Could be Margery but I think it is pointing to Dany being the one to cast her down. I'm willing to bet she sticks around Kings Landing (with her last remaining son , and king) Even more so after the death of her uncle. Maybe that will light another fire under her ass. Dany seems too obvious of a choice, I thought Dany at first as well but after thinking about it I'd bet it's Sansa. It always comes up how beautiful Sansa is, and especially after everything she(Sansa) has been through it would be poetic justice for her to overthrow Cersei hmm, didnt think of that, might just be the case
Also, how did u guys like the first episode? I kinda missed Tyrion's joke, when he tells Joffery Sorry for your loss, then rents a while when Joff doesnt get it. Other than that, there's the Cercei vs Littlefinger scene, i heard it said that it doesnt fit Littlefinger's character to confront Cercei like that, which I agree with, but the scene was pretty OK imo, he was surprised by the Queen and answered fairly subtly then Cercei just did her queen bitch stuff
Also, iirc Joffery doesnt know/doesnt pay attention to the rumor about his conceiving, will they make an identity crisis out of this for him, or just wanted the bastard-killing to be more in the spotlight?

the first episode was great ! of course everything is so compressed because of the little screentime (and some people should stop whining) but it's pretty smooth. i can't wait for the battle of blackwater ! damn.
also, Melissandre is so hot <3

I liked the episode overall, I missed Cersei and Tyrion, really looking forward to their scenes together this season.
The only part I was disappointed with was the Dragonstone scenes, I felt they were a bit rushed or poorly explained. They didn't really go into Melisandre (why she is on dragonstone / why Stannis and his lords are following her / why they all changed faith from the seven to Rhaellor). Davos also didn't really get introduced in this episode. Even Cressen's scene with the poison felt strange.

But I can't wait for the Tyrion and Cersei scenes. Some epic scenes incoming.
2 Skins stars in this episode.

I loved the location shots. That overhead shot of Dany's khalasar and what we've seen so far of beyond the wall looks amazing.
Tyrion is amazing, Tyrion and Cersei is even better. Can't wait for Tyrion to bring the smack down on Joffrey, though I have to give him credit for playing an annoying little twat really well.
I'll reserve judgement otherwise though because this episode was the ... extended prologue I feel.

Even when I read the book, I thought the appearance of the red priestress was quite "random". I honestly thought they would cut that even more, like not showing the maester who tried to poison her.
Like they have done it now, it should be close to impossible to fully grasp all the different storylines that were going on there for anyone who has not read the book beforehand.

I imagined Davos and Theon to look more bad-ass so disappointed in that.
But I liked the episode overall, I agree that the Dragonstone part (Stannis' Campaign and more specifically Davos' journey is my favourite plot in the series overall) felt very rushed. I would've thought they would've just introduced it in the second episode but nope :o I hope they do it afterwards cos I'd want people who haven't read the book to get a good introduction to it all. Though as it is a "side plot" for most of Clash of Kings I can't really expect that :o

I really like the choice for Davos. They always talk about how tired and done with all this political shit he is in the book, but he sticks with it due to his loyalty to Stannis. He did a good job of looking haggared and put-upon during the meeting where they were composing the letter, I think he fits really well.
Not quite sure about Stannis yet, but haven't really seen enough of him yet to decide. He's certainly now how I pictured, but that's not always a bad thing.
The only one they fucked up on so far in the show is Renly. I do not see him as being a young Robert at all, and that's how he's described again and again in the books. I don't know why HBO is scared of a strong, manly gay guy in their show.

I liked this episode but for me the only thing I don't understand well is why they added that part of Littlefinger and Cersei. Sure, it shows exactly how Cersei is, an arrogant woman who believe having power is enough to be the King of the World but Littlefinger, well, in the books, never attacks directly. He manipulates, tries to be funny in front of everyone, reveals that no one should trust him but nevers confronts someone nor I have read he was affected because of his past.
Perhaps the producers wanted to put this scene so they could give a motivation for make Littlefinger betray the Lannisters and plan the death of Joffrey.

Where was patchface and shireen though? and renly is already gonna die next ep? feels very soon, but maybe i just forgot the exact timeline since i read all books within like a week some year ago. hopefully the davos actor does well, such a great story line for him. Pathface and Shireen were cut out, and I doubt Renly will already die next episode because Catelyn still has to travel down to meet him before their parley with Stannis. We will first be introduced to Renly's people, like the Tyrells (Margery, Mace, and some more scenes with Loras), Brienne and so on. Renly should meet with Stannis around episode 5-6 imo.

It was unlike Littlefinger to provoke Cersei directly, he's smarter than that.
I see a lot of people in the other thread confused about the fires on the beach (not aware it was the Seven they were burning), why Cressen ("the old guy") was against Melisandre and why he poisoned himself and her. I really <3 this show, but 10x1hour episodes makes it hard to fit a story like this in properly.

Maybe it will get explained more in depth the next episodes.

If I remember that part of book 2 correctly, he was off hunting much of the time they were ranging north of the Wall.

Didn't he scare some of Craster's wives and eat one of their rabbits though?
edit: nvm thats not until later.

Spoiler about which episode Renly dies in: + Show Spoiler +He dies in the end of episode 4. The meeting with Stannis is earlier the same episode. See for instance the episode descriptions here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_of_Thrones_(season_2)Catelyn tries to fix the conflict between the Baratheon brothers in ep. 4. This is at the parley. In the episode 5 description it says that Catelyn has to flee because of a new situation at Renly's camp. This must be right after Renly dies. There are also interviews where the actors say that there was a scene with Renly in episode 4 that required a lot of cgi (shadow baby).

At Winterfell, Bran Stark needs help to decipher his dreams.
Is what it says on Wiki about episode 3, does that mean Jojen and Meera is incoming? I've tried looking for hints of actors for them on IMDB but haven't found anything.
|
Jojen and Meera have to be introduced at some point this season, seeing as how pivotal they are to Bran's story Arc. I'm not surprised we havn't heard about them from the HBO series standpoint yet, just because there are already so many characters that introducing two more (who don't really do much this season even at the end) wouldn't make sense, to promote them that is.
I do hope we get to see Meera net / spear figthing with Summer though, that would be a kickass scene.
|
Jojen and Meera are not in this season. They may be introduced the next season. It seems like parts of the Winterfell storyline (including Ramsay) have been postponed.
