Walt feared for his family, and that's the premise of the show: How far would you go to make sure your loved ones are ok? Things have kind of spiraled out of control in this few last seasons, but sometimes we forget why walt got involved in the drug business in the first place: to leave money for his family after knowing he had cancer. We are just watching now what actions of "good will" by walt have led him to. He went from a harmless high school teacher to a drug kingpin who's even willing to let his partner's girlfriend die in order to achieve what he thinks is right. To me that's one of the most impressive things about the show: You look at walter now and at season 1 walter, and you can't imagine how he got so broken. And as you watch the seasons everything falls perfectly into place, and even if you know that what walt is doing is wrong, you still think he's doing it because of greater strength, after all, he's just a high school teacher trying to make sure his family is ok after he's gone. He is an asshole now, and somehow I still can sympathize with him.
Also, I think the writers left out how gus really knew that there was something wrong with his car on purpose. It's one of those things that almost everyone who will watch the show will discuss. But no one will doubt that gus was that smart to know something was wrong, and it wasn't just an event of luck.

Such a good season!! Skyler gets really annoying though!

Walt obviously poisoned the kid. He said the name of the plant to Jesse and within a couple minutes later the camera zooms in on the plant in Walt's back yard as the episode finished. The plant was labeled and everything.

I doubt that was intentional. It's just a coincidence. Plants have always been a big part of breaking bad.

Walter already broke bad a number of times already, just had to throw it out there.

When walt is sitting in the backyard spinning the pistol, it keeps pointing to him when it stops spinning. On the last spin it points to the plant and that gives him the idea.

Walt POISONED the kid guys. Seriously.

So my question after thinking about the ending series is....
Who was Gus? Why was he spared and his partner killed
The drug lord mentioned something about "knowing who he is" and "not in Chili anymore". It makes me think he had very powerful friends back home, very powerful. I think that is the only direction season 5 can go in really.
