Luckily Tyrion will be there soon. The Dany/Mereen chapters are no more tedious than Cat. God I hated her chapters.

Spoiler chapters are subject to change though... In one of the spoiler chapters for DwD, it had Tyrion noticing a sword among the gifts that Illyrio was bringing along for Aegon. (There were theories flying around that it was one of the missing Targaryen Valyrian Steel Swords) That sword mysteriously wasn't mentioned in the official hardback.

After character alignments, swordsman rankings and ice melting methods, it's time for a current Power Rank of the Great Houses. = 1 Lannister (still firmly in control, has the king, a good army and loads of money) ▲ 2 Tyrell (plays the Game well, about to have the queen, Margaery can control Joffrey, decent army and wealth) ▼ 3 Stark (lost the Karstarks, will soon gain Frey's forces) ▲ 4 Targaryen (playing Spartacus. Will be the strongest force when dragons grow and slaves and Dothraki join) ▼ 5 Baratheon (has not recovered from Blackwater Bay. Melisandre may still assassinate anyone with a shadow) Agree/disagree? Also, where would the wildlings and the white walkers fit in the ranking? That'll be fun.

There has not been anything explosive or revealing in tWoW partial chapters. Maybe that the Martells are being very cautious about the golden company and this "Aegon"? That is about it. Everything else is pretty tame and expected. The aDwD spoiler snippet you refer to was not the same. When that spoiler was released the reaction among the speculators was all along the lines of "Ahh, was wondering if a Blackfyre pretender would enter the mix". If they had Blackfyre nobody would have taken young Griff seriously and the Faegon theory would be much closer to the Faegon law. Not sure what can be metagamed from GRRMs decision to cut it. It could go either way depending on why exactly it was cut. Allegedly he keeps himself sequestered and does not react to fan theories, so I lean in the direction of saying it was not done cynically. If that is the case then he probably decided it did not make sense for Blackfyre to be there, leaning credence to Aegon's legitimacy (or at least that he isn't a Blackfyre). (not that I think he is real for a second, I'm just giving the other side this point) In any case, Tyrion was setting up to buy off the second sons for Dany in aDwD so that point will remain regardless of changes between the spoiler section and whatever makes it into the final version of tWoW.

Can't wait to see the disappointment once they realize all she does is turn every city she goes to into a shithole, marries a guy who will probably look like the main antagonist from 300, and more Season 02-esque bitching/moaning.

Edit: Poster above me, no, i always triple check which thread i am in before i post! haha My guess is there is no Azor Ahai, however if there is it would be way to cliché for George to make it Daenerys or Jon. Theres so much insane metaphors, symbolism, allusions, etc riddled within the books that give good arguments for a lot of other characters as well including both Daenerys and Jon so it may be a possibility.

People will get wiped out in the North? The Rains of Castamere. It's a Lannister song warning against crossing them, it's the song that the turncoats use to signal the massacre. The lyrics are actually ideal for the situation: And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low? Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know. In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws, And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours. And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that lord of Castamere, But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear. Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.

Unfortunately because of the books lengths the editors had to cut out pivotal latter chapters that would contribute to giving the books a better climax, but as it stands they just came off as filler content. I think in the future when Winds of Winter and eventually Dreams of Spring are completed people will appreciate both Feast/Dance a lot more as they can simply just transition straight into Winds of Winter thus giving a more rewarding feeling to readers.

I'll reserve judgment until the scene is given more context, but I definitely don't remember Stannis ever talking like that to Davos. Maybe I just forgot though..

I think the main part about Dany's story in Dance is to show that she is losing control of her dragons. For most of the book, they are chained in some tomb, and @ the end they are scattered across the world. I would assume the next books is about her getting control back.
