters, since + Show Spoiler +

he'll die quickly after.

So that part wasn't very strong imo. The army is a fairly weak reason imo if you are a rich trader, because either you are strong enough to subdue them and then don't really need an army or aren't and then aren't.

Not really fond of these manga-only arcs. Their power scaling leaves much to be desired, and the way UI just got sidestepped by new underdeveloped villain feels silly. Not sure if they’re going to try to make this into anime but I hope not because it wouldn’t be any good.

Definitely thinks look bleak for this arc already. I find the new guy's power-up to be stupid. He became the strongest mortal in the universe with a Dragon Ball wish. So far, so good. Except he didn't use the Super Dragon Balls like Zamasu, or even the Namekian or Earth DBs. He used a single rinky-dink backwater Dragon Ball. Makes no sense for that Dragon to be able to turn him into the strongest even with a 3 year time limit. And then the fight starts and Goku goes through his transformations again for no reason other than to waste 20 pages in that chapter for Vegeta to think about what race in particular is holding a grudge on the Saiyans today.

Never mind the fact that Goku should really beat this guy with Ultra Instinct rather easily but probably won't for story purposes. He's honed his martial arts for like 40 years. He shouldn't lose to a guy worse at fighting just because said guy has a higher power level all of a sudden.

The series has just gone on too long. They are just pulling villains out of their ass with the most ridiculous backstories. The multiverse thing is interesting but other than that, most villains in the series were given stupid power-ups to be at the same level as Goku.

The last two arc seems especially mind boggling, they set up two clear path forward, a rematch with Berus and the whole multiverse thing then choosed to scrap all that for Goku and Vegeta vs random overpower space vilain take 52

Yeah, there are so many interesting arcs that can be explored if the Z fighters travel to other universes, not to mention this newest villain didn't "earn" his power in any interesting, respectable way.

Yeah it's one thing I can't believe they haven't done yet. I get not doing the Beerus rematch but why not explore the multiverse? So many storylines they can do but they keep adding new villains to universe 6 and act like the others don't exist anymore.
