We basically just need a good old life lesson from + Show Spoiler + Toph Also, odds of us seeing a final reunion of + Show Spoiler + the old benders from old Team Avatar? I mean, it would be pretty cool in my eyes if we see both Team Avatars team up for the finale. I think it's more than PTSD. It really looks semi-real to me. The little spirit who disguised itself as a dog to guide Korra to the Swamp was able to see it also. That is the main reason why I think it might be Raava in some way, shape or form. Perhaps the poison has affected her and is making her do this, but she still won't hurt her own, hence she backed down when the spirit "barked" at her.

Coming from a fresh re watch of the Guru episode in The Last Airbender and looking at the current situation it seems like Korra definitely has a lot of fear, guilt, and shame going on. The first three of the seven. She has PTSD definitely but her chakras being blocked is likely how the show will address it. Unless Toph just tells her to toughen up. Which is always possible.

Isnt every animal some crazy combination? Like, I remember them making a big deal out of the Earth King's bear in TLA. They had never heard of a plain old bear, just weird things like platypus bear.

I really thought from the book 4 trailer that Korra would have been fighting in a series of caged matches. That she lost to a random earthbender, 3 white lotus guards, and 2 common thiefs must have really damaged her self esteem. She seemed so happy when Tenzin came too, like she could show how much strength she'd recovered. As a prodigy in bending it must be horrible to lose so much of her ability and as an Avatar to feel like she's not needed. When she left Republic City, Tenzin said that they'd take care of things without her, and while Tenzin's words were well intentioned that's not what Korra wanted to hear. She wanted to be doing her duty, because Korra's identity, what she was raised as, was to be an Avatar. In the first episode of book 1, Korra beats 3 white lotus guards. To lose to them now, 3.5+ years later, must be humiliating. She doesn't feel like she's ready to go back to Republic City and I think she's somehow able to manifest these negative feelings into the evil Avatar Spirit. The spirit didn't appear in the South Pole, so I think it's her own self doubt. Even though she got letters from her friends, Korra felt abandoned. They were all doing things, but she wasn't, and hearing these things only made her feel worse. She didn't reply because she didn't want to say this to them. She didn't want to ruin everyone else's party or to show weakness. Even in book 1 when Korra went to the equalist trap, she's always been headstrong and not wanted anyone else's help and that's something I really admire about her. Months of not being able to walk. Someone in the Avatar development team has really done their research on what it's like to lose mobility for so long. And these are the struggles that kids shows (though avatar is no longer just aimed at kids) should be talking about. What other show has had a main character be in a wheel chair? How else do people learn to deal with these issues if they come up in their lives? I loved this episode.
