Probably because the 7 don't exist. I'm more and more convinced that as far as false gods go, these are really the only ones that have literally no power. Either that, or the 7 gives no shits about men. Either way, the indication is that they couldn't care less about guilt or innocence, and trial by combat is a ridiculous notion.

I am convinced that Gods don't exist at all. As Melissandre and others have shown, blood magic can do lots of stuff and it is easy to claim Gods are behind it. If you have access to magic and have half a brain you are going to invent a God and claim he is behind your magic. Otherwise you are a lone spellcaster and people will not be afraid to kill you because once you are dead they don't need to fear any kind of retribution. But if they believe in your God, they will fear the God, not you.

Come on man, think a little bit before you compare movies to tv shows directly. Of course movie critics hype up films, that's their job and they need to get people off their ass and into the movie theater to see the movie. TV shows are different. GoT fans are here for the long haul, and are watching faithfully every Sunday. Over the 4 seasons of the show, it's built up a narrative and there are exciting episodes with lots of developments and there are slower episodes with more exposition. Part of what makes things like the Red Wedding and Ned's Assassination so compelling is that they are completely unexpected, and not every episode of Game of Thrones has thinks like that. Up until this season, Episode 9 has always been the climax, and while this season's E9 was good and exciting, it's not the climax. But to tell viewers that is robbing them of a part of the experience, and at least on this forum they've made it completely clear they don't even want to know whether or not an episode will be "hype."
And again, it's not like the comment was in passing in an otherwise good post. It was literally just a one-liner to point out that all the cool shit will happen next episode.

TV shows do the same thing, it's just not as noticeable with a show on HBO, as they have minimal commericals, but shows on network and traditional cable channel's hype up season finale's all the time. As someone previous posted, the creators of the show are hyping up the episode. Are they spoiling their own show?
Saying the episode will be good could seriously mean anything. Any character could die. The White Walkers could tear down the wall. Sansa could get naked and bang Littlefinger. To say that hyping up an episode is a spoiler is a real big stretch of the definition.
Sorry for continuing this discussion about what constitutes a spoiler, as it is kinda silly and off-topic, I just think people are way too sensitive with what is a spoiler these days. I mean you could be going to cnn.com, and it could have a headline "Creators say next Game of Thrones is best yet!". Are you gonna write and complain to CNN? Game of Thrones is so popular, it pops up in the most random places, and unfortunately if you want a 100% virgin/no knowledge experience, you'd probably have to give up the internet.

There is a reason the previews and so on have to be discussed in spoilers in the other thread. People in the other thread already know from previews and interviews that Brienne is biting off the Hounds ear. That is a massive spoiler for the episode.
So yes, producer hype can spoil things. That doesnt't mean that we should do the same thing. Why is it so hard for some people to simply not tell anyone about anything about upcoming episodes?
|
While I understand the rules in the other thread, and don't understand why some people from here are poking the unsullied for no reason, are there any rules in this thread? the emmy application bidness is a pretty big spoiler outside of the tv/book. hypothetically if someone knew exactly what was going to happen in every episode from now on could they post it here? what about teaser chapters from new books and stuff.

That's exactly what c0ldfusion tried to address, I believe the mod's response was "book readers just have to suck it up".
So yeah any spoilers allowed in this thread.

Teaser chapters are posted in spoilers here. I would support the same for information about upcoming episodes, since they will contain more and more spoilers for us, too.

But I think people are overreacting. We have enough of witch hunting in the other thread. This one should remain free of such pests.

I dunno Archangel, I haven't read the spoiler but if people start talking about stuff that is gonna be in the show but not in the books... I'm thinking about not reading this thread at all.

and why do book readers need to suck it up when they get spoiled by those kind of spoilers that you posted? I didnt know what Brienne does next episode, now i know.
Show spoilers about stuff that didnt happen in the book should be in spoiler tags here too.

Sorry. That has been discussed here openly many times now. I agree that it should be done in spoilers.

I was just kidding around about cnn, but right now there is actually a video article titled "'Thrones' finale: Best episode ever? "

I do agree that discussions about preview chapters need to be in spoilers but little things that are going to happen in the next episode? I personally believe not.

I wouldn't consider what happens the next episode a "little thing". It's a major plot point, and a deviation from the books, so it's new to everyone. Thus it is a spoiler for everyone. Thus it should be discussed in spoilers before the episode airs. We'll be getting more and more of this in the coming seasons, and the deviations from the book will grow larger, too, and I'd really not want to have the show spoiled for me, just like I'd really not want to have the books spoiled for me.

so tv + book = everything .. except preview chapters? despite how that's not obvious at all from the words tv/book as you implied, i believe you have accurately summarized the rules of the thread.

How about use common sense? And if that turns out too difficult just use spoilers just in case.
|
I think we should just spoil every post no matter the content, just to be safe.
|
If the last two pages have shown anything, it's that some of us have very differing definitions of "common sense" when it comes to spoilers.
|
Well someone in this thread spoiled the name of the sixth book to me and I think they ought to be banned for life.
