Discussing the show and past episodes is fine. Do not put things that have happened in the TV series in spoilers. However, don't spoil things from the books that may happen in future episodes. Put book spoilers in spoiler tags with a CLEAR WARNING that it is from the book. |

Fuck.
Dont they come out with a new issue like every 4 months? That you finish in like 15 minutes? Being a comic book reader is hard. I don't know hoe people do it. They're supposed to release one issue a month but Kirkman & Co. frequently miss the deadline. I guess that's not that bad. Still. People have trouble waiting 1 week in between 1 hour episodes... here you're waiting a month for 15 minute episodes. D:

Although I guess a lot of people hate him for 'killing' Dale.

I loved the badass Katana guy with the two zombies chained up to cover his smell. Looking forward to learning more about him.
The show is finally getting good. Rick looks like he's going to be more active instead of being a paragon Commander Shepherd, Dale the most annoying, whiny philosopher of all time is now dead, the asshole Shane the troublemaker is gone, Herschel has come to terms with the goddamn world instead of sitting on his ass at the farm and the group is on the move. It's a shame it took two seasons to get here.
Also, apparently the zombies are fireproof and the shotguns have infinite ammo! Yeaaaaaah! HINT,, SPOILER, + Show Spoiler +
Not much of a spoiler. She hardly had the figure of a man. (Hint: BOOOBS!)

I wana start reading the comics but i'd like to start where season 2 left off at the end, can someone tell me what issue that would be?
|
Also, does anyone know the exact air date for season 3?
|
I was so apprehensive when it came to this show, and I wouldn't have trudged through season 1 if i wasn't terribly ill during the time i watched it, but now that it has turned into such a powerhouse I am really glad a stuck through! Definitely an amazing show with tons of great drama and characters!

I suggest you read everything from the beginning, as the comic and the tvshow are quite different.
Otherwise ... + Show Spoiler +Issue 12 I'd say. But be prepared, A LOT of stuff is different.

It's 80-90% different except there are some characters with the same name.
Really, just read it all, you won't regret it.

About issue 1
+ Show Spoiler +
How is that not already different to you? Besides the clothing and behaviour of the characters, just as example Rick is walking right into the room full of zombies, in the series its locked "don't open, dead inside". Overall there is a lot more in the series that you cannot see in the comics, if thats a good or bad thing up to you to decide.
I only read the first issues, because I don't want to be spoiled, so I will read until a point where the series is... but I saw quiet some things that are different in the first two issues already

A little story:
Last Saturday I watched season 1 for the first time. It was 9pm and my cousin and I were having a few drinks and wanted to watch something on Netflix. We couldn't figure out what to watch so we said what the hell, and decided to see what all the rage was about.
Wow.
I watched all of season 1 that night. It was amazing. Insta-hooked, you could call it. So what did I do?
Come Monday, just as I got home from work, I proceeded to watch the next 7 episodes of season 2. How did I never watch this show before? It is seriously amazing. I love every episode. The way it connects you with the characters, and how you're able to relate with decisions that are made.
Last night I finished the remaining episodes of season 2, and I kind of regret that. Because now I feel the need to know what happens next. Unfortunately I found out that season 3 is still quite far away, which sucks
On the bright side, I realized that there are a ton of little details that I did not put together on my first time through, especially since I just jumped through 19 episodes in about 18 hours.
So this is where this thread comes in. 209 pages at the time of writing this, and that's 209 pages unread by me. I'm going to go through this thread in its entirety (avoiding the book spoilers for now) and re-watch both seasons. This way by the time season 3 comes around, I should have a pretty good understanding of what's going on.
All in all, I love this show. And I cannot wait until season 3 rolls around and I can jump in on the discussion with all you!
Edit: Okay So there is no way I am reading all of the pages. I've gone through quite a bit already and there is sooo much complaining. I understand that for those who read the comics are disappointed that it might not be the same, but wow. IDK, I've never been one to focus on every little detail and why it's bad or how character x said y and that's stupid! But oh well, I have truly enjoyed every episode and have no complaints. Can't wait to see more.

Well I didn't expect to read so many positive reviews ^^ I enjoy this show, because I love the post zombie apocalypse setting, but I don't think it's very good if you're not very tolerant to bad dialogues, bad character development (the only characters that make sense are the zombies...), a very slow rythm...
Still, I'm curious to see what will happen in season 3, it sounds promising now that the bad storylines are finished and Rick is finally looking a bit more interesting. Even if it's bad I'll just watch because Bear McCrary makes the music and I'm a big fan.

You can't the story is completely different..... let alone the character set is pretty different as well... read all the books start with The Walking Dead Book 1.. Link: http://www.amazon.com/The-Walking-Dead-Book-Bk/dp/1582406197/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333007984&sr=8-1
First Difference: + Show Spoiler +Shane died in the first 5 pages of the comic series forreal... carl outright slays his ass
The whole entire story differs so greatly that you will be 100% lost... it would be like saying I'm going to read The Return of the King before I read the fellowship of the ring... The story moves way faster than the show... Just offering you advice so that way you can enjoy the whole story, but lets face it tv is way different than the actual books.
Edit: The end of the first book will put you roughly equal to end of the 2nd Season. Spoiler About Characters to try and convince you to read the entire thing + Show Spoiler +Just about everyone who dies in the show is still alive in the book and they ALL have very epic character development and they all throw an awesome part into the story, AMC version is alright, but if you read first book, through at least 3rd youll be like wait... this sideline is awesome why didnt AMC do that at least like 15 times...

The Sophia plot was so disappointing. They dragged it on for nearly an entire season, then toss it in with the minor barn plot and it ends right there. I was imagining like, she found her way to some other survivor camp and lives an alternative life and it'd be totally unknown to the survivors/audience other than through her flashbacks.
I mean, this thread is filled with ranting about realism/plot holes. Being caught by a zombie was a near inevitability and the most likely possibility considering she was a naive child (and a girl in a horror series, she never stood a chance from the start lol) was that she was dead. Especially considering the time between her running off and them meeting otis, she probably got bit the second Rick left. (Unless Otis was wrangling zombies even when they were taking care of Carl).
They developed the plot around her, the character's evolution around her. The most logical occurrence came to light and now I sit here feeling like my time was wasted.
edit: After finally watching all of TWD I just wanna walk into an L4D2 save room and see, "Please be courteous to those around you when committing suicide and shoot yourself in the head." Too lazy to come up with a clever two line rhyme.
|
Well she was lost for a full day so Otis had plenty of time to find her.
But I agree, it kind of sucked to see her come out of that barn, but then again, we all knew it was bound to happen. Didn't feel completely wasted. It helped give more insight on the characters.

Yeah thats what I mean. We knew it was the only logical conclusion to draw given the circumstances. It's so unmoving and anti-climactic.
I wouldn't have minded a deus ex machina, but her turning up dead just makes everything painfully boring to me. They didn't even have to bring her back to them either. Cover her story in a websiode or something. All we're left with after SO many episodes was that she was fucked from the beginning and right there in the damn barn. Ugh.

I hate Lori and Carl, it's no wonder Rick doesn't want to spend any time with them. I wouldn't either.
