Things I didn't like:
Shae (pls just die already), Stannis, Stannis wouldn't burn people for worshiping the wrong gods, Davos still worships the Seven ffs. As long as they bend the knee he would be ok with it. Stannis stopped caring for gods after he watched his mother & father die in Shipbreaker Bay.
I can kinda see where they're going with Oberyn+Loras but there is supposed to be emnity from Tyrell side. I was hoping Jaime would suggest Loras to join the Kingsguard too, shame. I just read the Ilyn Payne actor (Wilko Johnson) has been diagnosed with terminal cancer about a year ago. Made me really sad.

They gave that training part to Bronn so they would not have to replace Johnson with a new actor.

Yeah, it's done out of respect for him, so they're retiring the character (despite some S1/early S2 hinting he may be important later, I think Ayra was repeating Ilyn Payne's name?).
And no one can have enough of Bronn.

I'm fairly certain those 3 people got burnt in the books as well. At least the Florent guy (Stannis' wife's brother), because he was in a cell together with Davos before they burnt him.

Book Stannis burned them because they're traitors, as Alester Florent tried to seek peace with the Lannisters behind Stannis's back. Show Stannis did it because they're worshiping false idols. Pretty different reasons for burning someone, which further illustrates why people think Show Stannis is worse than Book Stannis.

I was watching it with a friend last night, she had not read the books, I have. I was not expecting the actual wedding til Ep 4 or so, but when they were actually walking down the isle I kept giggling, and at all the notable moments leading up to it and then I tried to control myself the immediate moments leading up to it. What happened next was basically this gif + Show Spoiler + She is extremely worried about Tyrion though. And I kind of led her to figuring out Oberyn would be his champion in trial by combat and she felt better about it. Her actual words literally were "they just introduced this badass, they wouldn't kill him off" - hardest poker face of my life.

It is kind of a mix of the burning of the Florent guy with that of Lord Sunglass and some others though, who were basically burned because the were devout followers of the Seven. Although even in those cases Stannis was given a cop-out by Martin, as Sunglass has said he would stop supporting Stannis because he burned the Seven and stuff. Also Stannis was not present when Sunglass was burned. Still imo Stannis was still responsible here.
Although probably the biggest difference between book and TV Stannis was that TV Stannis lead from the front. He even stormed the battlements of Kings Landing as one of the first, slaying multiple foes and his men bascially had to drag him back when the battle was lost. That is something book Stannis would have never done. The book went to great length to explain that Stannis was not like his brother Robert and would stay in the rear during the fighting. Interestingly I did not see any book Stannis fans complain about this deviation.

Rewatching it just now. I do have a complaint.
I love Charles Dance, but I feel like he smiles too much. One of the traits of Tywin is that he never smiles. At all. It's never a full-on smile, but it's still infinitely more than what Tywin is supposed to be like.
Nitpicking though :p Charles Dance owns every scene he is in, he's an incredible actor.

Couple of GIFs showing nicely how the poisoning was pulled off:

I had even forgotten about the scene when Olenna sent her hens to find a nice necklace.

I also noticed when Tyrion goes to pick up the goblet he gets a stare from that old lady

wait, old lady involved? isnt this solely lf's job?
lf -> fool -> sansa

Pretty sure both murder and treason are punishable by death in the Seven Kingdoms.
Book Stannis is different from TV Stannis.

lf -> fool -> sansa nope, u need to reread it. LF had his spies telling the Tyrells all about Joeffery, while he himself praized him to avoid suspition. Olenna steals a gem from Sansa's hairpiece or whatever, which is indeed planted there by LF, via Dontos (i dont remember exactly, but LF still avoids being involved even before the tyrells). She puts it in his goblet -> Joeff dies.
So techincally, Olenna murdered him, by LF's design, Sansa being a clueless piece in the puzzle, Dontos being a bit more aware piece in the puzzle... And Tyrion being... well fucked over by all this

Lord Sunglass stated he cannot support Stannis due to what was done to the Faith, being pious as he was. Others burned for defending the sept with their lives.
LF masterminded the whole murder from behind all scenes and made damn sure he was officially away from King's Landing during the wedding, even though he was nearby in a ship.
Didn't like where this whole Shae business is going.

In the books, wasn't this also the scene where Tyrion figures out that it was really Joeffery who sent that assassin to kill Bran. I'm kind of worried that the show will never get back to who was behind the assassin.
|
Isn't there a scene where Jaime and Cersei argue with each other, and Jaime accuses her of trying to finish the job that throwing Bran off the Tower didn't do, but she says she has no idea whats he talking about?
She then brings up a story about how Robert drunkingly said to his family that the boy is better off dead, and from that Jaime deduces Joff sent an assassin to end Bran's life to make Robert "proud".

House Rampton is sworn to House Sunglass. If Stannis bears command responsibility per your logic, so does Sunglass.
Even in the best-case scenario, where command responsibility doesn't apply, Sunglass was guilty of treason, and Rampton's sons (the other two who burned) were guilty of murder; Stannis, lord of Dragonstone, has every right to do what he pleases to his idols on Dragonstone. Rampton has no right to "defend" Stannis' property from Stannis.

Idk, maybe I'm just remembering it wrong. But I thought it was when Joffrey got his valyrian steel sword. And someone tells him to be careful, and he says he's handled valyrian steel before. And from that Tyrion figures out that it was really Joeffery who sent that assassin to kill Bran.
|
Tyrion figured out Joffrey did it some time in ACOK I think, and he pretty much gets his confirmation during Joffrey's wedding.
It is the line of Joffrey "I am no stranger to valyrian steel", and his reaction to Tyrion's line when Joffrey hacks up the book, "perhaps I'll have a dagger made for you instead, with dragonbone?" or something like that.
