For better and worse, this movie felt very Abrams. I wouldn't mind seeing a stylistic departure from his work for the sake of seeing how it can be done differently. | ||

Watching it in 3D or 2D should thus be your personal preference since you're not gaining/losing anything either way. Getting that out of the way, I rate this movie 10/10 simply because it was everything I hoped it would be and then some. Finally we get non-OT SW movie that you can actually re-watch without cringing or dying a little inside every time. Thoroughly entertaining, characters were solid, action was great, emotions were there. It had its quirks and flaws but they were very minor and nothing that would detract from the overall great quality of the movie. Highly recommended (even my wife who isn't very much into SW - or SF/Fantasy for that matter - loved it). For a more in-depth (and spoiler free) review you can always watch this guy: I pretty much share all his feelings/concerns about this movie. until they decided to remake the death star and call it something else. Then they decided it would be a good idea to do the same tactic as before....It started off so well as well, so many better directions i thought you could have gone with that film but it ended up nearly being a copy hmm. Oh well take that part of the movie out and it was very good,nice humour some good acting. | ||

I am + Show Spoiler + so sad that Han died Never in the history of the Sith apprentice or lords has one person lost to a jedi who never actually used a lightsaber before, I mean even Asajj Ventress was better, and I thought Kylo killed more skilled Jedi too little screen time for Leia and Luke Other than that 11/10, IT WAS PERFECT, everything was on point and the action was non-stop. Much better than I expected. I can't wait for the next 2 movies of the trilogy!!!!! If you didn't know that it was going to be a trilogy, go to Wikipedia | ||

Overall i think the movie as a whole is a better starting movie as ANH was. + Show Spoiler + With that being said, yes there are some logic issues, but i wouldn't really say that was a big issue. The pacing is at times a little too fast though. In general i really had no idea how much time passed (in universe) since the beginning of the movie. That is probably my biggest complaint about it though. The plot could have been more original, sure. But in the end it didn't really matter imo. So yeah, i loved the new actors, the movie looked amazing and i actually care what happens next. 8/10 | ||

Why reuse the name "Starkiller" that was the dude from the force unleashed and now its Death Star 2.0? | ||

It was made pretty clear that he turned before completing his apprenticeship as a Jedi and caused Luke to lose faith in himself. It explains why Ren's lightsaber is so janky: he didn't use natural crystals like Jedi, and he didn't have a Sith master to teach him how to make the artificial crystals Sith use (Snoke isn't a Sith, nor a Jedi, though it's ambiguous whether or not he's Force sensitive). Ren essentially winged the whole lightsaber issue, and he's not fully trained in the Force either. There were no other Jedi, aside from Luke, as far as I understood it the fact was that Ren was the only apprentice and his turning caused Luke to give up on training others. The New Republic never got off its feed and the remains of the Empire found another force user to lead them that game from god knows where. Edit: Side note, it is awesome that the film is so aware that is has specific beats when those amazing shots happen to the audience to cheer like when Han and Chewie show up and + Show Spoiler + when Rey catches the lightsaber | ||

JJ did an adequate job, he's very 'safe' and mainstream and was a good choice for ep 7 considering most of it was a rehash with a bit more lighthearted comedy, but I really don't think he can do the dark, menacing dread of a true sith lord justice for the future episodes. | ||

The Empire Strikes Back is still the best ever done imho, but at least this incarnation has a promising future. The major positives being the new actors, i really like them with their emotional delivery of the characters. People confuse Star Wars as a sc-fi action flick when its not. Its about the core aspects of Good v Evil within us all and if the script writers get it right for the next 2 episodes, Rey and Kylo could deliver us quite a show.So here is hoping that it will happen and Disney don't bollocks it all up with its Micky Mouse wielding light sabers antics !!!! | ||
